As I continue to obsses about my plans for Jan 15 I find out that not only are they taping WWTBAM at MGM they are having a "walk in and win" event....they will be randomly drawing the names of audience participants that can actually land in the real million dollar hot seat. Now, what will THAT do to attendance do you suppose?

There is also a big convention in town that weekend and so the parks will be crowded. My son and I decided to go to WDW this weekend so that we could play WWTBAM-PI and get on to the hot seat.

I was a WDW and they have already removed some of the seats at the attraction for filming of the show. The seats where the disabled and wheelchair bound sat have been removed to make room for the taping.

My son and I both made it to the hot seat on Friday.

You have to have a ticket to be admitted to the taping - you can't just get in line and go inside. The thread I read about tickets said they were gone pretty much the first day they were available. The attraction will be closed the whole time we are there (Jan. 12-15) for those tapings. I wasn't planning on the taping causing bigger crowds, just one less attraction.

If you go to the millionaire sight you will see this:

WALK IN AND WIN JANUARY 15th WALT DISNEY WORLD®
Walk In and Win Week... you show up and if you're randomly selected for the audience you could end up in the hot seat playing for 1 million dollars. It's that easy, no written test to pass.

Hot Seat contestants come directly from the studio audience. A random drawing will be held to determine who will be in the studio audience. If you are selected in the random drawing you must meet all eligibility requirements, have your Phone-A-Friends set up and ready to go and sit for a brief interview. For all the details on how you could Walk In and Win, click here.

It goes on to explain when to line up, what to bring, etc etc.

Lovely. So anybody with park admission can stampede over to try to be picked? Don't the people with tickets for the taping get first dibs? I personally don't want to go for the taping because it may take all day!

Do they tell you your phone a friends have to be on land lines only (no cell phones) and must say nothing other than Hello when the phone rings? And they have to be available for a set period of time? It sin't easy to set that up on short notice. I was a phone friend for my friend's DH - lots of rules. He was on Millionaire with Regis that was taped in NY.

I will take a look at the Millionaire site. Not that it will change anything, but now I am curious!

OK. Now I have read the whole thing and I really am not concerned. Saturday, Jan. 15 is the only day they are offering this. You have to get in line at 6 AM, line closes at 7:30 AM. Then they take all of the audience people into the studio BEFORE the park opens. Those people are stuck in there for the rest of the day - 5 episodes. It said they won't come out until about 8 PM. Can you skip MGM on Saturday? Because the cheerleaders will be in the Indiana Jones show area, so it's closed. I think Saturday is just NOT the day for MGM!

I wouldn't expect a tremendous change in crowds. Possibly slightly elevated, but alot of folks will be there purely for Millionaire.

Do you have your call a friend lifelines lined up? Here is an interesting article about quiz bowlers. The articles mentions a teacher who has been the lifeline for several quizbowlers on WWTBAM See http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A7195-2004Oct4?language=printer

When I was thinking about trying out for the show, I started with my wife (she has known the answer to every question that I have missed on the hot seat at WWTBAM-PI) and then to line up the members of my son's academic challenge team (aka the nerd squad). One of my son's classmates was a very strong player and there is another former team member from the team that won nationals three years ago who I was trying to run down.

I would see if the guy mentioned in the article is available as a life line. Good luck

I am so jealous of all you who can be there for the taping. I have never made it all the way to the top prize but I am on a roll right now and feel lucky. LOL I play trivia on the Internet and just won a game with the highest score ever recorded and then Monday I played for the quarterly championship and won that. I think my secret is that I have been painting and the fumes must have jarred something loose in my brain. (grin)

On any given day almost anyone can win, it is all in the questions asked and the contestants strong points. Good luck to whomever plays. I want to see that show for sure and am hoping that the winner is wearing lime green!!

I would love to know if a DISer got into the hot seat and when those shows will be aried. I always wear my shirt or button when I play in hopes of running into a fellow DISer.

I also want to know how his attempt turned out. I was seriously considering trying the same thing
