I was wondering what everyones favorite sit down restaurant was at MGM?
We use to love Hollywood and Vine breakfast but it's not offered anymore so we were thinking of eating a lunch or dinner someplace else at MGM.

We've never been to the Mamma Melrose's or the 50's Prime Time Cafe so I was trying to decide between those two.

We've been to the Sci-Fi but with it being in the dark I think my little one won't like it and the Brown Derby was good but I found it too expensive for the size of the entrees IMHO.

What one do you like the best and why?

Thank you!!

We've been to Brown Derby, Mama Melrose and Sci-Fi.

Of the 3, I would pick MM again for dinner. We really had a nice meal, as part of the Fantasmic Package. Maybe I had lowered my exceptations, based on the reviews found on the board, but I was quite pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. Loved the salad that DH and I shared. The flatbread was good. The kids were happy with their pizza and burger. DH and I both order salmon and it was great.

We like Sci-fi and Brown Derby for lunches - Burgers and Shakes or Cobb Salads - depending what mood we are in and how bad we want to be!

Never done Prime time - I tend to be shy and don't think I'd enjoy being talked down to if I didn't eat my peas.

Have fun planning! Have more fun when you are there!

I liked them both. Obviously, MM has an Italian flare. The food there is very good. I didn't really care for the desserts.

Prime Time is a lot of fun. I think that the servers get vibes off of the patrons and can tell if you are not into it. This was my parents favorite place on our last family trip, and they are coming this year so I am going to fit it in. I liked the food. And my picky brother even found something he liked. The desserts are great!

Mama Melrose is good but I don't think it offers anything you can't get out of WDW.

Prime Time not only serves good food but has great entertainment for kids and adults. I really enjoyed my lunch here, the meatloaf was every so nice and I'd go back again but I'd share an appetizer next time so that I could have dessert ;)

Two very different places.

Prime Time is a fun place, food is pretty good, but you must have a sense of humor, some people get offended by the atmosphere or all the servers acting like your parents (maybe not "your" parents). Some are more into it than others. If you don't mind being picked on for having your elbows on the table or not eating everything on your plate.

Some servers will fork feed you if you need the help to finish your vegetables. It is quite an entertaining place and we've had a lot of fun there but it isn't for everybody. The food hasn't been real consistent, some really good meals and some mediocre, bummed since they took off Selma's chicken salad. That was sooo good. We like lunch here.

Mama Melrose is a favorite so far. Very relaxing, normal type of Italian restaruant, nothing outlandish here. Everytime we've been here the food has always been good. Great flatbread pizzas. Service is good and it's a nice quiet escape from the chaos at the park. Great for families. We like lunch and dinner here.

Mama's is a nice Italian restaurant - like every other nice Italian restaurant.

I'd go with Prime Time. It's lots of fun - if you're into it - and the kids love it even if they don't "get" the 50's stuff because their parents are just "kids" like themselves and have to eat all their green beans and keep their elbows off the table. You can't find anything like it anywhere but WDW - so try it once and see for yourself!

Having been to both Mama Melrose and PrimeTime, my entire family prefers PrimeTime. Great fried chicken and desserts, especially the S'mores, only you don't have to have a campfire.

I agree with Fantasia Sam! You can eat MM type food anywhere, but you can't get fried chicken the way that PTC makes it. Plus the interaction is soooo great!

Of the two, I think I liked MM better, but I had an AWESOME milkshake at Prime time, so get one if you decide to go there. I actually liked the Brown Derby best of the 3 we've been to. We're hitting Sci fi in September though so we'll see how it goes!!

I also though MM was a little dark, if you're worried about your little one ;)

The only thing I've found edible on the menu at Mama Melrose was the fried calimari. In fact, it was outstanding. But everything else I've tried there has made me ill. :( I'd vote for Prime Time. They have a fun atmosphere and excellent home cooking.

As a Brit with no experience of the 50's (way too young) I thought I might give you my opinion of the Prime Time Cafe. In the UK in the 50's we still had rationing after the war !

If you don't have a sense of humour don't bother. We found it amazing, especially my daughters, 6 and 10, who loved watching their parents being "humiliated". Not that they got away lightly. Our server tried to set my daughter up on a date with a boy from the next table. I've never seen 2 kids go so bright red.

anyway, the food. It was excellent, both for the kids and adults. S'mores were a totally new experience for the ladies in the group and they want s'more.

We're already planning our next trip to Orlando and when I asked the kids what they'd like to do they both shouted (I kid you not) "Prime Time Cafe". They were that impressed.

I think we might be going back.

Another vote for Mama Melrose...we always eat there! I agree with an earlier response that Sci-Fi is good for lunch, not dinner.
Have fun!

I think some people who do not like Prime Time aren't people without a sense of humor! But the gimmicks demand talented wait staff to make them fun and not disrespectful. Obviously not all staff working for "mama" are talented.

That is the reason why I only ate there once and never will return. After a while, people were pretty much pushing buttons back and forth. Adults banging on the tables, kids taking advantage and being even louder, rambunctious and in the end, I was not planning on eating in a barn anyhow, so it was not my atmosphere.
