Has any DVC owner heard about a dinner in MGM that includes a pass to get right into the Fantasmic show??

Yes. if you make ressies for dinner at a number of restaurants for Fantasmic dinner you will have a section of the place open to you not specific seats but you won't have to wait in line. Check out disney dining or call CS. We did it for the Epcot candlelite parade at Christmas and it was great.

Be aware that, yes, it will save time, but the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg. seats aren't the best seats in the amphitheater, they are in the first section to the far right as you enter the theater.

Yes, one can dine at Mamma Melroses, Hollywood & Vine and I think one other restaurant. THe waiter will give you a coupon that you use to get into Fantasmic through the back entrance and then you will enter from the far right (looking at the stage). The reserved area is to the right of the stage (looking at the stage).
You have to make ressies well in advance of your visit and you must dine at a specific time. We did it back in late January for a Friday evening (value season) so the benefit was minimal since Fantasmic was not even full for that evening. Such may not be the case during other weeks, but I know that even though it was value season the dinner reservations packages for Fantasmic were sold out when we called Mamma Melroses, but since we were a duce, they fit us in.
If you have a family with 4+ people and small kids, the dinner package is the way to go, otherwise you will have dine real early and get to Fantasmic real early to get a seat.

The other restaurant is The Brown Derby. We have ressies there this Tuesday night. We did this last year and we thought the reserved seating was fine. It beat a 2 hour wait in line. We had our meal and received our voucher and while others were standing in line, we were on the Great Movie Ride. We went in a side entrance about 15-20 minutes before the show and after the show we were ushered out the side entrance again (before the others were even out of there seats) which was a lot shorter than walking out the main way. We also did this at Epcot for the Candlelight Procession and it was great. We ate at the Rose and Crown and we figured the meal would have cost more if we hadn't done the dinner special.

We do this every time we go...no wait and walk right in. Yes, the seats are to the far right, but is there a bad seat for Fantasmic? :)

One thing to note (that I don't think has been mentioned) this is an actual reservation, so you'll need your credit card when you call to make it.

This thread is not DVC specific and is being moved to the restaurants board.

Fantasmic is included with admission and you can get much better seats by waiting in line. They still tell you to enter the theater 45 minutes ahead of time, even with the pass. I wouldn't bother with the package unless you were planning on eating at the restaurant anyway. I've never had to wait more than an hour for front row seats. There are usually seats available up there if you look.
