Last year we took our little ones to MGM. We got there late afternoon. By the time we ate, the kid attractions had closed for the day (lesson learned).

Anyway, I am planning MGM on a Sunday morning this trip - please give me some insight on to how to plan for a morning there with a 2 and 3 year old. We plan on getting there around opening. We will do attractions and then head back to the resort for lunch and swimming. With our little babes we can only do 2-3 hours at a time :)

Many Many Thanks!!

p.s. interested in toddler attractions only - big kid stuff another day!

I would check the schedule and see when Playhouse Disney starts. Then, check the Beauty and The Beast schedule. If you think your little ones would sit through those, then that would probably fill most of your time. My dd was terrified of the Little Mermaid show at that age - I had to take her out when it got dark and started "raining" in the theater. She also cried in the Muppet 3D show. :(

If you were to do mainly those two shows, you may not have to get there at opening. They don't tend to start very early - more like 10 or 10:30.

For our first "family" trip, my girls were almost 2 and almost 4. It was interesting to say the least. We had one miserable morning in MGM when our parents went ahead of us so we could let the girls sleep in a bit. When we finally got to the park, our younger dd was having such a fit we couldn't even stay in line for Playhouse Disney. We ended up going back to the room and not doing anything in any park that day (turns out, she was coming down with something ... poor thing.) We wasted a whole day on our hoppers that day.

That was really our only problem day that trip - I don't mean to worry you. I'm glad you're planning to take it easy. Have fun!!

They have all the characters ( Little einstiens, and others) on the back stage Mickey ave (Ithink) in trailers to see.

We never really enjoyed MGM up until this past summer. We tried when my kids were 3.5 and 1 but our 3.5 yr old was terrified of everything that trip. We tried again when they were 4.5 and 2, but they were both terrified of most of the MGM attractions at the time. The only thing they both liked was the playhouse disney show, which is definitely enjoyable for preschoolers.

Now, this summer, we did a full day of MGM with our 6yr, 4yr, and 1.5 yr olds and we really enjoyed ourselves. Our older two were able to get past their fears this year and our little one was too young to have any fears.

Your kids would probably love playhouse disney and possibly the Honey I Shrunk...playground if you feel like chasing them around, lol! My kids also enjoyed the Beauty and the Beast show. Little Mermaid was scary for them, up until this past summer. They also were scared of the muppet 3d show until this year.

Get a times guide from your hotel or when you enter the park. The mistake a lot of people make when coming to MGM is getting there too late to see all the shows. With the age of your children, I recommend Playhouse Disney, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. The other shows with set times are Lights, Motors, Action! (car stunt show) and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular (my home, live action stunt show) Your young ones may or may not enjoy those.

Playhouse and Mermaid are both indoors, so they run a bit later. Beauty and the Beast is typically done by midafternoon. Also, the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground closes at sunset. I think that covers everything.

I would start out with Playhouse Disney. Then go back and see the characters in the trailers. The lines for them seem to be shorter than the ones by the hat. I would also let them play in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground. After this, I would see how they are doing and probably do some of the indoor shows.

Most of the shows don't start until around 11, except for Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney. I'd try to get to the first play house Disney, then swing over to mermaid. Walk down the walkway from Mermaid and greet the characters. If you go to the 1st B&B show head towards the hat and greet those characters on your way. If you are going to the 1st stunt show, head over to Muppet Vision and see that. If the park is not busy, you can show up 15 min before the stunt show and still get a seat. If the park is crowded, you'd want to be sure to have a fast pass and get there early.

All of the above suggestions are wonderful. But, you should also make time to enjoy the atmosphere! Throughout the day, there are many characters out in front of the Sorcerer's Hat signing autographs. They play festive Disney theme music, and when our kids were little, that was the best part of the entire trip! It just puts you in a Disney mood. The parade at MGM is fabulous, and I can't imagine any child being frightened by that parade. So, you may want to consider that, as well.

We love the Studios. Enjoy your trip.
