I just posted a long-winded plea for help, and it disappeared! Here we ago again, this time I'll try the condensed version.

Two families of four, (2) 11 yr olds and (2) 9 yr olds. Going to MGM for one day only, first visit for everyone. Have made 2 reservations, one at 11:00 for Sci-Fi, and one for 3:55 at 50's PTC for an early dinner. We want to experience both restaurants, but the Sci-Fi is more of an "attraction" for the kids, and we will probably just have appetizers or share some entrees to tide us over to the big meal later in the day. The early dinner is to eat early so we can enjoy some rides/attractions while everyone else is having their FDP meal. We expect to line up @ 6:30-6:45 for the 7:30 Fantasmic ( but we do have another evening later in the week that we can come back *JUST* for Fantasmic if need be...)

Can anyone recommend a touring strategy for newbies, taking the 2 ADR's and the wait time for Fantasmic into account? Thanks for your help!

What day are you going?

Are there any "must do's" like RnRC or ToT??

The SciFi is great - everything is huge so make sure that you split some things so you're not overstuffed. We've never eaten at the 50's PTC but hear its great and given the age of your kids, probably very appropriate!!!! (the wait staff will have a great time hazing your kids)

You need to hit Tower of Terror and Rock-N-Roller Coaster as soon as you get in the park - they're great and your entire party will love them!!!

Our standard touring technique is to go straight to ToT when we get in the park, get a Fast Pass for it and then proceed on to RockanRollercoaster. Do the standby line, its not to bad early. As soon as you get off the coaster if the hour since you got your Fastpass has gone by get one to the coaster. If not wait around till you can. That way in less than about an hour you get three rides. Since the last time we were there they have added the Lights Motorcar Action Stuntshow and I understand you can get a FastPass for it without it effecting your other FastPasses so you might want to send the fastest person over there to get a FastPass fo it between you first rides.

Having said all that the other option is instead of going to ToT first thing, go the other way. My understanding is if you do you will have the rest of the park virtually to yourself for two or three hours. Then as time permits work in Tot and RoRC in the afternoon. Either way you will have a great time.

Since Sunday is the EMH (evening) for MGM, we are going on MONDAY! That was the suggested tour day because hopefully, those who took advantage of the later evening hours the night before will either skip MGM the next day, or at least sleep in!

RnRC & ToT are both must do's. Indiana Stunt Show, and Lights, Motorcars, Action! are sure to be a hit with the boys (9). I know the girls (11) are interested in Beauty & the Beast, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid, as well as Honey, I Shrunk the Audience ( is that still playing? Do I even have the right park?) Basically we want to see everything, or as much of everything as we can. The big 3 are RnRC, ToT and Fantasmic.

I agree - you should get the RNRC and ToT out of the way early in the morning. You have made two great choices for meals as well. Sci-Fi is like an old drive in movie - so it's dark, and they play trailers for old sci fi movies - the Prime Time Cafe is a hoot! Remember - no elbows on the tables. We have reservations there for lunch in November when my Mom, sister and a friend are visiting!

Honey I Shrunk the Audience is at EPCOT.

We enjoy pretty much everything at MGM - but my all time FAVORITE THING is FANTASMIC. No matter how many people come and visit us - we will sit and wait with them to see that show - it gives me goosebumps.....

Good luck and have fun.

I had a feeling I was in the wrong place! That must have been really funny for you folks who go all the time. ( I guess that could be added to the "Funniest Things Overheard Thread" if I had said it instead of typed it!)

I would recommend Touringplans.com. It's cheap and they'll do a great job setting things up for you so you can optimally see everything
