I just made ressies for my DH and I to go the ESPN Weekend in March. Since we will be in MGM quite a bit, what are your favorite TS restaurants (besides Brown Derby - don't want to use up 2TS meals) in the park??? I want to make my dining ressies so what are your thoughts????? :confused3

50s Prime Time Cafe is the quintessential themed Dining experience. It is as much of a must-see as any attraction at WDW.

I love the 50's too! Sci Fi can be fun if you are into the movie clips, but stic with the burgers and shakes! :thumbsup2

We like Prime Time 50's and Sci Fi for TS meals. There is also Mama Melrose, which is an italian place. I'm not that found of the Italian places at WDW, so we do not go there.

The other TS place is Hollywood and Vine. This is a buffet but a TS place. There are good and bad reviews here.

We are doing Brown Derby on the DDP for Fantasmic Dinner package. We love the food here and you can get the dinner package on the DDP.

For CS meals we like the Back Lot and the burger place down by the Tower of Terror - can't remember the name.

But we always go to the ESPN club which BTW is on the DDP.

Mama Melrose is one of our favorite WDW restaurants so that gets my vote.

Another vote for Mama Melrose. I think this place is underrated. My DW and I have a very good lunch there a few weeks ago. We also have had excellent dinners there as well. :)

Sci Fi and Prime Time are wome of our favorites in and out of MGM. They both have incredibly unique atmospheres. I think the burgers and sandwiches as well as the shakes at Sci Fi are very good. No idea why this place gets such a bad rap food wise. We have always had very good, fast service and excellent burgers.

I was excited about the 50's prime time experience....until I experienced it. Having a teenager tell me to get my elbows off the table and eat my veggies did not have the same appeal as what was advertised. There was no 50's TV mom to be seen anywhere.

Big Bummer!

We enjoy H&V, so if you like buffett, this is a good choice. I didn't like the atmosphere at 50's Prime Time, as I don't want to be scolded while I try and enjoy my meal. That was a real turn-off for me.

:thumbsup2 I agree; this is our choice too. Great salads and brick oven pizza. I'm also not a big fan of the "interaction" at Prime Time...seems a little too forced to me.

We love the Hollywood & Vine...it's a must for us every time we go. If you call the reservation line before you go and ask for the Fantasmic dining package, they will give you tickets for the show that night...no waiting in line! It doesn't cost anything to reserve, but they do ask for a credit card number to hold the reservation. About 30 minutes before show time, head to the special entrance with your tickets and they will let you through. The seats are off to the right of the stadium, but we have no trouble seeing and it's great to not have to wait in line!

I have been to all of the MGM restaurants over the years except for Hollywood and Vine, and my overall favorite would have to be 50's Prime Time. It is especially fun if there are people in your party who grew up in that era. I remember that the food was very tasty.

Sci-fi was fun for me because DH and I are huge sci-fi fans in general. We just had burgers and they were fine. Mama Melrose was okay, not great, but I went 11 years ago so things have probably changed since then. Believe it or not, my least favorite was Brown Derby. I didn't care for the theming and the food was somewhat bland.

Here's my two cents worth on the table service spots at the Studios, keeping in mind that there are only five TS spots in the park: (Unless they have added one since I was last there this past March.) I have eaten at all five at least twice in the past.

The Brown Derby is by far the best. I'd rethink my decision not to go there.
The Sci-Fi Dine-In has about the worst food, and poorest service, I've experienced anywhere at WDW. I would rule it out at once!

So, that leaves you with three choices, all of which are not bad. In order of preference, I would say ... Mama Melrose's, 50's Prime Time, Hollywood & Vine.

Enjoy.

Another vote for H&V, great food, nice people, fun atmosphere. Didn't like SciFi, hard to eat off the trays, food wasn't that great and server acted like she was bored.

Totally agree!!! We LOVED this place. Can't wait to be there this week!!!

We love Mama Melrose and 50's PTC. We tried Sci-Fi on our trip in May and we were glad we did. The kids loved it and it was just so cool in there! The onion rings are the best we've ever had! The rest of the food was good too but we did stick to burgers because of the bad reviews their food has gotten here.

Our fav is Mama Melrose. My DD13 had chocolate cake for dessert there, and dubbed it "Oh My God Good" chocolate cake! The food, service and atmosphere were great.
