MGM Day Dining

Each time we travel, we have a hard time figuring out what to eat on our MGM day. We've been to Sci-Fi and Prime Time but we find that it isn't really a good value on the plan considering what you can get at other TS restaurants.

What do you do on your MGM day? We were thinking of possibly going to a character breakfast before we start our day at another resort... but what would you recommend with a bunch of boys???

We love lunch at both Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. Most trips we manage to go to both.

For table service at MGM, I always prefer Brown Derby. It is the best food at the park, IMO. It is more expensive, but you are on vacation. Way worth it! The seared tuna is amazing, the filet is super tender, the cobb salad is the best ever, and the martinis kick it off the best! Make Mom & Dad happy, go to Brown Derby!:woohoo:

I don't care about the value, frankly. We go to '50s Primetime Cafe because we enjoy it. With appetizer, entree, dessert, and a drink, we still spend enough per person to make it worthwhile. Besides, Brown Derby is really the only other TS at MGM that appeals to me and that is 2 TS credits. I'd rather save my signature for CA Grill or Citricos.

You could go to Beaches & Cream... You have to walk or take the boat, but I heard it's definately worth it!

I like Brown Dreby a lot but I wouldn't do it on the dining plan. I don't think the cost justifies using 2TS credits.

We have little kids so we're doing H&V for breakfast this trip. We like to do PTC for lunch but again it's not a great value on the ddp. We're thinking of trying MM this trip, I haven't eaten there in about 12 years.

Most the time we end up getting pizza for the kids and I grab a turkey sandwich from Backlot Express or something from Studio Catering.

Next trip, we decided to take the boat to Beaches adn Cream (one of our faves) and pay OOP. Then we will use our extra credits for dinner in the Castle on our MK night.

Our other option would've been LeCellier or one of the other WS restaurants (again take the boat from MGM).

You could always go to Spoodles or anywhere else on the boardwalk by taking the boat. Can you tell we like to take the boat? It's a nice, easy ride.

We enjoyed our dinner at Mama Melrose and are returning there.

Ok... I did it. I booked Sci Fi for the gang... it's all guys so I think they'll like it. :happytv:
