I have been reading nothing but bad things about the ABC Commissary-- i am trying to choose a CS meal while at MGM and the choices are VERY slim!

i am looking for a CS that has more of a meal than a snack selection (desserts etc) because i am on the dining plan and the only other place that i have read about was Starring Rolls......

anybody?............ :confused3

thank you! :wave2:

I think D-MGM is a great place to have a table-service meal instead of a counter-service meal. That works out well for us, since MK is a great place to have a counter-service meal instead of a table-service meal.

I TOTALLY agree with you Bicker!....however, we will @ MGM for the day, i am doing Mama Melrose for TS (I LOVE Brown Derby, been there several times-- but 2 credits pp- dont think so! :sad2: )- i wish MGM would step up with their restaurants etc.

but much earlier in the day i need to choose a CS meal.......i think i will check out Starring Rolls or Flabread Grill.......seems anywhere but ABC will be .....ok. :rolleyes2

IMHO----MGM is NOT the place for a good meal..unless its Brown Derby.

Thanks!

How about Backlot Express? We ate here on both of our recent trips and the food is always good and hot. The desserts were great too. My dh had the grilled sandwich (I think it was turkey and cheese). He said it was the best sandwich he had all week.

I agree, try Backlot Express. My husband enjoyed the grilled turkey and there were enough choices for the children. They do have a dessert selection, small, but if you are on the dining plan, try it. We have always been lucky to be able to have a choice of seats, and we are 6.

We did Flatbread Grill(if it's the one by the HISTK playground) and found it to be okay. It was my least favorite CS, but there was enough food and it tasted fine. The portions aren't as big as other CS restaurants though. My sister got the wrap and I got the pulled pork sandwich with a bag of chips. She didn't care for the fresh fruit eclair, but I liked it fine especially on account of the fruit. However, do not order juice there!! I thought I would be healthy and get juice instead of soda for lunch and ended up with a juice box. I had to use a snack credit since I was so thirsty later on for a soda.

just checked out BL express menu and i looks pretty good- i have never eaten at a CS at MGM before and was unsure where to go.......BL does look pretty good ........thanks guys :goodvibes

Sleeping Jedi Beauty thanks for the scoop on FG- if is just ...ok-- i think i will cross that off my list ;)

anyone else have a thumbs up for BL express CS?? :thumbsup2

I agree with Backlot Express. It was very good and not very crowded at all when we have eatten there. Also, they allowed us to get the frozen cokes as our beverage last August during free dining, but I have no idea if they still allow that.

Stay far, far, away from ABC Commissary- YUCK!

Skip ABC at all costs. Dreary, dry, unappealing food. Backlot Express is much better.

We ate at Backlot Express in Feb. and agree it was very good. Lots of choices and the line moved fairly quickly - we also had a great CM at the register! One word of caution - the entrance to Backlot is right at the exit to the Indiana Jones show. As we were approaching the rest. we could see that the show was just letting out, so we made a run for it and just beat the massive crowds! So plan your timing around the Indiana Jones show ending time!
