MGM Character Meal Update Thread

Just read elsewhere that it looks like there may be problems re the characters, as Pixar aren't happy with some aspects of the proposed meal!

I saw that too. Here's what is said at MousePlanet.com:

Last week, we reported a rumor that the Toy Story Breakfast and Beyond character meal at Hollywood & Vine in the Disney-MGM Studios would be delayed, but possibly transformed into both breakfast and lunch. We have heard a new rumor that the meal has now been delayed further and possibly cancelled due to concerns from folks at Pixar about how their characters were to be portrayed in the show. It's possible that the meal may go on with the character meet-and-greets, but without the planned Green Army Men show. We'll let you know as we're able to get confirmation or denial of this change.

This is all still rumor though.

The meal with meet and greet is fine with me. I hope that this all works out by August! I was half-expecting booking to become available this weekend, since I was out of town without computer access. Next time that happens will be mid-May, so I hope I safely have my ADR in hand before then.

You know after reading the rumor from mouseplanet... anyone else think that they are really OVER thinking this? I mean look at CRT - they've added a "show" - do the guests want a show, or do they just want to meet and greet the characters? To get an autograph, a picture and some "personal time"???? It doesnt sound like that's what they are planning for the MGM breakfast...

It sounds like with the new agreement, with the new "leadership" he's trying to make his own mark - he'd better get a better understanding - look how fast and how wonderful the Mother's Day Breakfast - the hero thing was!! Just give us Buzz, Woody, a few heroes here and there, and we're good to go!!! imho of course!! How hard is this? Its NOT,unless you are trying to choreograph a SHOW!! ugggg!!

I agree with you!! I was thinking the same thing when I read that post yesterday. We just want to see/meet the characters at our meal!

I am not sure how reliable Mouseplanet is, but I hope they are wrong. I have been waiting patiently.....well not So patiently for this meal to open in hopes of surprising my DS in June.

From what I can tell, MousePlanet is pretty accurate. I have followed their info on things in the past and found it to be true.

From the beginning the rumors about this meal have been that it involves actors in a different union than the characters at the other meals, etc. I didn't realize there was supposed to be a "show" witht he Army men. Well, it will be interesting to see what happens. We are extremely top heavy with TS meals in August, so if it doesn't happen we'll just watch & see if we can catch it in December.

I'm really not understanding why it is such a problem...If Buzz moving around is the prob then use woody, he's my fave anyway. If the army men can't do a show then use Someone from Monster's Inc. Do a different movie Hero!! It shouls\dn't be so difficult. Maybe there is more to it than they are telling. Looks like they could do more than just one anyway, Maybe a toy story theme at one place and an Incredibles at another. HEre's a little pixie dust to try and help the process.

CM told me is that "there is no MGM character meals at this time". I asked if any were comming soon and she said "anything is possible".

Well, if Buzz can't move around easily because of his wings. And Woody is pretty darn tall so maybe he would have trouble moving around too. It also seems like the Monsters Inc. guys would have problems too because they are so big and round???

I hope it doesn't fizzle out. I was so sure it would be up and going before our 4th of July trip.

My child is older but, we (including DH & I) were most anticipating the Army Men (hut, hut, hut)...they crack us up.

Perhaps inlieu of charactars making the rounds to the tables (it is a smallish venue & tables are pretty close), they could be ensconsed on a banquet/seats during the meal. Then they could have a meet & greet after the meal @ an alternative site for the diners (sort of like where they Monsters are in the garage area now?)

Yes, I'm afraid I am grabbing @ straws, MGM needs more dining options for brunch/lunch as opposed to the CS & really pricey sit-downs.
