MGM Character Meal Update Thread

I called today to start making my reservations for July and while I was on the phone I asked about the character meal at MGM (Hollywood & Vine). I was told that there is no character meal scheduled for MGM at any restaurant. I was also told and read somewhere else on another Disney forum website that there used to be a character meal at Hollywood & Vine and it was stopped.

Has anyone heard anything otherwise. I keep checking this forum because my 6 year old nephew would love to see the incredibles.

Any info will help. I really would like to make that one of the character meals that I go to.

A lot of CM's really have no clue what is going on outside of the memo's that they receive. It is also rumored that they are told to deny things until they are released publicly. So, I put very little into what you were told. There is always a chance Disney will change things at the last minute, but so far, it looks very promising that this will happen. We'll all have to wait and see.

Also, there are alot of us here on the restaurant forum who are going to WDW in April, so if nothing else, some of us can see what we can find out down there.

Nothing yet, but CM had me on hold for a quite a while as she checked on it. I really thought she was going to come back with some news, but once again nothing!

While I still hope that it starts soon, if it doesn't start before your trip then that is a perfect reason to return. If we miss it, it will be my excuss!

I called dining earlier today to check & CM acted like I was insane - well, maybe but...

Grilled me (no pun intended) as to where I ever heard that there would even be such a meal & insisted that no such thing was in the works .

Such candlestine operations @ WDW, better @ holding secrets than the government.

Since I have the first post on this thread I wanted to have the 500th! Could you believe 500 posts?!! I have just about given up all hope that we will be able to do this meal in May. Maybe we will just have to plan a year end trip! I will keep updating the thread until ADR's are being accepted. Hang in there!!!!

Woohoo! I just wanted to say thanks for keeping up this thread, you rock!! Can't wait to hear more about this meal, even though we're not going till the fall.

I just called to modify one of my ressies and the super nice but also very efficient CM asked if there was anything else he could do for me. I said "not unless you can get me a character breakfast at MGM". He laughed and said, "you've been reading too many message boards!" I said, "so it's not true then?" He said, "umm... check back in April." I said, "is that what they tell you to say?" He said (still kind of laughing), "umm ... just check back in April."

Just thought I'd share that.

Just an FYI to those of you who may not know this. You don't have to post to a thread to subscribe to it. If you look at the top of the thread there is a tab that says "thread tools" on it. If you click on that there is an option to "subscribe to this thread" so that you can subscribe.

I just got off the phone with a CM and was told, "The character breakfast at MGM is just a rumor, there is no character dining at MGM." She sounded annoyed that I was asking about it. I guess it depends on who you talk to when making your dining ADR's, some are more helpful than others.

Boy I got a very angry CM this morning. She just kept saying over and over there is no character meal a MGM (very rude like). I just ended the call by say "well you have a magical day, sounds like you could use one".

The servers have been hired, from what I hear they are now in the planning stages of taking the desert island out to build an area for Buzz to stay at. Seems he is too large to roam the dining room. Look for a May/June start date.

Wow - thanks for the update! We'll be there they first week of May, so I really doubt this will work out for us, but it's great to hear more news of progress amongst all this "squashing" of our hopes from the CMs.

Pretty sure all of the delays are because Food and Beverage said "hey lets add a character meal with Buzz and Woodie!" When entertainment showed up they said "Hey, you cant just add these things without thinking them out, Buzz is way too large to roam the dining room without knocking tables and chairs over."

I know in years past they had trouble with Tiggers tail knocking over beverages on tables.
