MGM is a disney resort and has changed it's name to "disney holywood studios". Universal is a competeing park in Orlando (and s. cal) with two parks and a resort/eating/shopping area akin to downtown disney.

Are MGM and Universal Studios 2 different theme parks? Are they both WDW resorts?

They are not "resorts," they are "theme parks."

The Disney/MGM Studios park is now called Disney's Hollywood Studios and it is a Disney-owned theme park.

Universal Studios is not a Disney-owned facility.

No, MGM is a much nicer park. MGM is now called Hollywood Studios and is one of Disney's parks and is on WDW property.

Universal is another park in Orlando, similar to what you would find at a Six Flags. It's slightly better, has a few more rides, and is has some nice movie themed rides like The Mummy, JAWS, and ET.

Actually, Universal has an indoor rollercoaster, dark rides, a motion simulator, shows and 3D experiences. What do you know? MUCH like Hollywood Studios!

So I guess that would make Hollywood Studios much like what you'd find at Six Flags too?

take a pill.

idk that either can be compared to Six Flags, but i've never been to Six Flags or Universal, so. :confused3

MGM/DHS is my favorite park. it encompasses the Hollywood of the 40's and 50's... it features an indoor rollercoaster themed around the awesome rock band, Aerosmith, a "free fall" elevator ride [Tower of Terror], a "Great Movie Ride" which highlights some of the classic films from way back when, a Star Wars area complete with motion simulator ride and Jedi Training Camp. This summer it will open up Toy Story Mania, a 4D "Space Ranger Spin" sort of ride that looks fantastic. The Animation Station is there, as well. DHS also has great stage/stunt shows - Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Indiana Jones!!!, Lights, Motor, Action, Playhouse Disney, and the fireworks phenom Fantasmic! There's also the 3D Muppets movie, not to mention fabulously themed eateries like 50's Prime Time Cafe, Mama Melrose's, Sci-Fi Dine In, and The Brown Derby. And even with that description, I'm sure I missed a lot!

Also, it should definitely be mentioned --- the Streetmosphere is incredible at DHS. the little side shows are hilarious, and it's really unlike stuff you would find at Universal. i wouldn't necessarily say that you should go to DHS if you're looking solely for adventurous rides. at the moment, it's rather lacking in that department. but i would definitely recommend going for the atmosphere, if nothing else.

again, though, i've never been to Universal.

Oh and the employees at Universal are slimeballs. They have a horrible attitude, there is just no effort on their part. They are just going through the motions. They don't care about the guests, at all!!
This is the type of post that makes people mad. I don't understand why you have to refer to employess at Universal as "slimeballs"...that is NOT cool.

Why would it make anyone mad? Do you have a relative who works there?

I'll tell you why I feel this way. I was ordering some food at a CS once and an employee who had a runny nose, wiped there hands on their nose to stop it rom running. And then proceeded to get my food without washing their hands. DISGUSTING!

Another incident was at the old Jetsons ride. The person who was in charge of letting people into the ride was abusing his powers. He let in 3 of his friends, who dressed like gangbangers. They had NO tickets to the park and I know this because I heard them discussing it, after the employee told his friends to stand in front of us. ***??

Another incident was on a more personal level. My girlfriend and I were waiting for MIB. We got down to the loading dock and there were 2 empty seats and we were next for them. Instead, the guy told us to wait and he told the COUPLE behind us to take the seats. ***? I was really confused and then I quickly figured out why he did it. He was flirting with my damn girlfriend and saying some very very crude things to her. My gf got really upset and swore at the guy and so did I. Guess what? We got thrown out of the ride.

The place is an absolute friggin joke!!! So yes, the employees are slimeballs!!! None of this has EVER happened at Disney!!
No...I don't have any relatives who work there but to post that a group of people are "slimeballs" just because where they work is why these threads always go downhill. If you think Universal is a joke, that's fine but there is no need to call their employees "slimeballs". I have several friends who work and Universal and Disney and they are not "slimeballs". What do you think would happen if someone posted that Disney cast members are "slimeballs"? Do you think no one would post anything in their defense? It's too bad you had a bad experience there but if you read the boards instead of attacking Universal employees, I think you will understand what I mean about how these threads go...or maybe not. :sad2:
