The reviews slam this pretty good. What did you think? The options are either this or Tokyo Dining.

I've eaten at San Angel twice and loved it both times. That was a few years ago though. We never made it this trip though.

I have been 3 times over the years and the food has been okay to real good. The last time I ordered a chicken breast on a bed (HUGE amount) of bell peppers and onions in a creamy chorizo sauce. I thought they were nuts. No one would eat all those peppers and onions....Man oh man was that good. I ate the whole thing. BUT the chips and salsa were like stale Tostitos and La Victoria bland salsa. Atmosphere is great.

It's mediocre Mexican fair in my opinion. Years ago it was really good, the quality was there but things changed and the food isn't the same at all.

I did not care for the food at all... I typically like traditional Mexican food. Plus, our server was very rude. I would not go back.

I've eaten here a few times and have not been impressed in a long time.
I won't waste another meal or $$ here. (Last time was in March)

I ate here the first year of the DDP and it was excellent.
But like most of Disney's restaurants the prices have gone up (to make DDP look like a better value) and the quality has dropped - IMHO.
There is no excuse for Bagged chips. (And don't tell me they are too busy to make fresh chips, I've been to Mexican and TexMex restaurants that are far busier and have fresh chips and fresh salsa.)

It's too bad because it is a waste of an excellent space.

I have not tried Tokyo Dining, but it seems to be very popular.
I would be far more willing to try that then eat in Mexico again.

I loved San Angel Inn, I am not sure why it gets a bad rap, except a lot of people go expecting texmex not traditional mexican.
The food we had there in march was great, not to mention the staff was courteous and very accomidating. (dh drinks a lot).
And the atmosphere, well so far I haven't found anything to beat it yet. It is fancy enough to feel so yet you don't feel out of place being in "park" clothes. I would eat there again in a heartbeat.

I have not eaten at the other place you mention, nor would I. Give San Angel a shot, seriously I don't think it is a mistake.

I've eaten there several times, most recently they had seemed to reduce portion size and increase the price. I was not happy. I will say it's my favorite atmosphere in WS though (aside from the elegance of France maybe).

I'm not sure why this place gets such a bad rap. My DGF and I eat here everytime we visit the World and absolutely love it. The steak we both got last time was amazing. (the fried plantains were excellent as well) I recommend going in with an open mind and I would guess you'd enjoy yourself. As said before by PP's, the atmosphere is wonderful as well.

I think it is worth trying it for yourself at least once! The atmosphere is great and we have had really great food there. I think that alot of people are disappointed because they expect "tex-mex" type food, like tacos, burritos etc. As far as the service goes, there is no promise you will have good service anywhere when you go out to eat, so I would not base your decisions on other people's experience with service! Give it a try and decide for yourself if it is your cup of tea :goodvibes

My group ate there on New Years Eve last time, and while it wasn't quite our cup o' tea, we all enjoyed it. Our serve was great; friendly, attentive, and extraordinarily pleasent. I had some sort of fish dish (forget which one), but it was really good. I can't remember what everyone else had, but 2 of my friends had the combination platter, and both said it was much better than they expected (picky eaters you know). I'd say give the menu a glance, and if it looks like they have something for you, give it a go!:goodvibes

edit; MHO, if the food at Tkyo Dining is at all comparable to Tepan Edo, then its amazing! It would get my pick.

I have to say that we hated it. The food was not good at all, and I am used to traditional mexican food vs tex-mex. The chips were bagged, and the salsa was definately canned. The service was horrible. Noone came to our table for 20 minutes, and then we never got refills on drinks at all. I am not terribly picky about restaurants, and will put up with bad service for good food. But this was really bad on both accounts. We will never go back. I haven't tried Tokyo dining, so I can't really compare, but that's just my opinion.

This is my family's favorite restaurant in Epcot. We can't wait to go back in January. I haven't had a bad meal here yet, food-wise, although I have had slow service. I recommend giving it a shot. The atmosphere is so lovely!

I LOVE the design of this restaurant but I think the food isn’t worth the prices they charge. I think the counter service outside at Cantina de San Angel is better and less expensive.

We tried it last August for the first time and the food was good! If you are looking for authentic mexican food....you would be disappointed. But in general I was very pleased and would definitely go back again...especially on the dining plan. The ambience is great and even though tables are close together and it can be slightly noisy it is relaxing and romantic in an odd way.
I say give it a try at least once.

We ate there last December and again in May and loved it both times, as did my Mom on the 1st trip and my inlaws on the 2nd trip. The Mole Poblano on the dinner menu is great, so is the Tortilla soup (sopa azteca). Don't go in expecting tacos, burritos, and enchiladas as it is not a Tex Mex restaurant which I think disappoints some people. If you haven't already, you can look at the menu at Allears.net.

We ate here in May '08 and liked it. The food was pretty good--except the chips and salsa like everyone else said--and the ambiance is great! We were able to sit right by the water and watch the boats go by. My kids loved the volcano, too. We would eat here again for sure...once we try a few other places in Epcot.

My experience at San Angel Inn; fantastic service (one of the best servers we've ever had!), great atmosphere, mediocre entree, but the fried plantains with sour cream were one of the best things I've eaten in all of Disney.

Tokyo Dining has great servers, a nice atmosphere, and delicious entrees. If I had to choose just one, I'd pick TD, but my experience at San Angel WAS a positive one. :thumbsup2

San Angel Inn is nasty, IMO. it does not resemble mexican food in any form or fashion. It is not Tex-Mex or Authentic....I do not know where they get their "flavours" from. I would go to Teppan Edo.
