Mexico Pavilion Dining Update

CS (Cantina) open all day.
TS (Hacienda) open starting at 4 PM.

2 different restaurants (1 CS, 1 TS ) will be located in the same building.

The Queso Fundido appetizer used to be our meal at San Angel--until they took it off the menu! It would be great if it's the same dish. The CS options sound like a big improvement.

Thanks to all for CLARIFYING the Mexico dining rehab situation.:worship:

We arrive at the end of September, so I'm hoping the 2 new restaurants will be open. But what is the current status? Is there nowhere to get a churro or beer in Mexico right now?:confused3

We're going in Sept also..... hopefully it will be open then. I'm kind of debating chucking our San Angel ressie for this. (although you can't make a La Hacienda ressie yet online) I guess I'll hold it for now.

I love San Angel for the ambiance though....maybe with the new restaurant they'll tweek their menu a little bit. :goodvibes

They will open ADRs once they announce the firm opening date. Right now the best that I've read is "In time for Food and Wine" and that's only as a comment by Disney's blogger who wrote the article.

After about the 4th question "When does it open" she finally cracked and said in time for food and wine. (The rest of her comments were we don't know yet - so she went back to the party line after her one slip)

Mexico will actually have four - San Angel Inn, Hacienda, Cantina, and La Cava del Tequila (which serves food)

Is La Cava del Tequila still open in August or are ALL food/beverage options other than San Angel Inn inside the main pavilion closed? We will be there first week in Aug and DW traditionally has a margarita as soon as WS opens. She will be TERRIBLY disappointed if not!

La Cava and San Angel Inn are and will be open. The only thing that isn't open (in the traditional sense) is the CS building in Mexico - you can still get CS in Mexico from a small F&W-ish stand outside to the left of the pavillion.

Anything inside the actual Mexico pavilion (the one with the volcano in it) is not affected at all by the renovation of Cantina de San Angel.

The temporary CS is Taqueria del Lago. The menu is limited and they have changed it since they opened it. There is no children's menu and they will take DDP.

That's good to know. Our kids loved quesadillas, so hopefully they will have them on the menu when we go the first week of August.

Can we make reservations for this restaurant already? Or will it be more of a soft opening in early August? We will be there between the 6th and 10th.

Thanks!!

No, you can't make an ADR yet as it doesn't appear as an ADR choice online.

Thanks for the menu link. I don't see nachos listed on the menu. Is there anywhere to get them at the Mexico pavilion?
You're welcome.

Here is a link to the recipe for San Angel Inn's Nachos del Pollo. But I can't find it listed anymore on their menu:

The Cantina de San Angel used to have nachos, but I couldn't find nachos listed on the menu of any WDW park. Don't they know we love nachos:confused3

From today's AllEars Newsletter:

Cantina de San Angel at the Mexico pavilion in Epcot has closed for a significant refurbishment and expansion until September 2010. The company that operates the restaurants in the Mexico pavilion, San Angel Inn, LLC, plans to open La Hacienda San Angel on the site, a new 250-seat waterside restaurant. La Hacienda will open daily for dinner ONLY at 4 p.m. (It was originally announced that the restaurant would serve both fast food at lunch and table service for dinner.)

For starters, the menu will feature queso fundido (warm cheese with poblano pepper and chorizo); a taco trio with rib eye, roasted chicken and pork; and traditional black bean soup. Entrees will include a mixed grill for two with flank steak, chicken, chorizo and vegetables (a seafood version features grouper, shrimp and scallops); roasted shrimp in pepper garlic broth; flank steak with spring onions, refried beans and cactus leaves; and grilled red snapper with roasted corn and cactus leaves. Desserts will include chocolate churros, sweet tamales and fruit empanadas. The other Mexico restaurant on the promenade, La Cantina, will be open daily at 11 a.m. and will have 150 outdoor seats. The new La Cantina menu will offer chicken and beef tacos on fresh handmade corn tortillas, nachos, a cheese empanada, guacamole and chips and churros. During the refurbishment, the San Angel Inn Restaurante and La Cava de Tequila, located inside the Mexico pavilion, and the Taqueria Del Lago, located alongside the promenade, will still be open for Mexican dining.
