:welcome: aboard Gerry! Your in for a fantastic cruise! :yay: :woohoo:

And another local too - I live in Norwalk - but I have a sister who lives in Long Beach too! We have a few other locals here but the threads been a bit slow in talking - probably do to "REAL LIFE" getting in the way. :rotfl2:

I also have a funny feeling that there will be more newbies on the sailing than Castaway Cay members. Who knows - many people haven't heard of the DISboards either so we shall see.

I think I was on my 3rd Disney cruise before I found out about the DIS. So how'd you find out?

Anyway, if you have any questions at all about the trip - don't hesitate to ask, some of us have done several Disney cruise (I'm scheduled to leave for my latest one on the 7th which is Wed.) Plus you even have an old cast member or two whom we can pick his brain for. SORRY VERN! not calling you old - just mentioning that you used to work for them. ;) 'Sides, your only as old as you feel and once I leave for WDW - I'm only 4 yrs old! :rotfl2:

Don't mind us Gerry - I've sailed with Vern before and he will be my tablemate - although he may find out he'll be sorry for that later.

Oh - and if you haven't heard - you may want to book a Palo's dinner - even if its for the dessert only. :) Trust me - your going to have trouble getting your 3 yr old out of the clubs. That one is the best club for under 5 yr olds. The dress up time will be awesome.

BTW, here's a tip for any other newbies out there - don't forget to bring a blank pillowcase and turn it into guest services so that the "characters" can sign it. They will do princesses, princes, or characters as long as you ask. Just bring a washed pillowcase - white works best with no embroidery and on embarkation day - turn it into guest services and by the end of the cruise - the pillowcase will return to your stateroom. This makes for a nice little reminder when your off the ship.

OK - 3 days and I'm off! :woohoo:

ok seems I'm like 4 pages back - going to go and "ketchup" a bit. be back later hopefully.

Hello everyone,

We are new to this post but not to Disney! This will be our fourth cruise but FIRST West coast. We booked it last time but had to cancel due to health, then booked the Mediter. but then got pregnant! So here we are. I just convinced my DH that we needed to go since we did not own in taxes this year--WHOO HOO! So two days later we picked this date and we are all booked. We now have three children DS 14+ almost 15, DS 7, and sweet little princess 16 months. She will be the close to the same age as our youngest son was the first time we went. He was known as the dancing baby the entire week. I am sure she will have a great time.

I would love to meet up. I did read some of the other threads and it looks like there is some fun stuff planned. I have never known to get on groups before the trip so this sounds pretty fun. Any ideas of what we should plan? Or have I missed the thread? I am pretty new to this so I am pretty clueless.

We look forward to meeting or getting to know you all. We are very excited!

 :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I'm so glad you are doing this, vrntnns!:yay: :woohoo: T-shirts could be a lot of fun, too!:thumbsup2

 :smickey: I was also wondering if anyone wanted to do fish extender exchanges?:confused3 It might be fun to bring things from our hometown to share in fish extenders, along with the usual stickers, etc. I bought fabric to make a couple of fish extenders, (we booked two Cat 10s) but don't want to make them unless others want to participate.

Kerri

I always bring my FE (fish Extenders) Yippee! Now we're chatting!

Is is just me....I keep getting an error when I click on the link....I would love to see the design....Help!!!

I get an error as well. I wanna see.

Me three me three! Can't see, Cant' see AND also, can't type anymore! :lmao:

Hi, everyone, :wave2:

I’ve been lurking on this thread for awhile now and thought I’d better join up before it gets too late! We (me, DH, and DD (13)) are also booked on the July 20 Magic cruise. We’ve done 2 Carnival cruises to Mexico but this will be our first Disney cruise and we are so excited! :yay:

I agree - No more lurking!!!!!!

For those that are cruising with Disney for the first time, we got a book back in 2005 that really helps with "everything" about, on, and, around the Disney Cruise Line. www.passporter.com That year I went to Barnes & Noble and found the book. You can order it on this website. It's been updated for this years cruises. Just a bit of info for ya'll.
Oh, by the way we are back on the first page!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Also, coming in 10 days is the Repo Cruise... They are bringing back our ship to the west coast!:dance3:

VERN, don't you mean that I'm bring you all the Magic back? I promise to bring her back to you all safe and sound.

As for the door signs - I can post what some people did to give others ideas.

Vern, can you send me a copy of your door sign?

Thanks.

Dang lost my thoughts - oh well, back to page 32 for me.

Thanks Vern for the other door design pictures....they were great!!!! My husband and I actually went last weekend and picked up some of those paint sample Mickey Heads....loved the balloon idea you did with them...BrandyC and I have the noncreativeness (is that a word??:rotfl: ) in common. Love looking at all the ideas but get a total block whenever I sit down to create one....

Add me to that list of non-creativeness. I do however, take some good pictures so I can be our photographer if you all'd like? :rotfl:

I am a first-time cruiser, but from what I can tell by reading the cruise board, to participate in fish extender exchanges, we hang a cloth item http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=fish+extender&category0= with pockets by our stateroom door on the fish that is there to hold notes. I think it is like a giant fish clip. We determine the number who want to participate and their party make-up (adults, kids, etc). We then bring items (little gifts) to put in the pockets of the fellow DIS'ers who are participating. The items would be things our city or state are known for, items to make pirate night more fun, items that would be helpful but might be overlooked, our just cool little items that are fun to have.

The benefits of participating are the exercise of walking up and down the different deck corridors looking for fish extenders to put items into (burns off some of those extra calories) and the surprises you get in your own extender when you return to your room.

Kerri

Kerri, you got the right idea, FE's are lost of fun and never underestimate the fun of getting back to your room and finding something waiting for you.

We also will be taking the July 20th disney cruise to the Mex Riv can't wait. This is my Twin D first cruise Syd and Sar age 10, our second cruise although first on disney. Cat 5, 7th floor, room ,who knows registered toooo late for room assignment. Not too worried about it ? :rotfl2:

:welcome: Your in for a fun time.

We have no creativity at all.:sad1:

Wow, Vern! :cool2: The sign looks great! :thumbsup2 So, we are free to take it off here and print out our own for our doors?

So glad to hear that there are at least four families who want to participate in the fish extender gift exchange. I think it will be really fun!:wizard:

Any of you locals know of a place big enough for all of us, maybe a park, where we can meet up Saturday afternoon/evening before the cruise to say howdy to our fellow DIS'ers? For those of us coming from out of town or out of state, please have mercy on us and think close to San Pedro/Long Beach. I guess there are probably a lot of out of towners who will be over at Anaheim Saturday visiting Walt's park:tink: , so maybe we need to think of a spot in that direction.

Kerri

First add me to the list of non-creativeness, wait - deja vu! :scared1: OK that's it - I officially have lost it. BUt I am not creative either.

Second, add us to the list of FE's

As for a local place, Port of Long Beach is not the best place at night to meet, kinda dark but Ports O Call village is there - haven't been there in years but it used to be nice. Guess when I get off the ship, I can take a quick detour to check it out.

Third, I've attended some meets at Naples, and some other restuarants outside of Disney - Downtown DIsney, and one inside at the Blue Bayou restaurant. Best thing is to have someone in charge of finding out what everyone's pre-cruise plans are and figure out when to hold it. I would volunteer but I'm already handling the SM on the EB so I'm booked. But I would be more than willing to help someone set it up. Key word being HELP. Who knows, maybe after this cruise, I will have a bit more time open and can take it on if no one has offered. Right now, I am planning an impromptu meet at our DVC room on Thursday, May 8th at WDW, so I will see how that turns out.

Also, for any that not finalized plans for where they are staying, I've taken pictures of HoJo's which is literally right across the street and I've had some pictures of the rooms at the Grand CA and Paradise Pier, I will post them if anyone wants to know. Keep in mind that the rooms at the Grand CA are VERY expensive - at least to mee - for $400, can spend that elsewhere. Also, this will be summer season so prices may take a jump.

OK - all caught up for now and starving so off I go for brunch. Be back later hopefully.

Okay...I have tried to re-read all the thread but now I am getting confused...:confused3

Okay who is coordinating what is happening with our group? I know there is a master list of all DISers on the begining of the thread but who is keeping a list of the fish extender participants? I also saw something about magnets..is that the door sign that Vern made up? I have read some great things and I would love to start gathering goodies and fun stuff to put together for this cruise.

I would love to help with any planning but I am so new to the DIS that I may be a little clueless. It is great to hear so many new cruiser on this ship.....Disney is truly a dream!:lovestruc
Hi everyone,:)
I wanted to let you know that I have started cruise info on page 1. I have only put info that you have posted down. If you would like me to add more info (see my name) than just let me know. If You would like me to deleate your info please let me know that also...also as we move along I will put all of us in order of rooms so it is easier to see who we will be our neighbors...

Hope all is going well. As we move closer we can start planning fun things for those of you that would like to meet. WE can talk about door signs for this cruise and help those of you on how to make them if you would like them. And T-shirts..what ever...and keep inmind that not everyone needs to participate, only if you want to.

Any and all ideas are welcome so be sure to add all your input!!! I will have to be the one to add the info on page one because I am the only one who can edit it...so just let me know what you would like added!!!

I look forward to the next 1 1/2 years of excitement with you!!!:thumbsup2

Have a great day...Robin:cool1:
Hi just a small correcton DD Sydney 10 and DD Sarah 10, twins

Hi Jberkman - not sure how new you are to the DIS but in order to post a PM - private Message - you must have a minimum of 10 posts. If you look at your thread name on the left hand side of the posts -you will see your name, an avator and then some info usually where your from. If you mouse click on the name - you'll get another menu come up in which you can send an e-mail, pm or view profile. Once you pass the required 10 posts, you can then pm any one of us for info of to talk privately.

OK, so now, how to get those 10 posts, just start posting some info on your party. Its easy. Also, keep in mind, that when you posts, you must have some content in there and you cannot post 2 posts within 40 seconds of each other. The Dang 40-second rule! :lmao: (Another story for another time)

As for FE, it might be best to eventually get a list on those participating. It doesn't look like this will be a big DIS group which will make it nice for those of us giving gifts, and yes, I will be participating. I've had groups of over 300 to give out! :scared1: Yes that was a tough one. :faint: And another story for later about :MickeyMo security.

As for magnets, yes - that is for our stateroom doors. It helps in identifying your door when your going down the halls, they all look alike eventually.

Also, for those participating in the FE's. Its best that you bring a zip tie to anchor your :fish: to the fish hook outside our stateroom. It keeps them from wandering. AGAIN, dont ask! But they do have a tendency to wander.

Okay...I have tried to re-read all the thread but now I am getting confused...:confused3

Ok - Karma is it? :wave2: My name is Laura, Got Disney - Robin was originally on this cruise but has moved on to the following cruise - when we disembark, she will be boarding. But since she has started the thread - she is still in control of it and has graciously been keeping track of us. Thanks Robin! She updates the first post list as needed. If you need to have any info changed, just PM her - see my post above - but keep in mind that youneed at least 10 posts in order to send a PM.

Now, as for list of FE's, its a good idea to have someone keep track of that and eventually as we get closer be prepared to have a list out for those participating in case someone forgets to bring along their list for dropoff. There are other groups (non-DIS) that also hang FE's so its better to keep a list of our group participating. Otherwise if you bring a select group and go by FE's you may find out your short!

Vern made up a picture which you may attach to a magnetic sheet in order to help you ID your room. It brightens things up and some people go all out. I will post an example of what I mean in a bit.

You don't need any experience to enjoy this group, for the most part, most DIS-sers are extremely happy, like-minded people who are great Disney fans. Just ask for any info and you will more than likely have an answer soon. All that is basically required is just to keep a spreadsheet or notepad with everyone's names or participation group and their stateroom numbers. If you decide to attempt it - and have any questions, just post on the thread, you'll have many suggestions on how to do it, if you all want, I can keep a spreadsheet on Xcell but I cannot do anything more until I get back which will be May 25th.

Now for some suggestions, I have received many things such as a roll of candy with the image of the Magic on it, some postcards, some tattoos, some examples of home, a hand-stitched key chain, a grab bag - that really came in handy which contained, safety pins, rubberbands, a pencil, paperclip, etc. Some things that you woudn't think you'd need and I ended up using. Its all up to you, its fun and some people chose to ID themselves by putting a small note whose it from and other chose anonimity. Some poeple chose to assign days and some just go whenever. Keep in mind that this is only 7 days and 3 of those are excursion days which do not make for a good drop off day unless you are staying on the ship. OK I think that's it for now.

Talk to you all later.

OK, here is an example of a door magnet which is basically a photo paper, flyer that has been attached to some magnetic paper which you can buy pretty easily.

TenerifeEBCrossing219.jpg

and here is an example of a decorated stateroom door. Off to the side you can see the silver fish - well that is part of the ship's decor. DCL uses it to leave any notes or your bill if it won't fit under the door. So that comes outside your stateroom. Hanging from it is a FE (Fish Extender) that someone brought and this is what you put your gift into. Also, don't fret if your not creative, some people just hang out a plastic bag. You can either make it or buy something to hang, but make sure you bring a zip lock tie to seure your :fish: I once found a wandering :fish: and returned it to the lucky owner. You can get creative and use just about anythign your want. I once saw a Xmas stocking as a FE. I can post other example later, right now, I have got to go to the post Office and drop off some packages. Bye!

For those of you on PST you can book your ressies at 9:00 pm tonight as it will be midnight on the east coast.

I'm ready to book my Spa Ressies and Palo Brunch ::yes::

NOW this is what I'm talkin' about! I like the activity here. I'm sorry I haven't been around.:confused3 Welcome Aboard Gerry and Co. Your now part of our Disney Family:grouphug: . Again I just want everyone to know that I'm Vern and if you email me at: vrntnns@verizon.net I will send you the group sign for your stateroom door. You can print it off yourself make sure you use photo paper when printing. Laura, your killing me again:lmao: you lost it along time ago! (but , so did I) Maybe Laura and I can come up with ideas for group meets. The one thing that might be a problem is: with others coming into town and Disneyland trips being planned before we set sail it might be hard to get together day(s) before. Just my thinking, Why not meet at the docks early Sunday morning? I know that many of ya will be worn out from traveling and all. Then we will have a couple of get-to-gethers during the cruise. Just a thought?

Robin I sent you the info by way of PM. I'm so excited its like working for Disneyland again and again... :rotfl2:

Yeah! I made our excursion reservations. :cool1: :cool1:

We are going to go snorkeling in Cabo and to Las Caletas in PV. In Mazatlan we are going to go horseback riding with Randi (not a DCL excursion, but if you like riding I can highly recommend this one; we did it on a previous cruise).

I couldn't make any brunch or high tea reservations at Palo - is there a chance there will be some spaces if I try once we get on the ship?

Laura - thanks for all the information you posted. Have a great time on your cruise! :sail:

This is what will be going on for dining.....

"Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual" -- no shorts, swimwear or tank tops;
jeans are allowed. Most cruises also have special theme nights. Below is
the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject to
change:

On 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises:
*Nights 1, 3, 4, & 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 5: pirate night with deck party
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit

At this time we are still finalizing the evening show schedules and
expect to have them available very soon.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!"
