Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos

Yeah! I made our excursion reservations. :cool1: :cool1:

We are going to go snorkeling in Cabo and to Las Caletas in PV. In Mazatlan we are going to go horseback riding with Randi (not a DCL excursion, but if you like riding I can highly recommend this one; we did it on a previous cruise).

I couldn't make any brunch or high tea reservations at Palo - is there a chance there will be some spaces if I try once we get on the ship?

Laura - thanks for all the information you posted. Have a great time on your cruise! :sail:

Yes - there is always a few spots left open but make sure that you beeline it to Palos on embarkation day to get the next best spots available. And if by some crazy chance there isn't - ask to be put on a waiting list - they always have openings.

Robin - can you add me to the FE list? LOL - I will give you the staterooms later - right now - I have got to get to bed. I will be some ugly lady come a few hours from now! ;)

This is getting fun!

Laura & Vern - I may be mistaken, but did either of you go on the 2005 cruise right about the very same week (late July) out here in Los Angeles? I seem to recall your names from back then. We did a group meet in the Promenade Lounge maybe the 1st or 2nd day aboard? If not, I apologize. You both just seem so familiar to me.

Kveens - My daughter just loves emailing back and forth with your DD! She looks forward to chatting and I know meeting up will be so much fun! Thank you!!!

LV Disney Fan - Just wanted to say that you won't be alone in Mazatlan going to see Randi! My family - me, dh, DD and DS - will be doing this as well. Have you done this ride before? This is our second time. The first time was such a memorable experience. Looking forwarding to meeting!

Have a great day!

I have edited the first page again and took my info off about me :thumbsup2 I also started the FE list and Lara you are the only one so far on it :lmao: So all of you let me know who to add. I am on the DIS everyday ( yes I have no life) so can keep track for you all.

There is still a lot of info missing on dinning times and children and states you are from including cabin #'s. Will need all cabin numbers to add to the FE list so you can at the end ,print it out and take it with you so you know where to put your gift. Cant do that without room numbers :rotfl2:

So help me fill in the blanks....have a great blessed day :thumbsup2

It is so great to see all the activity on here lately. I check almost every day to see what is going on. :yay: Laura--thank you for the update....newbie!

Thanks to eeyorelvr10(Laura?) for the pictures. How did you know how big to make the Mickey ears around the door? Where did you get the colored ones in the picture? I think those would be fun to make but if you already have a template or know where I could get one that would be great:thumbsup2

Does anyone know about the Mickey's Dream show? I saw it on another post and wondered if that will be on our trip.

Has anyone tried to schedule Flounders Nursery hours? I noticed that they give you a 10 hour max. for the whole cruise. Can you up that if they do not fill up? Not that I don't want Breanna to be with us but we hope to celebrate and enjoy the MAGIC:love2: with out her at some point:ssst:

Have a great day!

Hi All,
Dlandfan here. I have not been posting lately. April is always a crazy month for our family. It just seems like everyone is always doing something in a different direction. Add in 4 birthdays in our family and the endless birthday parties that we where invited to it makes for a crazy month. :scared1:

As a first timer we could not book our daytrips until last night. But, at 9:00 sharp I was at my computer and booked!!:cool1: I'm getting really excited!! We are going to do the dolphins in Cabo and a beach trip in PV.

I'm trying to read everything that I have missed and get caught up.

I'll check in soon.

YES, you are correct That was I and I think that I can speak for Laura too.( since she's busy going and getting our MAGIC for us) I thought that I had seen squirrelgirl somewhere. Welcome back! ( As if I was the Captain:rotfl2: ) I just played one at Disneyland, or should I say I got to pilot the Monorail.:lmao: So how are things? email me and I'll send our door sign to ya. vrntnns@verizon.net

Yes, we rode with Randi a few years ago and had a blast! It will be fun knowing someone else on the ride. How old are your DD and DS? My DD will be barely 13 - her birthday is a week before the cruise - and I'm a little nervous about her spending time in the Stack with the older teens. :worried: But she's excited! Anyone else have a young teen?

There is a thread in the Cruise forum with a template of the Mickey ears and the dimensions they need to be. Here's the link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1811017

I also saw your question about the magnets in Kristine's thread. All you have to do is post a message telling her exactly what you'd like and she will create the signs for you to download onto your computer and then print. She has a lot of requests though so it may take a few weeks. But we have time (I asked her for some too).

It's really fun talking with everyone through these posts. Hopefully it will make the time until July 20 go by faster! :yay:

Vern,

I am so pleased to hear your response.! It was our first cruise and I remembered you because of your enthusiasm and energy at our DIS meet (to those who have been reading this board...this comes as no shock, I'm sure :rotfl: ) I remember going around and introducing ourselves by our screen name...only to have everyone make a collective "aaahh" type response when we all made the rounds. I do hope we can do that again - it made for such a nice week whenever we would bump into another DIS board member during the cruise! I will email you soon to get a copy of the sign, right now I am not on "my" computer...it would be lovely to get that, thank you so much:goodvibes

LV Disney Fan - Happy Birthday to your DD!:flower3: My DD is a bit younger, as she is turning 11 the day we get on the ship. My DS is only 8. Hopefully the girls will be able to meet and chat, even though mine will still be in the Lab. Randi is a hoot and everyone she works with was so kind! I always described the ride to others as this once in a lifetime type event...riding through these beautiful coconut groves, along the water, etc. To do this again is just wonderful. Little story...when we went last time, you know how they take your camera for a family picture on the beach near the middle of the ride? Well, I loved our photo so much that I decided to have it made into an 8x10 to frame at home. I got it back and had it all finished when my DD called by attention to a not so little overlooked detail. My sweet little family - happy, smiley family of four - all on our horses on the beach.....and my DD says "oooh, what's that under your horse, mom?" Well, my horse is relieving itself, significantly as it is a significant horse, um, and this has been captured midway through the process on film:scared1: . Oh yes...it is lovely. The good news is we caught this before I used this as our Xmas photo:lmao: I still have that picture in a frame on the wall...because now I have a happy picture of my sweet little happy family that makes me smile..and laugh...because it is just so real, which makes it something I love even more (well probably more if my DH was on that horse...hehe;)

Very funny story, squirrelgirl regarding the family photo.:lmao: My DD is also enjoying writing e-mails to your DD. She just isn't as dedicated to responding so quickly as yours does. They should get along splendidly, from what I am hearing from my DD.

Thanks, Vern for sending over the photos and door magnet page.:thumbsup2
When my DD found out you had been captain of the monorail, she thought that had to be the coolest job ever! She wants to ride up front but hasn't had the chance yet. DS did and thought it was the best.

And big thanks:hug: to Cindy for keeping page one up-to-date for all of us You go girl!:cool1:

I finally got my excursions and Palo booked. We're pretty tame so are mostly doing sightseeing stuff. DS is terribly afraid of horses, so that is definitely out for us, and I am afraid of heights, so there goes all the zipline fun. We live in Oregon and are white as sheets most of the year, so the thought of going in water without sunscreen to swim with the dolphins and coming out looking like lobsters would not be our idea of fun. I guess we'll stick with tours:rotfl:

Have you found the DIS thread at the bottom of the page of DIS topics with designs? There are some FABULOUS ideas there for t-shirts and magnets. Of course we have Kristen taking care of us, but I do like to try to do my own, and the ideas on that thread are incredible!:lovestruc

Have a great day!

Kerri

Thanks to LV Disney Fan(atic) for informing me about this thread.

We just booked our July 20th cruise. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise...first time to Mexico. We took my parents on the cruise in October 2007 for their 50th anniversary. They loved it so much they wanted to go again this year. Of course I couldn't say no.

Our room number is 2085 and my parents are in room 2071.

My DD is 14 and my DS is 9.

We are not planning to leave the ship...we love it so much. We bring walkie talkies with us so we can always stay in touch. My DD loves the Stack, mostly to make some new friends to hang out with. I already signed my DS for the Oceaners Club. He loves that place.

The Magic is such a wonderful vacation for the entire family.

We are counting the days! Hoping to get our same waiter.

Hey giz89, Robin will enter your info on the first page, she will also need more info just look on page 1:yay: . 4th cruise huh, well you'll be just fine. We got allot of "newbies" with us and thats great! :dance3: Have to go sightseeing at the ports, It's not that bad. My wife and I went on this cruise in 2005 and that was our first cruise ever and into Mexico. The Taxi drivers that take you into the towns are really reasonable (somewhat cheap). My wife (unfortunately) found the jewelery marts in each port. (Don't you start with me Laura!):lmao: It's a running joke with our families. Funny for them, not me.:scared1:
PM me and send me you email and I will send you our group DIS door sign. (If you want one?) or email me at vrntnns@verizon.net By the I'm Vern, know what I mean? If I had a dime for every time that I heard that I could buy the MAGIC and WONDER:thumbsup2 Anyways glad to have ya aboard.:grouphug:

Why Vern - whatever do you mean???? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

It wasn't my luck that won Karen her stones - it was her - she won them - make sure you attend the shopping seminars ladies - they do give away fire opals. Karen won some really pretty ones! :rotfl2: I can't help it if I know where the diamond stores are? :rotfl:

Anyway, just doing a quick :drive: by its late here - so got one more stop to check and then I can finally lay down this old, tired carcass! :lmao:

By the way, it was mentioned on another thread that as of May 10, young teenagers will no longer be allowed in the stack. I think they will be making the 13-14 possibly 15 yr olds their own space. Maybe too many complaints of very young teenagers in the stack. I will confirm once onboard and report back.

It was discussed on another thread I'm on and the consensus seems to be tha the older teens - closer to 17 were not going due to the fact that so many young just turned teenagers were there. Which is a double edge sword. Good for those parents worried about such a large age group mingling and sad for the ones looking forward to finally being able to attend The Stack.

Hope to get more info soon. Later all -

Vern,
I was able to copy the door sign from the posts here. Thank you for putting it together. It looks great.

For those of you that have been on to these ports before, is there some good shopping in Cabo and Mazatlan? I read about the glassblowing factory in Cabo in my passporter. Have any of you been there? Was it worth tracking it down? We are going to do the dolphins in Cabo but, not until the afternoon. I thought about grabbing a cab and checking out the glass factory. Any thoughts? :confused3 We have nothing booked for Mazatlan and I plan to stay on the ship and enjoy a less crowded day but, would like to run off for some quick shopping.

Stacey - Cabo is probably your best bet for shopping - its close to the tender point and within walking distance. I stayed a week in Cabo in 2005 and its fairly easy to get around. Lots of things are spread out but again - the taxi stand is not very far from the pier at all. Most things that you will book you will need to have transportation too anyway, so you can walk through town and check out the deals. There are lots and lots of jewelry stores and a very modern mall not too far from the pier - you can walk there but you will be hassled by the little old ladies holding up the dolls for you to buy. LOL - did I mention that I have a hard time with the older people - kids I have no problem saying no too - its the old people I have to stay away from.

Anyway, Mazatlan is sort spread out and you will more than likely be riding all day. Its a nice port. I actually enjoyed it better myself than Cabo but we are not really BIG drinkers too. Mazatlan has more of a breeze and we ended up hiring a golf cart for about $80 plus tip for the entire day - it was nice and cool even though the day was superhot. THe breeze hitting you felt good. Plus we were able to get in and out of the tourist traps veyr easily and not have to wait on the stragglers. Good luck on what you choose - your going to have a fun time whatever you do.

Hey Vern...I can't send a PM cuz I am too new to the DIS board. Can you fill me in on what is going on with the group?

Laura,
Thanks for the shopping information. We will have the morning free in Cabo so we may check that out.

Thanks,
Stacey

Mazatlan has great shopping...in the Golden zone. Just a shore says away from the pier. On the first page you will find a link to Mazatlan Frank and he can answer any questions about that in Mazatlan. There is a whole thread of posters that are there every day asking him questions.

I like The Golden zone. My kids like it there also. Good restaurants there also. Just take a taxi it's not far.

What kinds of things are good to go shopping for in Mexico?
Well T-shirts are cheep and make good bring home gifts...leather products like purses and wallets, perfume, watches, chochkies(sp) you will need to look and just have fun :thumbsup2

You can by stupid fun stuff also...Oh you can also buy an iguana :rolleyes1 :lmao:
