Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos

Hi everyone...for those of you that are new here WELCOME!!! please go and look back on page 1 and see what info you would like me to add to it. Than PM me so I can add you.

Do do you all have your excursions? :woohoo: sounds like there is a great group here. Wish I was still on this week also. Would have loved to be part of your group :thumbsup2

Not much longer before we sail...I cant wait.:cheer2:

Thanks Vern for the other door design pictures....they were great!!!! My husband and I actually went last weekend and picked up some of those paint sample Mickey Heads....loved the balloon idea you did with them...BrandyC and I have the noncreativeness (is that a word??:rotfl: ) in common. Love looking at all the ideas but get a total block whenever I sit down to create one....

Hi!
Is there a way that one of you who received Vern's e-mail could post his door/t-shirt design?:confused3 I really would like to see, and I am sure there are other (lurkers!):surfweb: who would, too!;)

So, only one other besides myself so far that would be willing to make or buy a fish extender and bring goodies to share. Is this because there are so many experienced cruisers on this sailing who have "been there, done that?" Note: I work for NIKE and I was planning to bring some really cool stuff!:thumbsup2 Oh well, less to pack I guess.

Who is organizing a DISmeet for Saturday afternoon/evening before the cruise? We would be in, but coming from Oregon, really are not in a position to find a location and coordinate it all. I was hoping one of the LA locals would step up and get something going for us.

It's getting closer! Those of us first timers are almost to day 75 where we can FINALLY book our excursions! :yay: MEXICO, here we come!! :woohoo:

Kerri

I also would love to see the door/t-shirt design. I'm not very creative so I asked Kristine on another thread to make some magnet designs for me, but I think I'd like to try a few on my own. We'll see how they turn out!

kveens - I've seen some posts about your fish extender idea and I'd be interested in participating but I don't think I completely understand how it works. Could you please explain exactly what we would do? thanks

I am a first-time cruiser, but from what I can tell by reading the cruise board, to participate in fish extender exchanges, we hang a cloth item http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=fish+extender&category0= with pockets by our stateroom door on the fish that is there to hold notes. I think it is like a giant fish clip. We determine the number who want to participate and their party make-up (adults, kids, etc). We then bring items (little gifts) to put in the pockets of the fellow DIS'ers who are participating. The items would be things our city or state are known for, items to make pirate night more fun, items that would be helpful but might be overlooked, our just cool little items that are fun to have.

The benefits of participating are the exercise of walking up and down the different deck corridors looking for fish extenders to put items into (burns off some of those extra calories) and the surprises you get in your own extender when you return to your room.

This is what will be going on for dining.....

"Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual" -- no shorts, swimwear or tank tops;
jeans are allowed. Most cruises also have special theme nights. Below is
the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject to
change:

On 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises:
*Nights 1, 3, 4, & 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 5: pirate night with deck party
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit

At this time we are still finalizing the evening show schedules and
expect to have them available very soon.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!"

Here is my email: vrntnns@verizon.net send me a quick note so that I can reply with the pictures of "Our" Dis Board Sign and others that I did back on our 2005 cruise. For those that got my email, did the pictures come through very clear? :confused3
Hola Berkman Family, Welcome to our Disney Family:grouphug: I'm Vern the resident former cast member of Disneyland, kinda the person that is making door signs for our group ("Hola Amigos" Mexican "MAGIC"ical Cruise) What a mouth full!:yay: Don't be shy, if there is any questions ya'll have, (not that I can answer all of them):scared1: but anyways I or other past Disney cruisers will help in any way we can!:thumbsup2 You and your family is going to have a blast on this cruise!:dance3:

Subject of fish extenders, not sure about that, I would have to talk w/ my wife.
Hey Robin, thanks again for all the posts of info. You sure you don't want to sail on our week?:confused3 Your gonna miss allot of fun? It seems like a good mix of first timers and "old" pros ( right Laura?):rotfl2: I crack myself up.

I just posted one of the pictures I received from VRNTNNS

Count me in for the FE exchange. That's 3 so far. Anyone else ?

I'm an LA local but I do not have any experience in coordinating group gatherings :sad2: :confused3 I'm good at showing up though.

We have no creativity at all.:sad1:

This Vern's design for those of you that have not seen it yet.

Very cool...I just copied it and brought it over to my cruise and asked who can make one up also. WE have our logo but no door sign and creative like that I'm not. Hope you dont mind...we will not copy it WE do however have a wheel or what ever it is called :rotfl2: .......

Cool BrandyC, I tried that and got ... :badpc: well lets just say it wouldn't work.
Thanks for the encouragement, I've been doing desktop publishing for awhile now. I used to be a High School teacher, I guess thats where I get my creativity from.
I really don't want to be the organizer for the meets but if no one steps up I guess I could try.:confused3 You know what they say, "It takes a village to raise an idiot.":rotfl2: Oh, sorry thats what my dad use to tell me.
I have no problems speaking in front of people. ( Youth Pastor, HS teacher, and working at Disneyland) I use to give a little show in front of the castle just before the fireworks would go off when I worked "GSO" ( thats Disney code for smile while you tell people to "get back" "don't sit there" and "keep moving" during the parades and fireworks shows) GSO= Guest Services Operations. You folks are lucky, I normally charge for this information.:lmao: Now I'm just rambling, I'll quit.

Hey Robin, I call it a wheel too, ships helm also:lmao:. I don't mind, nothing I do is copyrighted, it's just copied. lol Anyways, use it if you want to or I can try something else for ya. oaky-doky:thumbsup2

Welcome Berkman family! I just joined DIS too (but I'm already a little worried at the amount of time I am spending here :) )

Your design is great, Vern! Thanks. I got so excited about trying to make door signs/magnets that I went out and bought magnetic paper and tape today. However, knowing I am artistically challenged, I also went to the home improvement store and picked up so Mickey ear paint samples:rotfl:

kveens - count us in on the fish extenders! Sounds like fun. Up to 4 now.....

Wow, Vern! :cool2: The sign looks great! :thumbsup2 So, we are free to take it off here and print out our own for our doors?

So glad to hear that there are at least four families who want to participate in the fish extender gift exchange. I think it will be really fun!:wizard:

Any of you locals know of a place big enough for all of us, maybe a park, where we can meet up Saturday afternoon/evening before the cruise to say howdy to our fellow DIS'ers? For those of us coming from out of town or out of state, please have mercy on us and think close to San Pedro/Long Beach. I guess there are probably a lot of out of towners who will be over at Anaheim Saturday visiting Walt's park:tink: , so maybe we need to think of a spot in that direction.

Kerri

Vern,

The sign looks great. So do we make our own copies of this to put on our door? Still new to all of this so I am trying to catch on.

Would love to join those in the fish extender exchange. It sounds like it would be fun....we call it "Elfing" or "Booing" when you leave a little gift.

So let me see if I have this correct....All DISers will put a sign on their door, some of us will be doing the fish extenders, possibly a get together the night or day before we get on the ship....did I miss anything?

We have late dinner and do not have our room assignment--GYT. We have two rooms because we are a family of 5 and wanted to save money! This will be our 4th Disney cruise and we are very excited to return...plus the west coast makes it easy for us on this side!
