Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos

On the last cruise we exchanged magnets from our state. I think we discussed it fairly soon before we went and then I couldn't find any. If we would want to do something like that again it would give me plenty of time to find some. I will be in the state capital next month and surely I can find some there!

We did that with Christmas ornaments for our 10 day Christmas cruise...we did it like a white Elephant exchage...are you all familure with what a white elephant exchange is? It was alot of fun...

Robin,

Just noticed that you got room #6064. Great location! The cat-6 rooms near the midship elevator are were all gone within the first few hours of booking.

yes they go fast...I had my room info and everything faxed over to IC(inventory Controll) so before the phones even opened on the 31st they had booked me my back to back in the same room, with first tier pricing(although the pricing did not realy change for this cruise like the Repo)...:thumbsup2 I gave them 3 room choices and all were in the same area..

Do we really have to wait until 2008 for our trip? I could use it right about now!!!

Still checking out the RCL new boats, pretty impressive offerings for kids...Looking forward to hearing more of the reviews.

My hubby and I are set on getting to Alaska in the next few years, one way or another...

HOpe you all had a great weekend!!!

Hi all,
Yes...2008 seems sooooo far away. We are already planning 2009 for 2 weeks in Hawaii and 2010 hoping DCL has new ship to offer...or we will cruise on RC Freedom of the seas.

Freedom is to big for us at the moment and the kids like the DC still and having there Freedom of checking them selves in and out of the kids clubs...won't happen on RCC...ship is to big.

I feel that that ship takes away the feeling of being on a ship...seems like a floating mall to me. However think it will be a nice change for the kids when they are older...and good be compleately wrong and just love it:)

Anyone wlse have any future plans....Alaske is also on our must do list when the kids get a little older...:thumbsup2

For our magnets we just asked how many wanted to participate. When we had the number we bought that many magnets. We got a list of stateroom numbers and just went around putting it on their doors the first day or two of the cruise. It was really fun coming back to see the different magnets on the doors!:hippie:

Are you able to trade your Disney Vacation Club points to Hawaii? What properties...

I think you are right about the Freedom, it is huge!!! Maybe too big...There are other mid size RCL that have the mini golf and lots of kids stuff...We'll have to wait and see:surfweb: :surfweb:

Hi everyone:cool1:

Yes...we can use our points for Hawaii as long as it falls under the Disney umbrella. If the places that we want to stay at are not on there list than we will stay there anyway and pay cash. There are a couple places in Maui and the Big Island that we want to stay at that are the #1 picks from the travel channel that were for familys....

As for the "Freedom" I showed the video to them that the family channel had and they said ...WOW they have lots to do...but it looks like a mall or somewhere in Vegas...I aksed thenm if they would rather go on that ship...they both replyed..NO way..we want to Disney ship...so as they always say ..if it's not brock ,don't fix it..:thumbsup2

As for the magnets..sounds like a fun idea..we can also play a game of tag...that is where we start a magnet paper and is passed from cabin to cabin...you sign it and say something clever and pass it on to another scabin. There is more to it and can explain as we get closer...do remember what you would like to do so we can vote on it later:thumbsup2

At Christmas my Dh said that he felt like he was Jewish and it was Hanukkah. We had a stocking on our cabin and everyday for 10 days we had at least 2 presents in it...it was so great!!!! And the games were soooo much fun. We went on excursions together and ate at Palos and so many things.

Well my Ds wants the comp. WE have 3 comps but my other sone is on that one and my laptop is acting funny...we as a family just love our computers ...but we do have our limited hrs of play...;)

Robin: Do you know the names of the hotels in Hawaii under Disney umbrella? Do you general get better deals using DVC points than using cash? We mostly book our hotels through priceline.

Quimby: what are the RCL new ships in addition to Freedom? We cruised with RCL twice. While we enjoyed RCL, we didn't think they're as kid-friendly as DCL. However that was long time ago, things are probably quite different now.

I think it is called the Liberty due out in May by RCL. Supposed to be similar to the Freedom. The more I read about the Freedom, the better it sounds but maybe a little too big...And like Robin said, it looks and sounds like a big shopping mall, which is not for us...I do like the wave/surf area, rock climbing wall, H20 fun zone.:cheer2:

I have actually been getting a little cold feet about our 2008 DCL trip...Just seems so expensive. We could fly to Hawaii and stay at a great resort for cheaper...We are new to cruising, we are used to hanging on the beach all day and snorkeling...That is a vacation for us...I have done so much research and planning I think we just have to go to experience it and decide if cruising is for usprincess:

Thanks for the RCL info. I just looked at the Freedom website. It's very interesting, more kid-friendly than I thought. Hope they also have kid clubs there.

I agree doing Hawaii is actually a lot less expensive than doing DCL, especially from California. For that reason, we decided to go to Hawaii last summer and move our Disney Magic reservation to a later date. On the other hand, I also see the extra cost of a Disney Cruise is not unreasonable: it includes the free meals, the shows, the cruise experience, Disney magic, etc.

Quimby are you still cruising on RC in 2007? The DCL is a great cruise and a great kids program. My kids love it. WE do the beaches on all the cruises. We love the beaches also.

AS for the Hawaii hotels under the Disney umbrella I will have to look. I can let you know that in the next few days. Are you a DVC member?

Till tomorrow, you all have a blessed day:thumbsup2

I'm cruising on RCL in March 07, next month..I am excited because it will be my 1st and it is with my girl friends, no kids:)...

We watched the DCL DVD tonight to I am feeling less cold feet...There are just so many unknowns for me about a cruise...I will have a better feel after next months trip, even though it is only a little Baja boose cruise:)
Are you a DVC member?
No, we're not. We vacation at least twice each year; Disney and Hawaii are our two most-frequently visited places. I'm just wondering if we may be better off joining DVC or some other timeshare program ...

I had to get my Dh to go on a cruise years ago...he said no way that it sounded boring just walking around a ship....well 16 cruises later and 7 Disney cruises he cant wait to go again...and we just got off in December!!!

DCL is by far our favorite cruise line...I find there to be a big difference from DCL to the others we have been on...Dh agrees....that is why we keep coming back to them....

If by chance you don't have a good time on the other ship...still do DCL because it is a different kind of feel:thumbsup2

Hola nuevos amigos y algunos viejos - Hello new friends and some old ones(don't get excited, I used a translator for some of it:thumbsup2) Hi PumpkinBaby - looks like we are together again! We (DH and I) are traveling this week with DD who will be 17 and DS who will be 7, turning 8 on the ship - He is sooo excited to celebrate his birthday on the Magic. He has talked about our trip everyday since we have been back. Looking forward to meeting everyone and having a super fantastic time. We will be in room 2504 for this trip.

Welcome Knoxville!! My DH and I will have our 6 yr. old and 8 yr old sons too so I'm sure they'll make friends with your 7-8 yr old!!:cheer2: What DCL trips have you been on?

Be sure to check out the Travel Channel over the next few weeks. They are airing a few cool Cruise shows, one features Disney too!! I already set my TIVO.

Thanks for the welcome Quimby - We were on the Magic December 2 - 9, 2006. We had such a magical time, we just had to come back! Looking forward to the Mexican Riviera, but of course anytime on the Magic is a good time:cool1:

I will look for the cruise shows. We so love watching them.

It will be nice for DS to make some friends before we go this time. DD had an e-mail buddy and then became fast friends. So much so that everybody thought they were sisters.
