Mexican Riviera July 20, 08...Hola Amigos

Konnichiwa is a Japanese phrase that means "good afternoon" or so that is what I found when I googled it!!! I was curious what it meant so I turned to my trusty friend "google".

O yeah.....know that you said that I can see it ....and have heard that before..:rotfl: maybe I need to go eat another Hot dog...or drink another Martini ::yes:: :lmao:

I think the Martini is the way to go...skip the hotdog! Needs to be sour apple though!!! I think I'll have one too!!! :drinking1

That will do just fine.

Kerri,
It looks like you missed us. We are in stateroom 7563. It is Mom, DS 8 and Grandma. Thanks for pulling the list together.:thumbsup2

Welcome all the new comers! It has been awhile since I have had a chance to post and I had a lot of catching up to do. It looks like there are a lot more joining us and planning on being in the FE group. I am so excited.

Kerri--We have two rooms and are on GYT so I still do not know our stateroom number....I am not sure when they will give it to us. As soon as I find out I will post. Our group is DS 14+(turns 15 just after cruise) DS 7, and DD 19 months at cruise time. My husband is booked in one room with our older son while I am booked in another with the other two.

This may sound funny but what do we do if someone gets upgraded? How do we find you on the ship? Maybe the first day at the sail away party we should all meet and blow bubbles together?:dance3:

We are very excited to be leaving soon. Just need to get the kids through finals and the last few weeks of school! We have not booked any excursions yet. My husband just had a friend get back from the Repo cruise and LOVED the Baja trip. He will probably do that. I normally let each kid pick one thing they really want to do and we do that. So it will be interesting to see what we end up with. We may leave DD on the boat so we can do something a little more adventerouse but I am so nervouse about that. I love the staff at Flounders but normally I am on the boat. Anyone ever do this? My husband has offered to stay behind with her if the boys and I wanted to do something...his way of saying "I don't want to go." I am just happy to go and stay on the BOAT!

For pirate night we will probably just wear jeans rolled up, tee shirt, and eye patches. Do they still give bandana's? I know there are many who go all out but I don't want to pack more clothes...just more to wash.

Glad to hear from all of you.

:wave2: EVERYONE!

Just got back and boy are my arms tired! :rotfl:

Seriously, took off yesterday as I was recooperating. Lots to talk about but if any of you get a chance - read my blog - especially regarding the Sierra Madre Hike and the Ancient Petroglyphs - that one was in Acapulco so it won't affect any of us but the one in Puerta Vallerta - boy was that tough. WARNING: do not do this with little kids - DO NOT DO IT! Darn it - my computer is acting up. I'm being kcicked off.

Hello...it took me about a week to read these posts from the beginning....but I finally made it through and feel like I can introduce myself and ask questions that haven't been asked before.

I'm 38 and traveling with my DH (44), and DS (3). We'll be in room 7124.
Welcome kathinca!:cheer2: :wave2:

We live in Santa Clarita too. This will be our 4th cruise, but first one leaving out of San Pedro.

You will have a blast. Late dinner isn't so bad...leaves more time to spend during the day having fun before having to get ready for dinner. Also allows for a nap... :thumbsup2

No matter what, the cruise is awesome and great place for families with kids of any age!

Welcome back! I really enjoyed reading your blog while you were on the ship; made me even more excited for our cruise :woohoo: (hard to believe since I'm already driving my family nuts talking about and planning for the trip :cool1: ). You had to work way too hard for your fun though - definitely no hiking excursions for us! And I really got a laugh out of your last minute sprint to the jewelry store in Cabo. That was a great tip about not depending on your cell phone for the correct local time!

Welcome back! I enjoyed reading your blog and I had all these visuals of your adventures. Good Times, Good Times. In regards to the hike, Whew.. I know how that feels like. I've hiked in the Costa Rican jungle/rainforest and have seen some amazing sights but every inch of the way I would ask God to give me more strength as I would feel like my legs were going to give out on me :faint: . About not touching/holding on to anything, I was once told not to touch or hang on to anything because that branch just might be a SNAKE :scared1: I'm glad that I have pictures for memories as I will never hike again. (Oops, never say never :bitelip: )

I agree that we definitely need to figure out a time/place to meet on the first day :)

That would be great. This is my first DCL trip so I have to go with the flow since I have no idea how this all works. I need the guidance.

My face has been buried in the DCL Passporter. I kinda feel like a Pro at this but I know I will be in such Awe that I may forget everything that I've been researching. (Perfect example: WDW) I'm just so exited about this cruise. I really lost it on Sunday when I went out to San Pedro to see the Magic. My DD16 was like "Mom, PAH-lease" and I was like " I don't care, you see everyone else that is here ? They are crazy just like me. :rotfl:

Hi Brandy,

You are correct; You are not the only one that has a Disney Addiction. I started thinking that something was wrong with the better half.:rolleyes1 I even started researching and trying to find a Psychiatrist to help her. :rotfl2: Then I figured out it would be just as cheap to take her to Disney every-so-often. That way she can get her fix. I am just thankful that she found the disboards to help her in between the visits.:disrocks:

Hi Liz.....another person from Santa Clarita!! Hearing that made me miss "home". We will be visiting there the weekend prior to the cruise..just to see our house and some friends in the area. It always feels so strange to stay in a hotel in LA when we are there since our house is rented out right now.

Yes, we'll make the best out of late dining if we must. There are some upsides.....no running to dinner early. I just think my 3 year old son would do much better if he could eat earlier. We'll see what happens and have fun no matter what.

Kathy

giz89 and kathyinca,

Hi! Count us in as another family from the SCV! Nice to know there are some neighbors on the cruise!

Thank you all - it was rather fun relating some of our adventures. Of course, seeing as my older two were reading it - I had to edit some parts out. For the most part it was all exciting.

I do want to caution those considering the hike - it is understated when it says moderate. If your in shape then it will be a piece of cake for you. As for the weather - keep in mind that the guide told us that mosquito weather starts in June so we did not have that problem. For those that decide to do it anyway, there is a restaurant where you will have a snack - guacamole and chips and one drink if you want more - you got to pay for the rest. Keep in mind that the peso is basically 10 to 1 so if its 20 pesos - its 2 dollars. $200 is $20 US dollars. They prefer US money and is almost universally accepted - even in the post office. I know because I used some there.

Booze is just as expensive as in the States if not more but who goes to Cabo to drink right? :rotfl2:

Well, this is just a quick check in and I will be back later on this evening to see if anyone has posted. Take care.

First of all Vern....is your son still in Japan? I found it interesting that there was another Japan connection here. I know that you wrote about at the beginning of this thread....a long time ago!! We live in Tokyo and are not in the military....but love to hear about others experiences living here.
Welcome Kathyinca and your family, I have both of my sons in the USMC. The one that was in Japan is back here at Camp Pendleton, CA. The youngest son is on the USS Tarawa coming back from Kuwait. He should be here Jun 2-4 sometime:confused3

OK, just trying to catch up on everything. Just a few more weeks left for OUR "MAGIC"AL MEXICAN CRUISE!!

If there is not any objections out there, Laura (eeyorelvr10) and I (Vern)(vrntnns)are going to get us organized for the cruise meets and the fish extenders for our cruise. If there is anybody out there that wants to take this, please speak up. I figured that with Laura's experience on DCL and my outgoing personality (cause Laura can be shy at times):lmao: , we will try to get everything together. I talked with Laura today at noon about this, and she's on board for the planning. Now, what we need from ya'll is when do you want to meet? Here are some ideas:
1. Meet right after the "Sail Away" party? (at the front of ship on deck 10)
2. Meet before the "Sail Away" party or
3. Meet the day after we set sail? (it will be a Sea Day)??? time of day

Just a side note, pumkinbaby are you really staying in the Walt Suite?
If so, we would really like to have a meet there? 1 Time:worship: Please?!?

Oh righty, Fish Extenders- thank you Kveens for the list I'm not sure if that's all of the folks that want to participate? Here are some suggestions on how to do this.: (A Great Way to Walk off those pounds you will GAIN)
1. Each morning or night everyone goes around the ship and drops off a "small" gift for each person in the staterooms. or
2. Every other day go around and do the same. or
3. ??? you fill in the idea.
Please keep in mind that there will be 3 straight day of ports (22,23,Th)
and you will be busy during those times. I know some will stay on the ship.

Is this making any sense?:confused3 Please remember if you don't have our Door Sign yet email me at: vrntnns@verizon.net Vern Tennis
