Mexican Riviera Cruise with WONDERful Souvenir in the Works! 6/7 PTR Link!

I really wanted to see “The Golden Mickey’s” tonight so we headed towards the Walt Disney Theater after we were done freshening up. Okay. So I’m not sure if this is a spoiler or not, but I never read about it. If you don’t want to read just skip to the next paragraph. On our way to the Walt Disney Theater, we walked down the middle in between the shops to get to the theater. There’s a red carpet laid out that we were walking on, minding our own business talking to each other, when all of a sudden 5 CM’s come out from no where with cameras flashing in our faces asking “What I was wearing!?” and saying how gorgeous we looked. I was so confused and startled so I stopped walking. I eventually put it all together and realized, red carpet + golden mickeys + paparazzi = DUH! It was really such a cute idea! I’m sure little girls and boys would love that type of attention on them.

The show was SO good! It had mini skits from Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, 101 Dalmations, The Lion King, Toy Story, and Tarzan. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few more, but it was great!

After the show we headed back to our stateroom to put on nicer clothes since it was Formal Night. We also grabbed some more wine glasses before heading back to the room from the Promenade Lounge. Here’s what we came home to

Since we got dressed rather quickly, we headed down to Deck 3 to try and take some professional pictures but could only get in one of the line because it was so extremely busy. We would go after dinner to take more pictures. So off we went to dinner at Parrot Cay.

IMG_3616.jpg

I’m not sure what happened to all the pictures but some are missing. I’m pretty sure Dh ordered this:

Crispy Cheese Ravioli – breaded envelopes served with Tomato Concasse and Lemon Zest

IMG_3617.jpg

Looking at the menu, I’m not sure what I got! And I don’t know where the picture is…

For entrees, I ordered:

The Yachtsman Steakhouse Grilled NY Strip – served with marinated Green Asparagus, Oven-bakes Potato and topped with Herb-Garlic Butter. Ordered Medium of course

IMG_3618.jpg

This was cooked to perfection! Super good.

DH’s entrée:

Oven-roasted Duckling – with onion, apple, and marjoram stuffing, snow peas, glazed carrots, and a dark Cherry Glaze.

IMG_3619.jpg

This was excellent! The glaze was yummy!

IMG_3620.jpg

I don’t know where DH’s dessert picture is, but I know he ordered Triple Strawberry Sundae because it was muy excellente!

I ordered the Golden Mickey’s Sweet Temptations – a trio of crème brulee, the golden chocolate reward and raspberry cheesecake

IMG_3621.jpg

I ate every single piece of this dessert. I wish the crème brulee was bigger though.

After dinner, we got in line to take more pictures. There was hardly anyone in the lobby, so we didn’t wait long for any of the lines. We ended up buying this picture because DH hated all the other ones.

WonderPic2011-1.jpg

We headed back to the room to make some drinks to take with us to Wavebands that evening.

IMG_3623.jpg

This band is
so fun to watch and listen to. If you ever have Speakerbox on your sailing, please take some time to go listen to them. Especially the keyboardist :cloud9:

Adam Trent was performing tonight (we missed him the first night) and we were so happy we were able to see him perform. Not only is he great at what he does (a comedian-magician) he’s easy on the eyes. Man, there is so many good-looking people on this cruise! I ended up meeting him afterwards and he’s so dreamy. We left Wavebands around 11:45 and headed back to the stateroom for some sleep. We would have another fun-filled, jam packed day!

I'm loving all the details and beautiful pictures! You really get your moneys worth at that tasting, how nice!

Very cute picture of you and DH. We need a close up of this keyboardist! :rotfl:

Was everyone dressed up for formal night? I'm wondering how many people get involved.

I tried to get a picture of him without making it look so obvious but every time I would try to zoom in, he would look over in my direction

There was A LOT of people dressed up for formal night. Lots of suits and ties and fancy dresses. It was really nice to see folks dressed up. I was thinking that there may not be a lot of people doing it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Man I am getting more excited for our MR cruise! :)

I loved your experience with the Golden Mickeys/paparazzi! We didn't know about it either... on our recent Dream cruise, we wer standing around outside the theater waitng on my DW to finish "window shopping", my teen DD came up and said, "that lady wants to talk to us". Got the family and walked over, then the woman led us to center stage and there was a camera and lights. We had fun just answering questions and being silly, not realizing the whole thing was being broadcast inside the theater (maybe I shouldn't have acted so goofy). It was wild how many people over next couple days would say, "Hey we saw you at the Golden Mickeys". Definitely made great memory for my girls :)

Looked like a really fun day Lesha! :goodvibes

I'm now pencilling in a Palo brunch & wine/drink tasting on our June 2013 cruise, think it would be great on a sea day :cloud9:

Lol the same thing happened to us outside the Golden Mickeys on the Dream! :cutie: took me a little while to work out what was going on too hehe.

Happy new year!

I thought those interviews were so cute! It's such a great idea, on Disney's part, to have guests be a part of the 'magic'. :cloud9:

Emma, you MUST do Brunch! You will love it! So DH and I are thinking about a Caribbean cruise June 2013 also. Maybe we'll be on the same sailing! Would be a fun meet!

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 - Day at Sea

I had a wake up call set for 7am. No gym today. I got up and took a shower and watched Mulan as I got ready for the day.

DSC00115.jpg

Still a little dark outside.

DSC00118.jpg

Today we had our character breakfast at 10am over at Parrot Cay and I was hungry and ready! While making our plans for the cruise, we both decided to get some type of spa treatment done. As I was looking through previous Navigators, I noticed that the Spa would put out specials that were only to be done that day. There ws a treatment we were both interested in doing, so we decided to wait and see when/if that special would ever be offered. And on today’s Navigator, it showed up! AND it was $10 cheaper per person than the previous cruise offering! I wanted us to do it as a couple so I called the spa and the only time the could take us as a couple was at 5:45. We would miss that evenings show, but turns out, Adam Trent was performing that night (he performed a little bit on the first night, but was doing a full show tonight) so it worked out perfectly!

I was getting hungry at 9:30 so we went down to see if they would take people earlier.

But some more pictures first

The elevators in the lobby

DSC00120.jpg

Then we headed over to an empty Parrot Cay.

DSC00121.jpg

DSC00122.jpg

Um, did I get the time wrong? Or the date wrong? I thought character breakfasts started at 9am. Turns out they don’t open till 10 am. So off we went to explore a little more.

DSC00123.jpg

DH loves the Goofy “How To…” cartoons, so he was thrilled to see a sketch of this!

We went up to Deck 11 to see how the weather was feeling.

DSC00124.jpg

DSC00125.jpg

Wasn’t as cold as yesterday, but still a little dark. Hopefully the sun will come out later for some pool time.

We then went to check out the Outlook Café.

DSC00126.jpg

DSC00127.jpg

DSC00128.jpg

I decided to order a Latte since we were up here waiting for breakfast anyway and DH ordered a Vanilla Latte. They have lots of specialty coffees and teas here.

DSC00130.jpg

DSC00131.jpg

I ended up buying the cutest mug (wonder if it’s the refillable mugs that they would have at WDW if we were there) and had my coffee in there to go.

The latte was excellent! We were also handed a card where if we purchase five specialty drinks, we get the sixth for free. That obviously meant we had to come back.

It was now after 10am so we headed back down to Parrot Cay for our character breakfast!

We were seated at an 8 top all to ourselves. It was actually really nice. Then we were handed our menus.

DSC00132.jpg

DSC00133.jpg

We both ordered the Denver omelet with different juices.

And right away the character greetings began!

DSC00134.jpg

Then came our breakfast

DSC00136.jpg

With lots of bacon.

Here’s a picture of the mug that I purchased at the Outlook café.

DSC00137.jpg

DSC00138.jpg

I got asked twice where I purchased that mug. I didn’t see it sold anywhere else in the shops or other bars so if you’re wanting a mug like this, go to the Outlook Café.

Then our waiters came back with hats to wear for the rest of our photo ops.

DSC00139.jpg

DSC00141.jpg

And more characters!

DSC00144.jpg

So one of the character handlers (not sure for which character it was) looked very familiar to us and we noticed this at the Golden Mickey’s. Her voice is incredible! When she came around, DH asked her if she was on the Dream in June. She said she left the Dream June 26 for her last sailing. We sailed the 21-26 and told her we actually talked to her while she was in the Quiet Pool with her friend. And she was so thrilled someone actually remembered her! She gave us both a hug and said it was great to see us again, especially so soon. It was fun!

We still had Pluto and Minnie to visit with, but I didn’t want to wait around. So we left and I wanted to go outside and see how the weather was feeling.

The tequila tasting sounds awesome! I really want to do one but if the one on the Dream is they way you described, I'm not sure I will... Definitely sounds like it's worth the $$ though!

P.S. I have that Mickey t-shirt you wore to the character breakfast! Great minds :cool1:

Too funny the keyboardist kept catching you!

Parrot Cay looks so cute, so many people say that's their least favorite restaurant.

Sorry I didn't update right away.

I'm in charge of booking our usual family vacation to Disneyland in November, and it's just been a total NIGHTMARE.

Anyways, so the reservation transfer from DCL to Dreams Unlimited processed on Monday, the 13th (when I was able to book dining and such) however I needed to pay the vacation in full before I was able to book. DH had the Disney Visa that I wanted to use and the credit processing center closes at 8pm ET. DH didn't get home until 6, so I just submitted the payment, and early the next morning (yesterday), I got an email from DU saying the payment went through and I can start booking excursions!

Here's are schedule....as of now :lmao:;)

Day 1: Port of Los Angeles
Day 2: At Sea - Palo Brunch @ 11:00am
Day 3: At Sea
Day 4: Puerto Vallarta - Outdoor Adventure (mule ride, zip-lining, rappeling) @ 9:00am
Day 5: Cabo San Lucas - Palo Dinner @ 6:00pm
Day 6: Cabo San Lucas - Cabo Beach Resort Getaway @ 8:45am
Day 7: At Sea
Day 8: Port of Los Angeles

I was very surprised to see how many options I was given for both Palo Brunch and Dinner.

We haven't booked a Spa package yet, cus we just don't know what we want. However, i've been reading about the Rainforest Room, and you have to purchase it when you board, and i'm thinking that's something we would enjoy. So i'll probably end up getting this.

This is probably old news, but Princess Cruise Line pulled out of going to Puerto Vallarta on their MR cruises, stating that it was too dangerous. We're a little concerned that IF this is true, why hasn't Disney pulled out as well? And now DH is nervous about doing the excursion that we chose, considering that we have to drive far away from our Port.

I know Mexico is dangerous right now, but what do you guys think? If you had a cruise booked to the MR and heard that another cruise line pulled out of one of the Ports, but DCL didn't, would you still feel safe doing an excursion with your family there?

Hello, We are going Mexican Reviera on Disney this month and this is our 1st time Disney cruise. Could you please give us update info about side tours in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta? We haven't book any tours yet but want to know which one is good one.

Thanks.

You guys got such cute hats! I've been reading a few other TRs, and I've seen some pretty whacky hats. I especially like Daniel's, he looks like Peter Pan! :lmao:

The tastings sound like they were a lot of fun. We only did the martini tasting, on an empty stomach as well, and had so much fun. I love how they have the character breakfast on your cruise. They didn't have this when I went on the Wonder any of the times I went. I would have loved to do this. It is possible I didn't know about it though. :confused3

Okay. So we hadn’t eaten since 11am, had lots to drink and were going to drink again on an empty stomach. We still had 10 minutes before our tasting officially begun, so I asked DH to grab us something substantial from one of the Quick Service restaurants. What does he bring back? A few pieces of honeydew and watermelon. :lmao::eek: All this is going to do is put more sugar into our body. Yes natural sugar, but still! I don’t say anything because I’m still grateful that he went and got us something. We ended up sharing some too, so it worked out.

We were given three shots of Patron: Silver, Reposado, and Coffee Liqueur. We were also given two different margaritas: a passion fruit and I can’t remember the other one. Maybe just a plain margarita?

OMG, I think even with food in my belly I wouldn't be able to walk after having 3 shots of taquilla and 2 mararitas. That being said, I am so doing this tasting when I'm on board in less than 2 weeks!!!!!

You are such a beautiful couple, but the Giants gear ruins it. Can I buy him a Sharks sweater, or if he doesnt watch hockey, a Cubs shirt?

Kidding....kinda :rolleyes1

Thank you for the wonderful reports, I feel like I am there with you! :surfweb:

I am loving your trip report.

Do you remember if you ever had to adjust your clocks on the cruise? I'm trying to figure out the difference between ship time and local time for our stop in Puerto Vallarta next month.

Please let me know if you remember.

Thanks!

Wonderful updates :goodvibes

A quick question for you, how do you sign up for the tasting events?

I'd really like to try one (or two :rolleyes1) on our May cruise, do you just find out about them on the Navigator and sign up the night before somewhere?

Also, I love the picture of you and DH on formal night, you make a very cute couple

I was on the MR cruise when Daylight savings time came around you set the clock back an hour. I don't remember if it really affected us, but when we were in PV they kept reminding us to stay on ship time, which was one hour ahead of local time. Ss before they let us off the bus they would say make sure you are back by X:XX ship time, right now it is X:XX ship time etc. It may just have been because DST wasn't in effect when we left port?

Your formal nite photo is terrific. You picked a winner:goodvibes Thanks for posting the Navigators..we're doing an 8night out of NYC in June and I have to think that many of the activities will be similar.
