Mexican Riviera Cruise April 3, 2011

I think we're in too.

Me - 53
Mrs -50 ( ouch!)
DD -16

We were originally on the scuttled Magic 12/29 10-day - instead, to paraphrase;

"headed South of the border, down Mexico Way".

I think I've cruised with you before...did you do a june med or may pc in 08? ANyways..welcome aboard!

We tried to do a Med - we may have been on the thread - but we had to cancel due to business issues.

We moved that reservation to the 10 night - it got canceled, so we moved it to this sailing.

Hopefully the 3rd time's the charm!

DH, adult DD (22) and I are on this cruise. DH and mt second cruise. 1st was transatlantic on the Magic. early college grad celebration for DD. Really excited and can't wait!:dance3: 2 days at Disneyland before the cruise. Anyone else doing DL first?

Yep, we're doing DL before the cruise too. If hubby & I can take off the Friday before, we're planning drive down Thursday night or very early Friday morning and have Friday & Saturday at the park before the cruise. DH hasn't been to DL in over 10 years - a crime, I say, considering we live in California!

We plan on going to DL as well. We live right next to DL but my kids dont know that we are going on the DCL so I am going to tell them that we are staying at the Hotel for spring break. I couldnt figure out any other way to pack without them asking a million quesitons!!!

We're thinking the same thing - pop down for a couple of days before the cruise, not sure if we'll drive down or not - have to see what they are doing for parking....

We are doing 3 days after the cruise. We are flying in from Texas before the cruise. I'm a little concerned about the flight. I cannot decide if it will be safe enough to try to fly in Sunday morning or to not trust the airline and fly in Saturday night. I just really didnt want the extra expense of a night in a hotel plus trying to find a way to the port. Does anybody have any opinions on this issue?

I tried it once - never again.

Of course our plane broke down as soon as we left the gate, the braking system locked up.

Luckily enough there was a spare plane available - but by the time we got off of that one and onto the spare, we were 3 hours behind schedule.

All of the connections got missed - we were lucky enough to get another flight into Orlando - made the ship with with about an hour to spare. Not recommended.

I'm not sure if trip insurance will cover you if you try to do a direct flight in the day of the departure or not. Anyone?

I suggest the night before. We did the same thing and almost missed our cruise.

I haven't been to DL for 30 years and DH and DD haven't been for 12 years. We are coming from NC. Using Hilton points for hotel. Any recommendations between Hilton Annaheim, Hilton Garden, Homewood Suites or Doubletree?

Sorry can't help there, we usually stay on property.

Maybe the reviews for these hotels on some of the travel sites could help you decide?

I read on another thread a while back that the Doubletree was quite nice, offers a free shuttle to the port, AND has a special deal where you can stay at the hotel for a night or two and then leave your car parked there while you go on the cruise.

Are there any teenagers in this group?

My 16 year old and a friend of hers that may be going may want to get to know some of the others before the cruise.

I've seen other groups set up a kids / teens only thread .. any body interested or know how?

I am so excited!! I went online today, and lo and behold, found a room available!! This cruise has been sold out, so imagine my surprise! It's more money than we want to spend, but I'm justifying it by the fact that we don't have to fly. We are hubby, me, and sons (11, and 5).

I'm game for trying the FE thing. Not only is this our first Disney cruise, but our first cruise ever!

WELCOME OC Stacylace! :cheer2:You and your family are going to have so much fun on the cruise!!! The FE exchange is so much fun! My DS is 10 and my DD is 7. They had a blast delivering the FE gift. :yay:

Has anyone made any decisions on excursions? Unfortunately my DD is not old enough for some of the excursions that the family would like to do:sad1:
