Mexican Riviera Cruise April 3, 2011

Sorry Gang, but the Kids sail free was to big of a savings not to go for it and change my reservation to January.
Have a great time!
Bummer, but I totally get it!

We will be going. Me, my friend, and her daughter (13). First 7 day Disney cruise but about my 5th time doing the Riviera.
Welcome aboard! My daughter will be almost 13. Glad to know there will others around her age.

Hi all!!
We are booked and packed! (J/k):rotfl2:. My DH, DS(10) and DD(8) along with me, (the DW) are all going. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise and so excited. We live right next to Disneyland so this is really cool that we don't have to fly! So I believe I read that some of you would like to do FE's? That would be GREAT. That was the highlight of our cruise for our kids. The cruise is just about sold out per the DVC cast member that I spoke to today.

Sold out..really? that explains why there is no kids free on this cruise. I'd better tell the rest of my friends to get on it! But welcome aboard! I really can't wait for this cruise. I so need a vacation! I wish the magic was here this summer, i'd be jumping on the ship now.

Welcome aboard. I hope that disney puts our cruise on the kids sail free special! It stinks that it ends the cruise before ours. I'm still ready for it.

I haven't done a 7 night before, but I assume it's one formal dinner and pirate night. Anyone else done a 7 night before??

I have done the 7 night before. We did the Western Carribean in 2009. We had 1 formal night 1 semi formal and pirate night. "But" everyone dressed to there liking. From jeans to ball gowns.

So my other friends just booked and there are no inside rooms left. I think the cat 10's are gone too. Looks like we have a full ship!

Does everyone have assigned rooms or GTY? I am set for a Cat9c with GTY. I am hoping for an upgrade!

It looks pretty full on the website. I am trying to get my aunt to go and their family of 4 can only book a verandah at this time. Maybe things will open up at time of payment?

I know you, taysmom. :) I'm ryansmom. LOL

I am so, so, so excited for our first cruise! Been lurking in the boards here today, especially in the food porn thread. :woohoo:

There's lots of good food porn! Such a dork. Glad you found your way to the board. At least one of the 5 cabins I know going are in the group. I'll have to show you all my previous disney cruise stuff I have at the house. :)

Just booked our first Disney Cruise, we are totally excited... DH, DS (10, he turns 11 onboard) and myself.

I've read a little bit about FE's and sounds right up my alley, any excuse to shop... but can someone please explain in more detail?

And what does the term Fish Extender actually mean???

Thanks for taking the time, me 'earties!

Cheers! Becky

There is a Fish outside of each room. That is where your mail will be left on the trip. You hand your gift holder on that fish. Thats why its called a Fish Extender.

The last time we did the FE it was on a 3 day trip. Each day I would go around and leave a small gift for each person in each room. Its usually something that represents your family, something from your state, or somethign from your state of mind!! We usually leave Pirate items because we play pirates at our local Ren festival.

WELCOME!!!

On our 7 day we did the exchange for only 3 days because we had a large croud. We loved doing the Fe's. The kids wanted to deliver something everyday!! Decorating the doors is really cool also.

Hi tiggerluvr and welcome!
Food porn is right up my alley.:worship: Our head waiter caught on really fast with me taking pictures of all the food. By the end of our 7 day cruise I have one of everything being brought to our table for pictures:banana:. I will try to post some on here for everyone to see.

My Rugrat (11 yr old son) made a friend when he was flying back home from Tucson last month. They exchanged cell phone numbers and today he texted her for the first time. Guess what? She's going on the same cruise! I told Rugrat that she was his "density". :rotfl:

I mean, srsly, what are the chances???

I'm in.... I think, how many people are we talking about??? Do we have an estimate so far? I have 1 kid.

Thanks for the welcome and the explainations. I can't wait!

When I booked our cruise on the 5th of the month, there were no inside staterooms available. I was poking around on the AAA website, wondering if they had some free information or perks (I'm a member) and saw that there were inside staterooms available! Sure enough, I went over to the Disney cruise site and was able to change our reservation from a Cat9 to a Cat11, saving us $400. It's not like we're planning to spend a lot of time in the room anyway. Plus the layout will work better for us - Rugrat won't be traipsing past our bed in the middle of the night when he leaves the Edge club. :thumbsup2

What is the story with the "GTY" rooms, though? I couldn't select a room (it said there weren't any available) but that our cruise date/itinerary/price is all locked in. Is this something I should be worried about?

No you need not worry. Some people book a GTY room on purpose hoping to get an upgrade at no cost to you. Basically Disney is garenteeing you a room of that catagory or "BETTER". I have seen many people get an upgrade prior to the cruise. :yay:I also have a GTY (not by choice). so let's wish for UPGRADES:wizard:

Good question but I am not sure how many of us are in for the FE. I think we only have approx 5 families on this dicussion board. This most likely will increase as we get closer to the cruise. You can count me in Mouseketeer mom. Let me know if anyone want to head the FE's. It's real easy and I can give you some pointers:thumbsup2

Sweet, thanks for the info on the GTY rooms! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed - even one category up would give us a larger room, two categories up would give us the oceanview we originally booked.

Also, count me in for the FE thing. pirate:

You're welcome!!

I think we're in too.

Me - 53
Mrs -50 ( ouch!)
DD -16

We were originally on the scuttled Magic 12/29 10-day - instead, to paraphrase;

"headed South of the border, down Mexico Way".
