We have a car with us...anyone know of good Mexican restaurants near dlr?

I would love to know the answer to this question, too. We love Mexican food!

We go to this great little taco place every time we go. Fresca Tacos? Something like that. Across from angel Stadium, next to a Carls Jr. and Panda Express. It is SOOO good!!! We went back so may times that the staff remembered us!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We like the Mexican rest. in DL. (Feel like an idiot cause I can't remember the name of it) It's right next to the Big Thunder Mt. RR. It is very good!

We love Rancho. There is also a Tortilla Joe's in DTD.

We've always liked El Torito ! They had a great Sunday brunch but I'm not sure if they still have it. It's located at 2020 East Ball Rd.

That sounds like my kind of place. Is it a little family owned "joint" that has 50 types of tacos & home made green salsa, white goat cheese & stuff. I love those kind of places (puerco tacos, barbacoa etc.)

Of course i eat lunch at least once a week at the Taco Truck that parks where the roofers & landscapers can grab a quick bite. I swear i was born 1000 miles too far north. :cool2:

There are some incredible Mexican food restaurants within a very short distance though I recommend visiting them on days you have to explore the area outside of Disneyland. If you're looking for a place to go at the end of the day or for lunch it's not always the best option.

You should always consult the staff at your hotel. They will not take offense at you asking them. Most of them will recommend Los Cabos in Orange. It is one of my favorite places to eat.

Mariscos Los Cabos
843 N Tustin St
Orange, CA 92867
(714) 744-2897

Take Katella East towards Anaheim Stadium. This is a bit of a drive and will take roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Once you reach Tustin you will turn right. Los Cabos is going to be on the left hand side of the street just after a Stater Bros. grocery store.

If you or your husband has a big appetite they have a gigantic burrito that you can challenge. The entire menu is great.

This is authentic Mexican food. If a little spice is a problem and you don't like too much flavor I would recommend skipping this place in favor of El Torito or Taco Bell. Those places are a little more bland/safe.

Check out yelp.com. You can request an area (anaheim) and what kind of food you want. A lot of locals yelp restaurants, so you can get a pretty good idea of the food that is available near where you are staying. My husband is a big "yelper" and always checks them out before we go somewhere. We have eaten in some really great places because of this site. The other nice thing about the site is that you can check the prices and menu before you even leave home. :thumbsup2 We always have a way longer list of restaurants to try than we will actually eat at. That way we can choose what we happen to be in the mood for. :cheer2:

Los Cabos is one of our favorites though it is a little bit of a drive from DLR. Their fish tacos are excellent, as is their carnitas. They have great seafood. La Casa Garcia mentioned above is another popular Mexican restaurant for locals. It is much closer to DLR. Los Cabos and La Casa Garcia are your "authentic" Mexican restaurants. Fresca's is the place across from Angel Stadium. It is also good, but it's a different kind of Mexican. To me it's more of a "fresh" mex, fast food type restaurant.

mmmm....Carnitas.

Yeah, we have those "fresh mex" places here in Austin. Good, but kinda gringoish. They're normally next to a Starbucks.

Sounds like the recommended "authentic" places are great.

hmmmm me too! LOL Best tacos ever were had last Sept when we went to Baja....there was a place in Rosarita called Yaqui's Tacos and Oh.My.Gosh. they were soooooooooo good!! We are already planning our return trip. LOL

Our long time favorite is Chili Pepper in Orange, on Main Street just south of Chapman Ave. Great atmosphere, service, and prices.

There is a small fast food type place off of Harbor called Albertos, or Alertos, Robertos (same type food, many names). I LOVE that place. Cheap, oh sooooo good and quick. I love the carne asada burrito and the 3 rolled tacos (think taquitos) with guacamole. My husband, dd and I split that. Oh I can taste it now. We used to always go to the one down in Oceanside when my sister was stationed at Pendleton. I grew up in Orange County with awesome Mexican food. Now we are in Texas and they have horrible disgusting bland no taste Tex-Mex food. Oh I can't wait to go back home in May! Last year we brought 5 of the carne asada burritos home on the plane. So sad when they were gone:rotfl:

I used to buy tires at Allen tire right next door. Great Mexican food. The occasional drunk old guy wandering around is also quite funny.

I'm not sure if it is still there, and since you have a car, you might love the Stanton Mexicatessen. It's been a long time but if I remember right it's on Cerritos street. Very hole in the wall.

Try being from New Mexico (the home of green chile), living in Virginia!! Every thing called "Mexican" is really Salvadorean--it's still good, BUT NOT Mexican!! I'm looking forward to finding a yummy place in California!!

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
