Hijacked plane being threatened with explosions unless the hijackers can speak with the Mexican president - 104 people on board. Just landed but hijackers on board...

...the plane is on the ground in Mexico City. The flight was from Cancun...

It landed in Cancun or Mexico City?

Let me guess, they're part of a drug cartel, right?

(I'm not able to watch TV to see updates)

Landed in Mexico City - a Boeing 737 from AeroMexico - it originated in Cancun. Hijackers described as having Colombian or Bolivian accents, no word yet about drug cartels...they are saying they will blow up the plane if they don't get to speak to the Mexican President Calderone. Police and federal forces "massing" at the location...

3 hijackers, one Bolivian. They are saying it is a bomb in a large box wrapped in brown paper...

I like Rick Sanchez anyway and especially when something like this is happening live and he can translate the feed from Spanish.

Some passengers being allowed to leave the plane and being loaded into buses...

At least 100 people allowed to leave - so that would be most if not all of the passengers safe. This is very fast-moving...

Passengers are all released? If its true, that was quick!

I just heard that on Fox that the passengers are getting off and safe. It seems that cockpit doors are not locked in Mexico.

Very strange-- someone is hanging out of the cockpit window and talking with the police on the ground. Looks like a pilot or copilot. Wonder why he doesn't just jump out? I realize it is a long drop but could be safer than being on a hijacked plane?

Odd!

Looks like it is over. Federales have boarded the plane, looked like the flight crew just ran away. People were sitting on the ground surrounded by police.

Lots of confusion it seems!

ETA: nope now they are saying these are more passengers being freed by the fedreal police.

Odd!

If he had other crew members still aboard he wouldn't leave them there - can you imagine the furor that would erupt if he just escaped and left flight attendants on board?

CNN is showing several handcuffed suspects being led away - looks like it might all be over. It will be interesting to see what this was really all about...

5-7 suspects. They let the passengers get off with their carry ons? Don't you think the police would want to search all of that?
