Mexican Food!

We have an authentic Mexican restaurant in Maryland, not too far from where I live. Its wonderful, the place is owned by Mexicans. Its nothing fancy on the outside or inside, but the food is authentic.

I love Mexican food, I could eat it every day and not get sick of it!

I like Mexican food too. We eat at Kokopelli's. My faves are Espinaca and chips, rice with green chili and a huge Razzarita.

The reason I asked is because DH found a neat little place about 15 min from where we live, in an old neighborood we both lived in at one time. Its a small Place and VERY Good. The business card reads "Yucatan Style" and was wondering WHAT the difference was...I guess next time we go, I will ask.!;)

Karen, you just reminded me of something. I live in NM, and we have New Mexican food. Big difference, actually. I mean, does anyone else have Carne Adovado, blue corn enchiladas, sopaipillas, carne asita, and get asked if you want red or green? It's really good food. But anyway, one of the big chains here serves a dessert of fried ice cream. Just wondering if anyone else has that! Diana

I love Mexican food! I actually hardly ever eat at any chain Mexican restaurants like Taco Bell or Chevy's...living in So Cal there are so many Mexican places to choose from! I like the family run restaurants/fast food places a lot better. In OC, two of my favorites are Senor Ruben's and Taco Factory. Senor Ruben's is a restaurant that my parents grew up going to, and it is still very good and cheap! Taco Factory is about 1/2 a mile from my house, and they do "Taco Tuesday's" where the tacos are only $1 each.

We have a local place run by a Mexican family called Don Jose. They are wonderful! Best Mexican food I have ever had. They have this heavenly white sauce they bring out with the salsa and chips. It's spicy. I can't seem to find that anywhere else. We went to another Mexican place and the white sauce they brought us was melted cheese.

When DH and I want mexican, we always go to On The Border. LOVE their chips and salsa!

There's a chain around here called "Baja Fresh" that has great burritos. We also have "High Tech Burritos" - but I haven't had one of those in years!

Mexican is my favorite cuisine. I like it all from authentic dives to fast food, to chain. restaurants(we have a regional one called Carlos 'O Kelly's)

Truck yourself down US 1 towards Homestead. We have a few Mexican Restaurants down this a way.

I LOVE Mexican food! Not eating it now, though, as I'm doing Jenny Craig. There's a restaurant near us called Aunt Chilada's (get it?). Very good food and I love the name!

I used to like Chi-Chi's, but they all seem to have closed in the Tampa Bay area. Don't know if they're even still around?

I love Mexican food but the only restaurant that I absolutely loved was out in Ft Collins, Co. years ago. It was called Armadillos but I doubt it's there anymore.

If any of you make it down to the Fort Myers, FL area, be sure to check out Iguana Mia. The BEST!

Iguana Mia

Won't make it down but might make it over. Thanks for the tip, we head that way occasionally.

To me mexican food is like italian food, it all depends on the region it comes from. The same dishes can taste different depending on where the chef is from.

Kitty 34-the Aramadillo is still around and still pretty good! The difference between Tex/Mex or New Mexican food and Yucatan style is the ingredients-Tex/Mex and New Mexican focus on beef and chicken, beans and rice-Yucatan style food runs heavy to fish and seafood-shrimp, scallops and even octopus. Also Yucatan style may include plantains or other vegatables rather than tomatoes. If you are in the metro denver area 3 Margarita's (80th and Wadsworth or on 120th in Broomfield) serves Yucatan style food and is one of the best Mexican places I have ever eaten. They have an awesome salad made with cucumbers, melon and what they call a Puerto Vallarta dressing that is sooooooooo awesome. We also ate at a place in old Town Albequerque that served alot of seafood dishes but the name escapes me at the moment.

Lisa,

You are in luck! They just opened another restaurant in Plantation!
That might be little more convenient for you. ;)

Casa Grande, Mexico, and El Chapala are among my favorite restaurants in Richmond.
