Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

HAPPY MARDI GRAS EVERYONE!! :joker:

What's yummy for Mardi Gras at everyones house?

DH was feeling better enough to make gumbo! I would have done it, but he poo-poo'd that idea- he is the official gumbo maker in this house!

MsMarigny - sounds like bored teenager syndrome to me. I like the idea of asking her input on decorating Sienna's room. Any small projects she could help out with where you need a 2nd set of hands (or eyes) like hanging pictures? Is she in to cooking? Maybe she could help out with lunch or dinner?
That's a good idea- I have to hang the curtains in Sienna's room, so she can help me with that. DH is much too impatient. ;)

We've been watching the parades on TV and people watching here in the Quarter. We had a brunch open house kinda thing with tacos, chicken fajitas, huevos rancheros, Mary's warm bacon dip, jumbalaya, sausage balls, sandwiches, Haydels king cake, pineapple cake, and several libations of the adult sort. Too much food..... but yummers. I'm stuffed:lmao:

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!

Throw me summthin mista!:woohoo:

Lori, sounds like you guys are having a great time there in the Quarter.

One last Happy Mardi Gras - I can't believe it's almost over.

I've been planning for this for months. A friend's daughter was queen of Dorians. That was so much fun getting to go to all of that stuff. They are getting to go to the Rex ball tonight.

I'm watching Channel 12 right now - waiting on the meeting of the courts.

I had several college seniors staying with me last weekend. They were so cute - especially the guys in their white tie.

But here is the most important part - I got to meet the guy who is Mike the Tiger at LSU. He was head this year (there are three of them) and was one of them for the past 3 yers. He is SO cute.

I loved the Super Bowl. I have a friend (maybe former friend now) from Boston. I just sent her an email that said "ELI!" She may never forgive me.

My 6yo..oops 7yo... would be over the moon! Heck, he was miffed at me last weekend because I didn't point out Les Miles' wife to him when we saw her around town.

Hope everyone did OK with that nasty weather overnight. What a way to wrap up Mardi Gras!

Good morning everyone -

My heart just aches for those in the paths of the deadly tornadoes. Prayers for all.

Hi Y'all,

DH went back to work today, so I finally have the computer back! When that man retires, we are certainly going to need two computers.

We didn't do much Mardi Gras-ing. We did go to the Gretna Lundi Gras Monday evening, met up with some friends & listened to Benny Grunch. Yesterday just sat home & watched it all on TV. Loved Rex's speech! How about his pure vanilla comment to Nagin, too funny! We ate leftover muffaletta and king cake. With Lent starting, I guess it's time to start watching what we're eating. Ugh!

Lorie, Good luck with the teen today! It must be the way teen girls are supposed to look these days! My 14 yo niece was here for the Superbowl. She either was on the cellphone, sleeping or just had that LOOK on her face! Her Mom said she was really excited to be able to come over to watch the big game! :confused3

I'd love to have another F&W meet this year, y'all just let me know.

cajunmommy, I'm worried that SIL decided to pull Alexis out of school for the Oct. trip. I didn't think that was the best idea, she'll be in kindergarten next year. I mean she can afford to miss a week, but what happens if she gets really sick during the year. But I'm not the Mom & don't get to make the decisions.

Tricia, Sounds like you had a great Mardi Gras! And you got to meet Mike!

Kathy, Love the pic of OUR two Super Bowl winning Manning boys!

I was supposed to have Alexis here today, but apparently her Daddy "is not feeling well" and didn't go to work. I'm sure that's code for way to much Mardi Gras partying!

Have a good day friends!

Wow, I just saw the news. I had no clue that the weather had caused so much destruction across the country. They said there were 49 known deaths. Prayers for all who've lost loved ones & homes. :sad1:

Hey everyone!! Hope you all are having a great day.
It was a long night...thank God B'ham did not get any of those tornadoes, but I slept with the tv on and had the weather radio on alert in case I did not hear the sirens go off. It's so sad about all those that lost their lives. We lost 4 here in AL. My thoughts and prayers are will all them.

Lisa, Glad to hear you are okay!

My sweet sweet husband just brought me sushi & sashimi for lunch! He took his guys out to lunch, but did an extra order just for me!

Don't I feel rotten about griping that he's a computer hog! :guilty:

Hi guys! I have been running around today attending dr. appts. People are everywhere!

We did not go anywhere yesterday; we just watched it on television...it was a ghost town around here though. Very eerie!

Terry, How was the Hannah Movie? I was considering driving to B.R. to take Alexis to see it tomorrow or Friday. That's if there are still tickets available.

It was okay; a mirror image of the concert though. So for those who went to the concert it was a repeat! We did enjoy the backstage footage and seeing the Jonas brothers. If you go; I advise you to get there @ least an hour early. We did and was about the 35 people deep by then. It will ensure you get good seats. They sold tshirts, posters, glow in the dark necklaces, cd's.

Those tornadoes were so scary. I was supposed to drive back to Arkansas yesterday, but I just didn't feel like it so I postponed it a couple of days. I'm so glad that I did. My family is all okay thank goodness.

Hi all... so glad i found yall lol!

Our friends came in on Sat early and we had TONS of fun !!Had a Superbowl party on Sunday with lots of snacks and then left for N.O. on Monday early and had a ball. Proteus and Orpheus were great.. Bourbon was fun during the day, but way to crowded once it got dark.

We hit New Roads on Fat Tuesday and it was sooo awesome, i love the whole family atmosphere.. Jack boogied the whole time and we ate too much.
It was crazy windy .. had to bathe when we got back to get all the sand off, the wind coming off of False River was insane. We normally park at our friends Yacht club and then boat down to Satterfields, but it was too choppy to do that.

Im looking at booking WDW again for FWF ... cant wait!!!

Terry, WYO on driving to BR for a 5 yr old, who has only seen the show & listened to the dvd's? Would it be worth all the cost & hassle?

Jenny, Well, if you hadn't found us, I would have gone hunting to find you! I would have been missing you, sooo bad!!!

Did you tell us you'd be here this past weekend? Maybe we could have gotten together! What do you think about our Oct dates? 26th -31th we could hook up Alexis & Jack! ;) ;) I also think you would hit it off with my SIL too! She is so much closer to your age at 32 than I am!

Lori, Bob & I have also discussed the 2009 pod-cruise! DH & I went on a cruise in 2000 when DD graduated. This was with friends of her's & their parent's, HER friends not our's. Cruise was fun, but could have been soo much better. I think a cruise with friends would be so awesome! Let me know if y'all are really considering it. Not to repeat myself here but if y'all want to get together for Oct., I think Lori would also like my SIL, I mean if y'all hit it off with the old gal, then y''all should like the younguns in the family! :lmao: ! Then again, we don't have to include them at all, they would be cool either way!

Sheryl. those dates sound great.. i may try to book this week! I had such a ball with yall, cant wait to do it again! I dont think we will hit any cruises in 2009.. well we may, but what we are looking at is Alaska for sometime in 09 I dont care if it cruise or we stay on land, but from what i can tell cruise is the way to see Alaska, im dying to go!!! Our issue is Jack, my parents are not going to watch him for a long cruise .. and i have no other sitter, but i honestly would hate to leave him home for it any way so we have lots of thinking to do. It would be our first big trip and im really not willing to leave him home for our first huge trip lol. If im gonna spend a big batch of money i want him to experience it, and since we have decided to home school, it will be easy to bring him.

So what have we decided on our on meet.. is it April 12th?

Hey Jenny, If y'all decide y'all are really going to go to Alaska, let us know! That is one trip Bob is dying to do!!!! I haven't shown much interest because, we have no friends or family interested!!! Have y'all done any Disney cruises? I know that my SIL is looking into them. So we could do a Jack & Alexis cruise if y'all are interested!
