Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

For those of you coming down here soon:
I have NO idea what the 10 day forecast is for Orlando, but today was wonderful- but at night it drops fast! Today was one of those days where being IN the sun felt sooooo good. It was like that this weekend too. It was cool, but that hot sun just melted you. It's really like south Louisiana has always been except for the last couple years! Sorta back and forth unpredictable, but hasn't been lower than 50's or higher than mid 70's.

I'd pack jeans, capris, and a few long and short sleeve shirts with a medium weight(for US) jacket or sweatshirt. Maybe a jacket and a sweatshirt- but I am cold natured!

LOVED Drew on Letterman tonight!

Lori

Lori, I read the Top of the World Lounge allows you to bring guests. I will check that when we get there. (That will be wed-fri) if not y'all could come watch wishes from the 4th floor observation deck. I also think we can see the Electric Water Pagent from both FW & BLT.

I tried to watch Drew Brees last night, but between dozing in and out and the emergency alert system blaring and cutting off the show, I didn't see much. :sad2:

I am REALLY dragging this morning. Wonder why. :rolleyes1

Make it a good day everybody! :goodvibes

I totally missed Drew last night on Letterman. I got home from work and went right to bed. Working yesterday after Sunday's game wore me out! Anyway I just wanted to stop by and say hello and introduce myself. I'm a Native New Orleanian living in Dallas. I'll be stopping by this thread  It'll be nice to talk to home folk!

Good morning y'all!

I taped Letterman last night and will watch it tonight after the parade.

Lori - The weather forecast has changed for when we will be there, looks like it's going to be pretty good!

I am getting out at 445 but I'm going to attempt to go to this thing. Does anyone from the wb want to meet me and take the ferry over? I'm hoping to get across the river and see what I can see. Sigh I just wish we didn't hve after school today.

Hey, it looks like I won't be able to make the parade tonight. I just got back from the Dr's office. I have a throat infection with a ear infection in my right ear. I'm glad I went today because he said it was spreading into my left ear too. I am going to stay home and try and get better for the weekend.

Hi NOLA friends....

People are claiming their spots quickly down Loyola Avenue so I assume they are doing the same along the route. You guys need to bundle up very heavily.

Wow I hope you feel better soon Mary.

Your poor head! I hope the meds work quickly and you feel better soon:hug:

Oh no! Please stay in and take care my friend.

I recorded Letterman and will watch it sometime in the next few days.

Mary - sorry you're not feeling well. Get better soon!

Serena is right -the crowds are building - and it is wicked cold out there. But someone is playing some good music! Glad I'll be catching this at the beginning!

Hi! Welcome. I have family that also live in Dallas and they sure are regretting that move about now ;) Hope you are enjoying yourself out there more than they are.

Mary, feel better soon! At least it will be on TV which is the way I have to watch it too. My boys last cub scout meeting with their current but disbanding pack is tonight and they are getting some big awards. Unfortunately, the leader is a huge Cowboy fan that cheers against the Saints at every game so there was no way she was moving this thing a day or two. I will be complaining just to be contrary and might put in a few low blows about the Cowboys for good measure. I am not usually like this but I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and really grumpy I can't go. The things you do for your kids... they better know I love them to pieces. I am glad your husband is well this year though (I hope).

So, I arrive at my babysitter's house this morning to find they were closing at 2. Could have called me. Spencer stayed home yesterday to enjoy a Who Dat holiday with us so I was like just great. They warned us at work last week that if we miss time today we needed a doctor's note or an obituary so I went in saying what am I gonna do?!?!? They need a letter from my babysitter. I am picking it up tomorrow... Please excuse Cara from work yesterday, we closed early so we could go to the parade...:rotfl2: I thought the days were over that I would need a handwritten excuse note from my "mom". (she is like my mom away from home)

Hope y'all are staying warm on the parade route & not stuck in the traffic!

Zip - DH's company has a NOLA office right @ the beginning of the route, probably not far from you based on your descriptions. I tried wrangling an invite, but the kids would've had to have walked home. They also would've been quite perturbed had I left them behind!

So at this point I am :worship: to Al Gore ;) and the rest of the internet gods that I can stream WWL coverage. Yea, BR might show it (don't know if they'll carry it live), but they have no clue how to cover a parade.

Futhermore, I'm questioning BR's ability to throw a parade. Did y'all hear Pete Fountain's HalfFast Marching club was asked to leave a BR parade on Friday because they were moving too slowly???? :sad2:

I've been watching the parade on tv on CNN, an on-line on wdsu, and wwl. Fantastic! Makes me proud to be from New Orleans!

I'm so bummed out. We waited 1 1/2 hrs to try to cross the ferry in Gretna. We were told it would probably be several hours more to get across. The ferry only held 230 people at a time. There were literally thousands waiting.
