Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Oh thank you!!

But I feel sad all over again. I had more hope than I planned.

I SOOOO remember those days ....

and the issue with renting to my sister is the whole money vs family thing. They cannot NOT pay us , even 1 month. We were wanting it to be legal so it wasn't b/t us. DH just don't trust her enough yet, and to be fair, I am not sure i do either. She has done some doozies in her life and lied a LOT and even though we forgave, it is hard to trust her. And we know that her DH has a repossessed car in his past and we really don't know him well enough-he is 30 and has been at home and then with my sister and my dad. They have been very stable for a little over a year, and she SEEMS like she has done a great job with thier finances. I guess we could take a chance and give her the benefit of the doubt. I will tell you this though- I really don't think they would default on us b/c my sister looks at my DH like a dad and really respects him. He is the only guy in her life that gave her limits. DH and I started dating when she was 6, so he's known her her whole life. Through my parents divorce, we were the stable ones for her. She lived with us for about 4 months in her senior year, and she made the best grades of her schooling years. She got prego out of wedlock and we helped her with Gabbi, she asked us to take her if she died and be her godparents.

We're just not wanting to let go, but at the same time, would LOVE to have them here-but would be worried about them paying up on a rough month or a layoff, or whatnot. My sister does not even have her GED. But she has a good job now with a oral surgeon and has done well for herself in the past couple years.

We have SOOO much to talk about when he gets home, but for tonight we will enjoy the rest of the game!

Heck, i may have that last Purple Haze in the fridge.

OMGoodness, you are SUCH a blessing! Thank you! We used to go to Pappadeauxs in Dallas to watch the games!

What field is he going into?? I have a friend whose sister is in Houston for her hubby to finish up a cardiology fellowship-then they'd like to come home too!

Lori

C'MON LSU!

Lori, Please call me about the bond for deed. I don't know if you remember any of the complaints I've aired about DH's sister (the one we are doing the bond for deed with) but this really can work for y'all. This sister has pulled everything you can imagine! But the bond for deed is working for us!

Ok Sheryl, I will give you a call this week.
I looked up the sight you sent and we liked what it said, but at the time we were just hoping she could buy it outright so we didn't have to worry about that.

DH said to ask her if it was even an option for her, otherwise we REALLY need to get it on the market! Officially.

Lori

Bethany, LSU is down 5-1, if you are still awake, please go to sleep!!!

I WAS asleep. Must have gone to sleep too early...:confused3

What is the deal with the streets buckling down there? :confused3

I'm down to 3 days of work left. THANK GOD! We have to pack up the classroom while the children attend full days of school. Do you know how much more I could get done if I didn't have to stop packing to break up fights?

But we are not supposed to be packing yet...the official memo states we are to "continue routines and instruction"...yeah, okay...NOT! And on Monday morning, the principal came over the PA system and was chastising everybody on the staff (yes, the kids were there) for not doing mandated things like submitting student work on a display board, and next June EVERYBODY would follow through with professional responsibilities blah blah blah....and I was so glad I'M LEAVING!! (By the way...I was one of the teachers who DID submit the board...but what a way to undermine the teachers in front of the kids AGAIN over the pa system....)

Okay .... heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to work I go... :rolleyes1

Happy Hump Day Gang!

I can't believe our streets are buckling....ITS TOO DARN HOT!

Enjoy your day ladies.

I'm trying to get naps in, but it's hard. He's really alert in the afternoon when DD is taking her nap, and she is awake the rest of the time.
The other day, he hit me with a trifecta- he peed, pooped, and spit up on me all at the same time while he was on the changing table. :sad2:
At least she still naps...you'll get the schedules coordinated soon enough. I'm so glad you can laugh about the diaper changing "explosion". Nothing like a baby to make you immune to the yuck factor of bodily fluids! Of course, I always wondered how they could continue to gain weight when so much was coming out the wrong way!

Monique - Oh yes! We are real good friends with Matty Ott and his family and Kyle has also played with and against Mikie Mahtook, Austin Nola, Grant Dozar and a few others. Also my neighbor's son used to pitch and is now an asst pitching coach - Kyle Beerbohm.

I figured. DS8 would be over the moon. He'll still enamored with Buzzy Haydel after getting a ball autographed at the end of a baseball clinic he attended.

and the issue with renting to my sister is the whole money vs family thing. They cannot NOT pay us , even 1 month.

That's tough. I know I'd be hesitant. It does sound like a good compromise, but be sure you get the legal stuff straight so you don't get caught over-extending yourselves because of the high emotional ties.

So how about a little creativity in the lesson plans that lets the kids help you pack? Writing lists, figuring out the correct size box, counting / sorting stuff, planning an imaginary move to another city - I bet you could come up with something fun!

Good morning:goodvibes

I guess its going to be another hot one today.

Lorie,:rotfl: that's funny-the trifecta!!

Lori,:hug:I hope you get the house situation resolved.

I am set up to get my uterine ablasion next week. I'm kinda nervous about it. I'll be glad when its over.

Got together with 4 high school friends I haven't seen in a loooonnnng time. Went to Zea for dinner and stayed 4 hours talking and eating (sounds like our dis get-togethers;)). I really needed that. I've had my upcoming surgery on my mind a lot lately.

Yes I also love getting together with friends and spending hours talking and eating. :thumbsup2

Okay ladies, did we finalize our get together next month? Is it confirmed for the 11th and if so what time?

Nothing better than getting together with friends and sharing good food and cocktails!:goodvibes

Mary, I'll start praying for you to not be nervous about the procedure. Also that it will be easy & painless for you!:flower3:

I'm glad you were able to spend time with friends! :goodvibes

Hey Y'all,

I'm sitting in the dark with the blinds closed. I turned the AC down early this morning to get the house cold. Hopefully this will help keep the temp below the 79-80 degrees it was all yesterday afternoon. I changed the filter too, it was dirty so maybe that will help.

This is the most cheerful post I have seen you write up at 5:30 on a workday morning! :surfweb: It should all be downhill from here... and just think, this time next year you will be well into summer vacation!

Our Tigers had a rough night last night, hoping they'll bring their "A" game tonight!

Bethany - Here's an article on the streets:

Thanks for the article Kat... I had no idea that Gen DeGaulle buckled too. It is too darn hot!

I am glad that you had a good time! Nothing like good friends and food to lift the spirit! Sorry you are worried about your procedure next week, but you will be thrilled to pieces once it is over and you are back to 100%. To be worried is normal, try to distract yourself as much as possible!

You were doing good Sheryl.. the air just can't keep up here either! I am about to buy more drapes! It was 90 in the house the last two days... (we turn the a/c off around 3:30 as the air is no longer able to keep up and the temp keeps rising anyhow... for the sake of my electric bill) Last summer was so much cooler, I was spoiled.

hey gals!

yes it is HOT!

I finally got to sleep intoday-like it's been 2 weeks since I have been able to:woohoo:

Anyway, I looked at flights for our trip and they have really good prices available. DH has 1 free SWA and 1 free United flight available- so he was thinking he'd do the United one that has alayover in DC(from NOLA) and I'd take the SWA one with the kids.

So, we'll see. We are gonna talk abotu it when he gets home tonight or tomorrow considering the LSU game will bedone by that time and I am sure he'll be wanting to see the post game stuff, the news about it, etc:laughing:

We have heard NOTHING about our other option so we have to move forward:mad:. I am thinking today would be the absolute last day-that we should hear either way. Through all of this we have learned about ourselves:
1. that this is home
2. that we'll be looking to come home no matter where we live
3. that leaving our church is gonna be rough but we will be back for VBS(we have many families that do this each year-it's THAT good!) and for Christmas Eve service.
4. Houston IS close enough for a weekend trip home

How come we never REALLY knew this before? I guess it's one of those things about not appreciating where you are already. We have always been open to moving and I am not sure WHY now. Maybe we just needed a view of life NOT here to see what we'd be missing. And heck, we are turning 40 this year, do we make career moves or family moves?-I know they can go hand in hand. DH thinks I can answer this for him or give an opinion- and I have , sort of, but he really needs to be the one. I am really fine wherever we are all together. But we agree that THIS is home, where we want to be. And like when we were in Dallas, we'll be looking for a way home a few months before contract is fulfilled.

I have a new found love for HOME, and I am hoping we can stay. But if not, I KNOW we'll be back soon to fall back into our old lives that we love.

Lori

:grouphug: I know the feeling. Leaving does give you a new appreciation for what you are about to leave. I am glad that you are finding peace in knowing that you are not far and can visit frequently.

I was wondering about this too....my cousin did this years ago and it worked for them. They moved to Florida for better job opportunities but decided to lease their house because they knew they wanted to come back. When the opportunity arose, they had their hoouse to come back to.

I'm trying to get naps in, but it's hard. He's really alert in the afternoon when DD is taking her nap, and she is awake the rest of the time. If I can get their sleep schedules coordinated it would be ideal for naptime for me! But I have managed to get a few little naps in here and there.

And that is exactly what it feels like- changing/feeding/burping/putting down- all of the time! Like one big circle. And, forgive me, my life is all about baby body fluids right now, but this baby is a super pooper. I can't even tell you how many diapers I am going through in one day- it is unreal. The other day, he hit me with a trifecta- he peed, pooped, and spit up on me all at the same time while he was on the changing table. :sad2: DH never laughed so hard in his entire life. I was like, OMG, this baby is spontaneously combusting! Exorcist baby!

Lorie :lmao: sorry about getting hit with the trifecta... but remember, he will eventually get Todd too.. and then it will be your turn to laugh. :lmao: I am glad you are able to fit in little naps from time to time.

I just got back from lunch at Parrot Pete's with my friend from work. It was surprisingly tasty. Not much in the way of options for lunch... but that was okay. They also had beignets (which Spencer ordered) that were quite yummy. It is always stressful for me to bring my boys out with someone who doesn't have small children. Mine can be so unpredictable sometimes... but thankfully she found them to be comic relief and they were well behaved.

I have not been sleeping well... I think I am just too darn hot during the day to do much (including sleep) and then my nonproductivity torments me at night. When I do slep, I have the strangest dreams... the other night I had a dream that I went to help Bethany change her licence over and they switched us. So they would call me Ms. Piglet and her Ms. Burger and we kept telling them no it wasn't right. Evidently we were causing a disturbance so they got the police to bring us home, only they wouldn't let me come to my house, Bethany had to live with my family and I had to live with her DH and all were miserable (well, except Spencer cause he loves her so he didn't mind having a new mom so much) ugggh... it was the kind of dream that when you wake up.. you feel you really haven't slept cause you have been stressed. :3dglasses

I'm in the dark as well. Poor Sammie just sleeps since she can't look outside , Mom's got everything shut. My temp stayed at 79 yesterday, so far we're at 77 today.:sad2:

I know you're tired but that dream is a classic, both you & Bethany need to write this stuff down.:lmao:

**********Warning proud mom moment.**********

This morning I got a call from Kendall's cheer coach. It was only about an hour after I dropped her off for practice but when I see the name on the caller ID I'm thinking something happened to her. She's a flyer and I'm always praying that they don't drop her. Anyway, the first words out of the coach's mouth is that Kendall isn't hurt. Then I can breathe, and she tells me they are going to announce that Kendall has been picked to be the Captain of the squad for next year. She wanted to take her out to lunch so that was the reason for the call. I sent Kelsie to the grocery to pick up a cake and I went in the other direction to get some balloons. I'm just so proud and I knew how bad she really wanted this. When Kendall got home you couldn't wipe the smile off her face. :)

I hear ya'll on the heat. It seems like my AC never kicks off any more. I hate to get that bill next month.

That is really great! CONGRATULATIONS KENDALL!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

portocall, Wow that's hot! :headache: No wonder you're not sleeping well! I know I'd be actually sick if it didn't get any cooler than 90 in the house. You poor thing, I'll quit complaining!

Kat, I don't know if it's any cooler today? Or if my turning the AC real low this morning & keeping drapes closed, lights off is working. It has stayed at 77 today & the AC just kicked off!

Thanks everyone for the prayers. My procedure is scheduled for July 2 first thing in the morning.

Congratulations Kendall:cheer2::cheer2: That is so wonderful:thumbsup2

Can ya'll take a "Proud Mom Moment" a second time today:

My son David got his ACT score today. He got a 30. We are very happy and excited over here:cool1:

Hope all goes well with your procedure .

Yes I also love getting together with friends and spending hours talking and eating. :thumbsup2

Okay ladies, did we finalize our get together next month? Is it confirmed for the 11th and if so what time?

Yes we did, the time is what we have left to finalize. I was thinking about 1:00

Feel free to complain! It is just (pick your word) HOT:sunny: and our a/c unit is too small for this house. In normal weather it is fine... extreme temps, not so good. I am dreading this light bill!

Your weather has "NO PROBLEMS" according to our news. They were going through the weather and specifically mentioned New Orleans having "NO PROBLEMS". :upsidedow
