Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Morning everyone! Everybody make it through last night OK? Kiddos don't have school here because of a tornado that touched down in St. Amant.

rie's mom - Do I need to send the pirogues? I spoke to DSis & she said it looks like 10 inches fell overnight! No school for them either.

Just a quick fly by here. Crazy week, and it looks like it may stay that way for a while.

Lori - YAY for free dining! But booo for us - can't do it with school. Hope the 2nd half of the plan follows through very soon!

Piglet - That carport is valuable square footage! All the benefits of being outside while avoiding the typical spring / summer showers. As Kathy said, priorities!!

TGIF gang! It has been one long week.

Man that weather last night was treacherous. DD wanted me to sleep with her because of all the rain and loud noise. BE SAFE LADIES!

I got to work at 830 this morning. I just could not get myself together.

:rotfl: No, we're ok but DD doesn't have school today.
:sad1:Her friend's house flooded in Raceland.

Julie - Is the flooding widespread over there? You are confusing me with your ticker, now it's the Yacht Club????:rotfl:

Hey y'all!

Holy cow, it rained cats and dogs last night! It was really scary for awhile there. Glad that is all over!

DH had to fly in from Dallas in that mess last night. He said it was the worst flight ever- extreme turbulence, lightning flashing all around the plane- he was scared to death and is sure he left permanent finger grip prints in the arm rests. He said he felt like John Lithgow in the Twilight Zone movie and kept looking for a little green man on the wing of the plane :rotfl:(if you've never seen that movie, please disregard...:upsidedow). But he arrived safely, so all is well.

I didn't get the free dining email either (I'm a Disney Visa holder too), but it is the talk of the town over on the Codes and Rates board- they've got all of the info over there.

:sad1:

Just got off the phone w/ my Dad - he said water was probably 2' deep in the street (he's in Raceland, too), but has gone down. It wasn't threatening their house thankfully. He figures 5.5" fell overnight.

Kathy - I'm thinking flooding there is just like what y'all are seeing. Typical low spots that just can't handle the deluge in such a short span of time.

We're fine here but there has been flooding in the surrounding areas.

:rotfl:on the ticker- I wasn't comfortable with the kids having a separate room at the Beach Club and the only room available was 1 bd club level @ the GF for over $5000 but that was more than I wanted to spend, so I kept checking the website and this Junior suite became available- saving me $2000, so I scooped that. If something else even cheaper comes up, don't be surprised to see the ticker change again!
I really hate having to keep the changes going but Rie invited 2 friends and paying for their airfare and tickets in addition to ours is $$$$. We love bringing her friends. I should have checked though before she invited them because we're going at an expensive and busy time. I probably would have allowed her to invite 1 friend.

Good evening to all. I hpoe everyone fared out o.k over here in the northern part of slidell we did pretty good, even my easter decorations outside stayed in place.

You're such a great Mom, will you adopt a grown woman who loves Disney?:teeth:

We're OK on the West Bank!

Lorie - I had a similar flight out of Dallas many years ago, I'll never forget it.:scared1:

Hey Y'all,

Lorie, So glad Todd made it home safely! :goodvibes Everytime we get a rough flight, I think & worry about seeing that scary thing outside the plane window!! :scared: Sorry you are feeling so funky! After all this time, I can still clearly remember that late 3rd trimester feeling.

I'm happy that everyone made it through that awful weather!

Kathy, I want to know where & how :confused3 you are going to fit any F&W booths or events in with all that food?!!! ;)

I woke up with my neck & shoulder hurting this morning. Numbness on the right side (instead of my norm the left). So I'm feeling grumpy today too. I've taken 2 muscle relaxers & still no relief. I sure hope this passes, we have tickets for the Martin's big wine event on Sunday. :sad1:

rie's mom, Your DD is a very lucky girl!:goodvibes I think you don't even have to count BC to YC as a change, right? I agree seperate rooms would make me nervous too. I hope the weather allows lots of use of SAB for y'all!

I didn't get an email either, I just called and asked and told them I had a Disney Visa-which they then put me on hold to check for!

Ya'll, this is crazy, I swear! My only true friend at work confided in me today that our boss and co-workers have been mad at me for not working when they want me every time they ask. I am PRN. I work almost all the times they ask, but sometimes I do half days. This is MY life and I CHOSE to homeschool my kids-THIS is my f/t job, and PRN means I CAN tell you NO if I CHOOSE too. Then our bosses boss came in and "hinted" to us that the PRN "people"(there is only ONE-me) may not be as necessary after they hire a part time person. gulp, ooookaaayyyy. Disney is looking like it will be miraculous IF we get to go. They are also looking into the "problem" of our dept... RIGHT then a cardiologist came in and -itched to her about the embarrasment of our dept and how much he hates how things don;t work well. THAT got her attention....grrrrrr.

DH started making a budget without my income......we will be really cutting back!

Vent over....

Lori

Lori you need a hug.

Okay...so my friend tells me that because of all the rain, she has crawfish out in her yard. Is this....NORMAL?!?:scared:

Lori- You do need a hug-. Vent away! I tell you, as much as I miss working and having actual adults to talk to instead of talking poop, pee and Sesame Street with a toddler all day long, I don't miss the drama that went along with work. The petty, high school, soap opera drama is pretty much the only thing I had a problem with. And every place I worked at had its share of it too. I really hope things things better for you, either there or if the winds take you elsewhere (or even if you just stay home). I really want you to go on that trip!

I'm still grouchy today-. Pardon me for saying, but I just want to drop-kick DH for being so clueless sometimes, and I want to give DD away to the gypsies because she has been acting horrible lately. The terrible two's have NOTHING on the horrific three's! I actually talked to her dr about it, but she just said she just has a "difficult personality" and she asserts her independence through engaging in power struggles (power wars, more like...). I am terrified of when she becomes a teenager! :scared1: And I'm about to have another baby to throw into this madness-aaahh! Whew, I'm glad I got that out...I'll stop griping now.

Yep, it is! At the house I grew up in, we used to get crawfish holes all around the back yard- and the crawfish would come out when it rained! I thought it was kind of neat.

Kathy, I want to know where & how :confused3 you are going to fit any F&W booths or events in with all that food?!!! ;)

My dear, we have a plan....this trip will be more about the food than the parks so on our "EPCOT" day it will begin with Soarin, Mission Space and Test Track then the rest of the late morning/early afternoon will be grazing the booths, which should end around 2PM, dinner at 8:30. We're not doing any F&W events, unless something really looks good and at a decent price, which is not likely.

I'm so sorry Lori. Vent here anytime.

You are talking about TIMING of the food. WHERE are you going to PUT it?

Won't you get FULL at some point? :confused3

Thank you, I do. A lot of tears this afternoon...:sad1:

I wish there was something more I could do. I promise things with Sienna will get better Lorie, it's hard to believe now but you will look back on these days and have nothing but wonderful memories, the struggles will not be remembered.
