Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

OMG I have died and gone to Chocolate heaven!!!

Munch a bunch because I'll eat the leftovers!

I called WDW today and was on the phone for an hour with the nicest CM. He added the DDP to my reservation. I wasn't going to get it this time but I figured oh well. He was also able to change my ADRs. Now our TS meals are in our chosen park for the day. It's such a pain when you're having fun and the "Yikes, we have to go so that we can get to blah, blah restaurant for our reservation." We're going to the Sci-Fi, Coral Reef, and Tony's.

Thanks and NO, I haven't even looked! I have a feeling, though, that this is going to preoccupy a LOT of my time this summer! I am actually nervous about it-go figure....
We are sooo used to plopping downa nd having lunch wherever, and this time I do not even have to pack much as far as food goes. I still will bring waters and maybe a breakfast food for the kids(not much though). I do think we'll have room in our car for another person.....hmmmm. I wanna bring DN6 so bad!!! But then I'd have to change hotels....

Funny and thanks, Kathy!

My friends did the Deluxe DDP last November and they said they ate like a KING! So much food and options! Enjoy and tell me where you are eating

Lori

I can fit in your car... :rolleyes1

we did Deluxe in Thanksgiving last year...and I was worried it was going to be TOO much food! but we did some signatures (2TS) that we had never or would never do because of the credits( yachtsman and something else I can't remember!) ..so that was nice. but then had to do Cinderella's table and hoop de do just to use the creds...it was nice to have all the food set up though..

and there was so much food that you might just get 1 adult meal or 2 and split between four of you (if you all like same thing), spreading credits out. cause you get an appetizer, entree AND dessert....and drink too I think

I already know our dinners will be Flying Fish, California Grille, JIKO and Citrico's. Lunch on arrival day is a new tradition started last year - Fulton's; one day will be grazing the Food & Wine booths using up all of our snack credits, the other lunches will be two new places for us - Liberty Tree Tavern and Mama Melrose. Breakfast on the day we leave for US/IOA will be Wolfgang Puck Express....then I've got meals planned for the dark side........;)

never ate at any of dinners but Jiko..bad experience and made me sick...think we were tired of 8 days of eating...

mmm Fulton's sounds good. LTT - did dinner but never lunch there...never ate Mama Melrose's either.

Wolkgang Puck Express is INCREDIBLE. they have some soup I love= we ate there twice last 2 times we went ...they have a great variety and the food it great.

we love sci fi! think december was first time we didn't go....went to coral reef in nov - try to get next to the tank...they have these HUGE sea turtles who hang out there! food was good but i got sick that night....think I had scallops? but food was yummy.

went to tony's right literally after dropped off luggage in November and MVMCP was starting...the food was not that great, although I didn't get anything and jeff just got spaghetti and meatballs...

I am so glad you got free dining Lori... I am hoping that they extend it to my dates in November like last year, but I am not holding my breath... but I have at least decided on my ADR's... to bad I have to wait until August to actually book them. We decided to do dinner at Le Cellier or if we can't get there, Marrakesh, Sci-Fi Dine In (for the kids and atmoshpere, not the food) and then T-Rex, but I would love to add a few more...

I am up for anything Easter Monday...

Umm, al these are on the DDP??? wow!

The only one not on the DDP is Fulton's but we LOVED it so much last year we went twice.:goodvibes

We love Sci-Fi's burgers, yummy! I hope the park hours are released before I make my ADR's because that's how I plan where we're going as we do lunch in the park as well. Of course I have to consult with Tour Guide Mike also.:goodvibes

Did you read that Sheryl's DH can't say no to you.........um I meant the restaurant.

I got the free DD email today as well...Man I so can not afford a trip this year but who knows. A quick weekend would work for me. Do we have to stay at a value resort or can I stay at a moderate or deluxe?

From a housing ad:

"...Carport would be great for crawfish boil..." :lmao:

or, perhaps, for parking your car...

I would venture that you can stay whereever you wish!:tink:

OF COURSE!!! Just wait till you get down here, temporarily and permanently, and you'll see the RIGHT way to use your driveway!!!

Although, we have done the boiling in the garage, near the opening and had them in the front yard!:)

Kathy, your list sounds wonderful! IF we go, I venture to say we will eat every meal on the plan-except Rainforest Cafe!

Lori

I'm grumpy tonight y'all...I'm tired and want to go to bed, but I feel obligated to wait up for DH as he is flying back in from Dallas tonight (it was only a one day trip for work). AND I feel like I've been pregnant FOREVER, but I've still got almost ten weeks to go, which feels like an eternity. Grump, grump, grump...

We close on our home equity line of credit tomorrow morning. Even though we're putting the new minivan on hold for awhile, we still went with the HELOC to have available in case we see something we like at a good price. DH also wants to do more home improvements, and told me that he contacted our contractor (the Jamaican guy), and he would be available in April to put in our closet! Yay!!! Maybe this time I'll actually get my bedroom closet! :lovestruc

Terry- In the past, I always booked at moderates (CBR actually) for free dining with no problem and I've heard that it is also available at deluxes, but the rooms may be more limited. It is so tempting, isn't it?

Kathy- Of the list you mentioned, we've only been to LTT for lunch, and it was surprisingly good! Comfort food, but it was very good (especially the desserts) and it was nice to have a quiet, non-character lunch in the MK that wasn't counter service.

Lori- We're probably not even going until May 2010, but I'm already lurking the dining boards! :rotfl: We won't be doing the dining plan with the newest little one (BTDT, learned my lesson! Babies don't do well with so many TS meals..at least mine didn't!), but I still love looking at the food porn and reading the reviews. We may do the new quick service plan, but I have to run the numbers more to see if that is a good value for us. I'll tell you though, those snack credits are great for breakfast! Last free dining, we used our snack credits to get pastries for breakfast, so no out of pocket for that! We also used the snack credits for funnel cakes in the MK for breakfast, but that is no longer a snack credit-:sad1:.

Hey now, a good spot for crawfish boils is important to us down here...we're a different breed, ya know :upsidedow:rotfl:

Anyways...this portocall is for lunch on Easter Monday? Would it make more sense to meet at 5 for dinner after Audubon closes for the day? I am going to the aquarium that day.
Off to get more tylonel for my tension headache from the way this week is going...

i thought we were going where you were going? :confused3 maybe i need to go read that old thread again.

Guess what??? 1 od the 2 things is happening to make that fall WDW trip come true for us!! But it is the #1 reason YET..... free dining for Disney Visa card holders came our today and we got it! I am praying hubby gets a job SOON, otherwise, it won't happen:eek:.

Lori

i have a disney visa and knew nothing about this. how do you get notified? i feel like i'm missing out.

Hey, you're pregnant, you're entitled to be grumpy! I'm praying that Todd arrives home safely.

Get your priorities in order woman!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl: You do realize I don't know the first thing about how to boil crawfish....:rolleyes1 I think you need some water, some crawfish, some seasoning, some corn, some potatoes, some other stuff....okay maybe I know a smidgen...

I have been grumpy all week and I'm not pregnant. But I do know about the 10 weeks feeling like an eternity...we have 8 student days and 1 meeting day before Spring Break. Upon return, we have 10 full weeks. And it feels like FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Although I almost laughed out loud in a meeting today but I behaved. The principal actually said "I'm trying to make your life easier.":rotfl2: Oh really? Gosh I'd hate to see her try to make our lives more difficult! :rotfl: Clearly, her definition of "easier" and mine are not aligned. :rolleyes1

Oooohhh....a CLOSET!!! :cheer2: :dance3:

Up here, parking spots are important. I think the shooting that was outside my apartment a couple months ago was over a parking spot. I guess my brain is having a hard time wrapping itself around the concept of moving the car to cook. :rotfl: :lmao:

I think that's the plan; I suppose I need to get a solid idea of what I'm doing if that is the case. I'm hoping to work on that a bit this weekend. I just was not able to this week.

I didn't get the Disney Visa thing either. Even if I did, I don't think I can go this year anyways.

still awake...forgot to do powerpoints for the worship I am doing Sunday. I am going to a retreat center to teach on time management and win-win relationships....and to lead worship on Sunday for a group of about 35 teens. Grayce has been 3 times prior and loves it - she ditches mom and dad and hangs in the cabins with the "big girls". we had to go to party city and buy cowboy items to decorate the room...sigh.

and I am awake hanging with Margaret Orr...she annoys me but she has been consistent on for the last hour+ showing radar stuff...

we have had marble shaped hail...and the win coming from the southwest howling through the door in spite of the storm door...hard to sleep when husband is almost hysterical about tornado warnings...:scared1: so I get to sit and watch all night..

:scared: I hope all is well and also that you were able to get some restful sleep.

That radar is ugly. :scared1: Stay safe all of you, okay?

Have a nice time at the retreat. :goodvibes

I'm mailing out my lease paperwork today. It will officially end on June 30. :scared: Guess I'd better find some place to live for July and beyond.

Have a good day everybody...and be careful out there. :grouphug:

Good Morning Ladies. The rain has stopped in Mandeville and it actually looks like it's trying to clear up some. I'm not sure if there is more to come or if it's over. Stay safe and be careful driving today.

I have to agree with you on Sci-Fi. I really wanted to try it and I'm so glad we did. The food was just ok but the atmosphere was so fun. I'd go back again in a heartbeat.

Kathy your ADR's sound great. I'm looking forward to hearing all about them.

Lori :thumbsup2 you scored good with that trip. I hope everything works out for you guys.

Lorie you're entitled to be a little grumpy now and again. It comes with the hormones. I hope you have a better day today.:flower3:
