Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

wow Bethany , look at your ticker!

It's been quiet around here....

:woohoo: My ticker! It says TODAY is my move to New Orleans! :yay:

I'm just checking in really quick...I need to take the modem and cable box back to Cablevision this morning. The line at that place is always out the door so I'm dreading this errand but it must be done. :scared:

The truck is in Pennsylvania already!

Okay...my flight is supposed to get in about 4:30 (CT) and I intend to update my FB status once I can turn on my cell phone. :thumbsup2

Have a great day!

Hey y'all,

Quick check in & I have to get ready for another dr appt in a little bit. I was MIA yesterday, had a low back injection. Today I'm going to discuss with the nuero my EMG results, they also found carpal tunnel problems. But over the phone the NP said the neck trumps the carpal tunnel, so I'm sure we'll be discussing my neck surgery on the 15th.

Bethany, I hope your morning goes smoothly & the flight HOME does too!!! :wizard:

BBL.

Welcome HOME, Bethany and Edi!!!!

get ready for some HEAT;)

Worked today, and happily, b/c I have a reason to work a bit more-WDW!!!! How come it is always easier to go to work when a vacation is on the horizon!

Not for me! Just before I left last year, I was FREAKING OUT. There was so much to do. It was VERY stressful. And making sure that everything was spelled out for when I wouldn't be there...yet I STILL got a call while I was in the Tiki Room:

"So and so is here with Kitty for an injection, but I don't know what I'm supposed to give."
Me: "Well, did you open his file and look at it? Because I wrote all of that down so there wouldn't be any confusion."
"Oh. It's all in the file?"
Me: "Uh, yes." :headache:

What was your plan? Treat the cat without ever looking at its file? Might be hard since you're supposed to write everything down before you draw it up. :scared1:

Hey guys don't worry if I'm MIA for a while, going to LSU tomorrow for family orientation and I've been in a rotten mood all day, everything that can go wrong does for me, blah blah blah, no need to depress everyone else. I'll be back in a few days.

hey still here...

WELCOME HOME BETHANY!:cool1:

just haven't had much to say that hasn't been said before...very worried about the refi and haven't heard a thing. worried about paying bills. got very annoyed at work over increased workload and said something about it. walking a client down the hall and as I pass by a door hearing my Regional Manager saying "yeah she was moaning about..." and I said "YES I SURE WAS MOANING". I have worked very hard since the bull in 10/08. I have made all my stats at 100% but one (not in my control) and the year doesn't end until 9/30/09. got a migraine. can't wait to see everyone - just depressed cause I literally can't buy anything right now.

Some of you are posting saying you're having a bad time but you don't want to bring us down. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we are all here for each other, for good times and bad times. Please don't hesitate to vent if need be...I know I have. ;) But for a little contrast, here's some good newses:

Some happy squeals: :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Piglet is here! My roommate from college is visiting this weekend! I'm going to Disney World in 3 months! I'm going to Disney World in 6 months!

Now, my bad news. I found a tiny lump on Jezzie. :scared: I'm bringing her with me tomorrow to have the doc check it out. Keep your fingers crossed for me and her that it is nothing.

Good morning NOLA! Thanks for all the welcome homes! I have so much I want to say, but I'm posting from my phone. :grouphug: Kat and Kristina, please don't go MIA! I agree with what Jamie said. Ok...more later...

Hey y'all!

Nothing new over here, tiredness and chaos as usual! :rotfl2: But yesterday Erik did give me a little smile! :lovestruc Of course, I went running for the camera only to find that Todd had taken it with him on his bike ride, probably to take pictures of an ant or a blade of grass or something like that. I could've killed him! Watch, now I won't get another smile out of that baby for weeks!

Bethany- Welcome home! :cool1:

Kathy and Kristina- to both of you- please don't stay away too long!

Sheryl- I hope all went well at your dr appt.

Jamie- Hope your kitty is okay.

Lori- There's no way I could stage my house either. I'd have to rent a storage unit for all of the clutter!

Good morning.:)

I have a favor to ask, please pray for me tomorrow morning. I am getting my procedure done at 7:30am. I'm a little nervous about it, but I know it has to be done.

Bethany, welcome home to NOLA:goodvibes:flower3:

Hey friends,

MARY, I'm sending love & prayers for you today! I really hope the procedure isn't painful at all!! I hope you will be able to check in & let us know how you are doing! Please call me if you need anything, I MEAN THAT!!!! :flower3::hug:

BETHANY, WELCOME HOME CHER!!!! :dance3::yay: You are no longer a "psuedo-official" NOLA girl, you are now the real thing! We are so happy to have you living here, contributing to our schools & economy. Thanks for believing we are not all "dead people" and that this is a GREAT place to live! :goodvibes

Kat, I'm so sorry I missed your post yesterday!:hug: I'm sad that things are going bad for you. Please call me when you're feeling like this.

Hopefully orientation isn't going to freak you out & but give you excitement for your boy's new experiences. I know it's a BIG school, but I PROMISE Kyle is going to find these next few years to be and I quote not only my daughter but all of friends that went there "LSU was the BEST time of my life!".

Kristina, I'm also sad that work is so bad! As we talked about before I've heard about it from our LRS counselor & I know you are really overworked!! I'm sorry and I will pray for guidance & :flower3:light in your life!

Lori, I hate to tell you to google home staging, because just reading about it practically gave me heart palpitations! I don't know if real people actually do all of that work, but I think pretty much emptying out the house of clutter, furniture that crowds rooms is probably something you'll need to do. :sad1::hug:

Lorie, Tell Todd I'm going to come smack him on the head with that camera!!!! ;) I've been hoping to see some more pics of that pretty boy! Have you posted any on FB & I've missed them. I know you are tired & stressed but please give me at least on new pic. :goodvibes "But not if it's really too hard, I don't want to work Mama anymore than neccesary!"

Jamie, I honestly don't think we've ever had happy squeals on here before!!! :yay: That's wonderful that you have your friend with you! Enjoy! I hope the lump on Jezzie is nothing to worry about!

Jamie's squeals reminded me of a strange but fun thing that happened on Sat. My DD Angelina went up to Seattle for one of her best friend's wedding. She had called me to tell me the weather was nice & she had just returned from Pike Market & how cool it was. She said she was waiting for her friend Tessa & her sister to come pick up her & her friend Michelle that went with her.
Well a little while later my phone rings, it's Angelina's phone but obviously it was her purse dialing. I then heard the loudest GIRLIE SQUEALS, SCREECHES & GIGGLES you've ever heard! Tessa had just arrived and the excitement was unbelievable! It was so neat to be the proverbial fly on the wall!!! :goodvibes To get to hear my daughter's happiness was sweet & made me all teary-eyed. :lovestruc Ladies, you can see that no matter how old they are, you never stop being a Mom!

Now to the not so great news. My dr. wanted me to have carpal tunnel surgery done on my left hand while underging the neck surgery. Bob & I have decided not to do that. We think things will be hard enough for 6-8 weeks, I don't need to lose the use of one hand too.

We also learned there are problems with the aide situation again. I think I mentioned that we have a girl that is great but is pregnant & due Aug 27th. The agency had 3 others we were supposed to meet this week. Well our aide Miranda told us last night that the 3 is now down to one. And that one only wants weekdays. Which means once Miranda has to stop we won't have anyone. And that's if this new one works out at all. But really I'm not too upset about it. :confused3 Don't know why too much else to get done now I guess.

Hope everyone has a good day! I might take A to the aquarium later today. Chris renewed her membership. So I won't feel bad about just going for a little while.

Mary- prayers for a smooth procedure. You will be glad you did it afterward.

Kristina-:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:Blessings for better days.

Bethany- hope to meet you soon

Kathy- you KNOW how many times I have vented, so please feel free-we are here for you:hug:

Sheryl- I LOVE those "peeking through the window" moments. When my kids were in traditional school, I used to watch through the window-and also at dancing-I was the crazy boohooing mama!
I think you are being smart about your sugery. As much as it would be nice to get it all over with at once, it has drawbacks like you noted.

Lorie- i think we WILL be getting a storage place. My MIL has shed in her yeard b/c she couldn't get a pod after K, so she has cleared them out,and we planned on using them, but it is soooo far(but free). Paul is all about getting the local storage unit.

:woohoo:Went to Walmart today and saw 3 people I knew, one of them being TRICIA and her 2 younger kids, Kendall and Collin. Kendal is beautiful(eyes are striking) and a handsome boy, who, if I remember correctly is Haley's age-9! It was VERY cool to meet you officially! I was in the girls section and heard a little, "hey, are you Lori?" and it was Tricia!! She met Haley, b/c Ashton is in drama camp. I was buying my decluttering bins.
Tricia was so sweet and I am sorry we couldn't visit longer, but I had groceries in the car.

Lori

Lori, That is cool that you met Tricia & her kids! :goodvibes

Argggh, I'm rethinking my cp surgery. My SisIL Chris (surgery nurse at Ochsner) spoke to the head neuro nurse, who worked with my dr- Dr Thomas when he was at Ochsner. She said he is every bit as fast and as good as the ortho docs. If it were her, she'd have him do the surgery. Yesterday Chris had said she thought it would be better to have an ortho dr do it later which wouldn't need general anesthesia. But she also thought that neuro docs took an hour to do it, compared to an ortho dr who can do it in 10 minutes. The nuero nurse told her that dr thomas can do them just as quick.

My daughter & sonIL think that even if I do it later, after the neck, I will still need help to take care of Bob. Things like buttoning would be still be too difficult. :confused3

I'm sorry for venting. :sad1:

Mary- Sending good thoughts your way for your procedure tomorrow.

Lori- You met another one of "us"- that is so cool!

Sheryl- I'm so sorry you're having to go through this- vent away! I don't know much about CP surgery, so I can't really give any advice...but here are some hugs-. It would seem like you's want it all over with at once, but you don't want to be incapacitated either...tough call.
I did put up a couple of new pics of Erik on FB yesterday. :goodvibes I did take some more pics today, but I probably won't be uploading those for a bit (need DH to tell me how to fiddle with the new camera). And I wanted to smack DH, trust me- I wanted that smilie picture!

See what happens when you post pictures online. :rotfl: I knew one day we would run into one another and I'm so glad we did before you begin your new journey in Texas. As soon as I saw you I instantly knew your were Lori from the DIS. :thumbsup2 Lori you are to sweet and Haley is just a doll. Doesn't someone else live on the Northshore too? I need to see pictures so I can be on the lookout for her too. :lmao:

Bethany how's the move coming along? Did your things make it down here yet?

Mary good luck tomorrow. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sheryl I hope everything works out with the aide. So did you take A to the Aquarium today? We really enjoyed ourselves there on Monday.

I'm just getting back from a quick trip across the Causeway. Kendall broke a piece of her braces today and thankfully I called the Ortho and they could take her right away and fix it.

Kathy I'm thinking of you today? How's the family orentation going at LSU?

Tomorrow we are going to Lafayette tomorrow to tour UL with Kelsie and a friend of hers. We need to leave home by 7:30 AM so I won't be checking in during my usual early morning coffee time.

Thanks, I really appreciate the prayers.

Kat, how did today go?

Lorie, I am going to check out Erik's new pictures:thumbsup2

Sheryl:hug:

Tricia and Lori, that is too cool how ya'll met each other:goodvibes

Prayers for a safe surgery!!!

Kat, I hope you're ok.

Bethany, welcome home!!!

Lorie, glad Erik smiled!!!

Lori, sorry about the move. Hopefully, something will materialize here in a couple of years.

Things have been crazy here. My brothers and their spouses and Tim and me are looking into getting a second home together. And guess who is in charge of research? ARGHHH Anyway, if y'all know of any place around Lake Verret or Belle River for sale, let me know. I've scoured the internet and have found 3 good ones and lots of too expensive ones.

I don't post often but I think of y'all all the time.
