Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Thanks for the support y'all. The meeting went well. Rie is on probation for cheering until the next grading period. Now that she's well, I'm sure her grades will improve. I'm exhausted and going to bed.

Lori - How are you feeling? What a bummer to have that happen on vacation!

Kathy -

Rie'smom - That stinks that she has missed all that school and is on probation from cheerleading. I hope she catches up what she missed.

Piglet - forgot to ask - Have you dried out yet? You need to find a way to get back for another game. Under a torrential downpour is NOT the way to experience tailgating & Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night.

I'm dry...some of my stuff STILL is not! (My shoes and purse.) I had ran to Walmart down here at 645 on Saturday morning; fortunately for me they had LSU ponchos for $2 on clearance!

We were in the very last row of the bleachers. It was a nice view from up there - you can see the whole field at once, and there is a cement wall behind you for a back rest! It wasn't raining most of the day. A light rain started I think in the 2nd quarter and then it was more than a light rain but not a downpour for a while. It ended sometime in the 3rd quarter.

I was exhausted by the end of the game so I was glad I spent the night in Baton Rouge. Then I had to wait out the rain on Sunday morning so I didn't get home until about 4:30 yesterday.

I would like to go to another game; I don't know about this year. They are kind of expensive. A game, Corks n' Canvas, and I think the "cheapo" seats of Saints games are all roughly the same price range. I'll just have to make friends with people that have cable so I can watch the game from a dry couch. (Not mine....we don't have a couch...yet!)

Hey Y'all,

Alexis is doing well & she went to school today. No phone call from the school yet, so that's good. We had a family get-together on Saturday, I wish y'all could have seen that child running around with her cousins!

Bethany, I'm sorry you had such a rainy day for your first Death Valley experience! Hopefully you'll get to go back for a nice dry game soon. :wizard:

That is good news about Alexis! I'm glad she is doing so much better! :goodvibes

We still had a good time. I do need to go back though - when I know people who are tailgating!

Somebody was mentioning having a lot of stuff. I am a packrat but I got rid of a lot when I moved. I still have more than I need and I want less clutter but I'm slow parting with it. You know, I "might need it someday." :lmao:

We had a family get-together on Saturday, I wish y'all could have seen that child running around with her cousins! It was something. She did start hurting during the afternoon, rested a little while, after the Tylenol kicked in, she was up & at it again! My sisIL made an awesome shrimp & okra gumbo! But I think I overdid it because my stomach has been messed up since.

I'm so happy to hear this, I'd have loved to see how happy she was.

Hoping this works well, get some rest my friend.

Bethany - Glad you enjoyed the game, even if it was soaking wet. Johnny & I have been discussing going to some games now that we don't have to worry about finding someone to take care of Sammie but not sure which ones. If they keep playing the way they're playing now we may just go to one.

Kyle came in and we sorted through some of Sammie's stuff and we grieved together. I'm so sad for him, while dealing with losing Sammie, Mariah is acting out again, like he hasn't had enough to deal with. Honestly I wish they would just call it off for good, he should be happy and looking forward to baseball try-outs instead of dealing with the "drama".:sad2:

Special :hug::hug: to Serena, love you girl. I can't wait to go to work tomorrow and to the gym, gotta get out of the house. We ARE CLOSING on M&D's house at 10:30 Wednesday morning!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

Wow, my friends, I can't thank y'all enough. Serena & Bethany just left and I cannot imagine what I did before I had y'all as my "family". I'm sitting here in tears so grateful for all of you.:grouphug: Though they weren't here long, we shared quite a few laughs. The first time I've laughed since I lost my girl, felt really good.:goodvibes Again, I love all of you, thank you all so much.:grouphug:

It is kinda sucky but they could have put her off the team, so we're happy for the result.

I'm very happy that Kyle came in. It was a comfort I know. Mariah will regret her behavior one day especially if she loses Kyle because of it.
:yay::yay::yay:on the closing:yay::yay::yay:

I'm happy to be at work keeping my mind occupied then I'll hit the gym before heading home. Have a great day everyone.:grouphug:

Morning Y'all,

All is good here! Alexis was quite happy to be back at school yesterday! She was in a great mood when she came home & had a huge appetite. I got to school on time (even a little bit early). So things are good.

Lorie, I hope Erik is feeling better! :flower3:

Kristina & everyone else, Someone emailed DH an article that said gargling with salt water (or listerine) can reduce your chances of getting H1N1. Also sinus flushing or even just blowing your nose & wiping it out with a damp q-tip. The reason was that you most likely do come in contact with the virus, but it sits in your throat & sinus passages several days before actually becoming active. I don't know if it works, but it's easy enough to try. :confused3

Kathy, I'm glad being at work helps! When we lost Smokey, I was looking for every oppurtunity to stay out of the house. So maybe you should fit some retail shopping therapy in between work & the gym. ;)

Have a good day friends!:goodvibes

Popping in to say hi!:wave2:. For some reason these boards are running slow for me.

Sheryl - that's interesting about the article. Hey, I'll try it - sounds easy enough to keep from getting sick!

Kat - just keep busy!

Have a great day ya'll!

Lauri, The dis is running super slow over here. Last night I just gave up, it's a little better today, but still hanging up.

Hey guys, I'm reading and keeping up, but been very tired and busy. Drove back and forth to Baton Rouge Fri Sat and Sun for software conference. Went in yesterday and going in later today to get our software at work up to speed.

Real quick, one thing I found out while in Baton Rouge hotel - going on at NOMA

Thanks for the link! I'll see if Rie and her friend, Sarah, want to go. It will get us in the mood for our upcoming Disney trip. In fact, we could go the night before we leave for the trip! It looks fantastic.

btw..NOMA is FREE for LA residents and student with proper ID!! we could make a trip of this... hmmm

Kathy - I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have been at a convention where I was in meetings from 6 am to sometimes midnight and have been w/o internet connection for a few days.

I am now at Saratoga Springs - but had to call a service tech to the room to get my service restored last night.

I know how hard it is to have to let go of a beloved pet. When my Sundance died (first cocker) in 1993 - I literally had to stay home from work for two days plus the weekend. I never knew you could hurt so bad emotionally (this was 5 years before my mother died).

Again - I am so, so very, very sorry.
