Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hey y'all, Sorry I haven't been around. Alexis got scary sick on Monday 102.7 fever. I couldn't drive, so Chris had to come home to get her to the dr. She has strep. Of course we had been together over the weekend, so by Monday night I started feeling sick. Yeah I came down with it too. Both of us are on meds, we're both starting to feel better. I'm worried about her though because she's coughing a lot & running low fevers. Aide was a no show this morning so I'm sick & literally tired. I'm sorry for not reading back & keeping up. I pray all is well with everyone.

Jamie - I am saying some extra prayers for you, you are a very strong woman.

Well, I try. Thanks for all the support.

Ug. Strep! I used to get strep every year, sometimes twice a year. I even had it during Thanksgiving one year. :headache: It is a miserable, miserable disease. Hoping you and A are feeling better soon. :flower3:

Sheryl-:hug: I hope things go more smoothly and you feel better ASAP!

Today was bittersweet-plus we just have so much going on-our house was pressure washed today, as was our lawn furniture, then the appraiser came yesterday(she gave us a $148000-154,000 range with a mean of $15000)- next week is the inspector()) Anyway- we had our churchs 1st Wednesday night dinner that they have during the school year and I couldn't help feeling that our days are numbered there. I mean, we spend 2-3x week there for one thing or another(choir, service, bible study, dinner, and now Ash's voice lessons)- it is home away from home. Plus all the singing and joy an love over the years. Yeah there have been times I heard or felt things weren't perfect there, but what church IS perfect. All I know is that it fit us perfectly. I hope we find a church family in Houston the we like just as much.

Gabbi went home tonight- we'd had her since Sunday:sad1:. I just love that kid!

Hope you all have a wonderful night's sleep and a wonderful day ahead.

Lori

:hug: It is hard to move. I've always tried to look on a move as an adventure. For whatever reason, that made it a little easier.

Some good things:

You can get more house for your $$$, so that is a plus.

Just think of the fun you'll have when we plan a meet around you when your family comes home to visit!!!

Shopping- I don't think this needs explanation!!

Your kids will get that cute little Texas twang.

It won't be forever!!!!

Mornin, NOLA!!!

I am going to Parent/Teacher meet and greet at Ursuline tonight...DD has meet and greet tomorrow. :yay:

Hey y'all,

Thanks for the well wishes! We sure could use some wellness around here! I was up during the night with my stomach. Alexis came in at 7:00 coughing up a storm. She's still coughing.

Lori, Have you thought about finding your new church before deciding on a neighborhood or house? Church is such a huge part of your family's life.

Terry, I hope the meet & greet goes perfectly this evening.

haha!!! Thank you!!

Sheryl- that ain't a half bad idea!!! We just figured there are SO many churches in any given area. But Paul JUST mentioned we need to go on a weekend to check out some UMC services! I guess we just figured there ain't no place like STUMC in Mandeville!

I love ya'll!!!!

I am also doing the 29 day dance:yay:, or cheer, but quietly b/c i have a headache right now!

BTW- I am even more excited about WDW-my aunt/godmother and uncle who live in Gainesville are meeting us at DD at Capn Jacks for dinner while we are there:yay:

How was the meet and greet?

Guess who is going back to Disney World:yay::yay::yay:? My SIL pointed out to me today that the schools were having a Spring Break separate from Easter so I checked Rie's school calendar and they have those dates too. I asked Rie if I allow her boyfriend to come with us- in a separate room naturally- would she consider a trip and she said YES!!! Their break is the last week of April, so I think most Spring Breaks throughout the country will have already taken place. The weather should be wonderful!

I was thinking about staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Have any of you stayed there in the past? What did you think? We'll spend 2 nights there before we move to BWV for 4 nights and then the Royal Pacific at Universal for 2 nights.

Hi guys....I am just settling down for the evening. Man was this a crazy day.

I left Jackson at 12:30 and got home at 4. So I freshened up for the meet and greet and left for 430. Well wouldn't you know it. Just my luck...there was an accident of the CCC which caused us to be 45 mins late for an hour meeting. I was soooooo  however I was able to catch a good bit of the information as well as speak to the middle school principal and her home room teacher. So it wasn't a complete wash out. :yay:

We got back about 7 and dd and I started labeling her school supplies. Seriously guys all her supplies fit in a large LLBean duffle bag. :confused3 I am sure I have spent over $150 on supplies and Ursuline gear. Then I washed and flat ironed her hair so she could look good to meet her teacher tomorrow.

Whew, now I am enjoying a large daiquiri. ;)

Terry- I remember my first day at Dominican- I am sure my mom felt like she'd need to work an extra day or 2 to pay for it all!

Hope it all goes smoothly for all your kids starting school this week and last week too!

We started our history with 2 other kids and moms today and it is a doozy- we plan on doing 3 hours of history, geography, art and music appreciation, including memorization, presentation and drawing. This doesn't include the reading the kids and I will be doing for this class every day! wow! I am looking forward to a GREAT start to a crazy school year for us!

Lori

Good morning NOLA!

I just wanted to check in! I'm having a good but busy week and I haven't had time to post. I hope everyone is doing well. :grouphug:

TGIF Gang...

Getting ready for our big morning...:yay:

We've been awake since 6; we've gone to Walmart, Wal-greens and Starbucks already. :rolleyes1

Happy Friday everyone!
Shovan - hope you & A are on the mend. Strep is no fun.

Kathy - I'll be thinking about you this weekend. Big step, but he's only just a little ways away. And yes, like he said, you'll ALWAYS be his mom (and a great one at that). I'll pm you the info you wanted when work stops bugging me - gotta run.

You deserve that daiquiri! Don't you hate it when you have to be somewhere, it seems to attract traffic?

I hope she has a wonderful 1st day at school!!!

Sheryl, how are y'all feeling today? Yesterday I had to bring Rie to the doctor. She has a sinus infection and ran 100.5 fever last night, so she is home sick today.

I've got so much going on, barely have a minute but wanted to tell Serena that I'm so happy for her and Alysia, this is such an exciting time!!!!!!!!!

and Julie, congrats on the trip!!! gotta run.....

Aww you poor thing, you sure deserved a daiquiri. I'm glad you were able to meet her teacher.

Lady you wear me out! Good luck to your girl today! I hope she loves it!

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm doing better, throat is much improved but my sinuses are still yuck. Alexis isn't improving as quickly, she's still coughing up a storm. Her throat looks better & she's eating. Chris (A's Mom) called the dr yesterday & got the same old spiel, give it time.

Kathy, I'll be thinking of you this weekend also!

Bethany, Sorry I keep missing your calls!:guilty: I hope your new job is going smoothly!

:banana:Yeah for you!! Honestly I'm jealous!;) We haven't stayed at WL but have been wanting to.

Rie wants to stay at Ft. Wilderness for our first weekend, so I booked it today. It is an old family favorite because we stayed there when the boys were little. Rie loves it because it was her first Disney resort. Now that she is in high school, she gets sentimental sometimes.

Kat, you're in my thoughts.

Marie has the crud today. Fever, coughing, etc, are making her miserable. Hope you guys feel better soon!!!

We stayed there in 2006 and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. We are going to stay there when we go back next year.
