I'm using Photoshop CS3, and I've learned a TON from tutorials, but I can't figure out one thing: METALLIC TEXT! Argh. I've figured out gold and silve/chrome with tutorials, and I saved them as layer styles for the future, but I can't figure out how to make like metallic fushia or metallic any other color. Can anyone help me? :confused3

This is an example I threw together. I use PSP, but this is a plug-in. Eye candy impact, it will work with PS...

I have PS Elements so I'm not sure if it's the same. After creating the text and applying the chrome filter I then simplify the image, go to enhancements and use the Color Variations option to change the color. If it's still not where I want it I go and adjust the hue, saturation and lightness to get it where I want it.

MomETC -- I can't see the image that you posted. All I see is a red x?

Dom13 -- Thanks. I've been messing with layer styles some. I'm hoping for specific settings from some kind soul.

Thanks for trying you two. :)

Try adding a solid color layer style of the basic color you want and then change the blending mode to overlay. If you want something a little subtler try soft light instead.

I am way off from any of the know how you all have but I played around w/ this just w/ inner shadowing, beveling, light and contour

MomEtc,
How do you use and where do you get plug ins- How does it apply to the program? Does it just add features that you don't already have? I have questions! LOL

you do your normal silver type of text and then you make a new adjustment layer...hue/saturation and adjust the hue back and forth along the color grid to pick your color.

Thanks ya'll! Here's what I've come up with. Here's what the different styles are (supposedly):
1st: gold 2nd: chrome/silver 3rd: glossy 4th: metallic fushia

So what do you think? :confused3

Very cool! I also found some of the tuts at that site I posted are not available- others are- But seems pink pixie has it pretty easily- I am trying that next time I do the text that way-

Looks cool to me!! Better than mine!! lol :woohoo:
I like using the glass on the plug-in. The first one is chrome and the last two are glass.

A plug-in is an application that you plug-in and you can use it to do different effects.
