Has anyone here ever gotten any prints on Metallic Paper. I am thinking of getting a picture that I shot of Cindy Castle printed on it. I am curious to hear some feedback on results.

I think that that shot would look awesome on the metallic paper. Some things I don't think would look good, but that should really look sharp! I had some prints done on metallic of a band that I shot one night and with the colors and lights, they looked great. I don't know if portraits would look good on it. I doubt it. Nice colorful pics really pop with that paper though.

A know a photographer who has used it and says similar to the above -- landscapes and/or photos with lots of color can look great on it. He said it looks striking with some of the HDR photos he's made as well.

I have a shot of the bridge into Tomorrowland that I made at dusk -- all the lights are on and the Astro-Orbiter is whirling, but with a deep, dark blue sky -- that I want to try this way at some point.

I'd guess your Cinderella Castle photo would be a choice, but I can't say for sure.

I have used metallic paper and I promise you that would be an awesome print to use it for. I think the reflection in the water will really pop. Let us know how you like it.

I printed this image on metallic paper in an 8x10 and it turned out very nice. I know I like it better on metallic than I would have on regular paper.

I haven't used metalic paper yet. I would like to though. I have a friend who is a pro photographer and does a lot with metalic paper. He had his entire wedding album printed on metalic paper and WOW is it impressive. Heavy, but VERY impressive. Really seems to bring out the colors.

Another buddy of mine was recently out in San Diego and visited a gallery and the photographer used metalic paper to display his stuff and my buddy was blown away by it.

I had the image below printed on 20" x 30" metallic paper at Mpix, the detail looks really sharp! Saturated colors and detail seem to come out well on metallic paper.
I framed it with anti-glare acrylic, which really dulled the looks of the print. I would recommend no glazing for a metallic print to look it's best.

I just ordered a metallic print from Mpix of the photo below. It should be here early in the week. I'll let you know how it turned out.

I love the metallic paper, I have one client who always insists on metallic paper for her prints

for the cost of 8x10s at mpix why not get 2 one metallic , one on regular paper, then you can compare for yourself..

That will look fantastic on metallic paper. I agree with others that it handles color and detail beautifully, which makes it perfect for landscapes and architectural shots. I've also printed a few b&w's on it and been pleased with the results. Here's one I recently had printed on metallic paper in 8x12 (with a little more editing).

I say go for it! It's more expensive but it makes your fantastic photos look even more breathtaking. Why not?!

I think I will order a couple of 8X10's to test it out. I really want a large print (16X20 or 12X18)of the Cinderella picture above.

How is the shipping costs on mpix?

That shot would look stellar on metallic. I love using it as it just makes your photos pop!! I use it often with B&W, portraits and I especially love doing wedding detail shots with it - rings, flowers, cake, shoes, dress. It makes all the sparkles of a wedding seem real on paper.

That's a great shot. I'm assuming HDR? Your edit on this is spot on!

they have a flat rate for shipping.. so for only a few prints it may seem a little high, but when you place a large order it's great..$5.95

more often than not I pay 10.75 and have my stuff overnoghted..

Actually I've gotten some very good results with people using metalic... I'm sure there are some situations where it would work that well but depending on the lighting it can really make for a very nice look.

As for price... if you can get your photo uploaded and sent today you can get a 8 x 10 print on metalic paper from Adoramapix.com. They have been having a sale but today is the last day of it. They do decent work and if you have a some shots you'ld like to try metalic on, 99 cents for a 8 x 10 is probably as cheap as you'll be able to get anywhere.

I love metallic prints. I have this picture blown up to 11x14 and framed and it looks incredible in metallic. The colors really pop out at you. I order mine from Adoramapix.com as well was mpix.com.

Cool thanks for the tip. I ordered about 10 different pictures in the Metallic Prints so that should answer some of my questions about appearance.

Supposedly they are shipping tomorrow so I should be able to let everyone know my results pretty soon.

Well I received my order today of the 8X10's (Thanks again for the tip on the 99 cent prints thomas998) . I ended up getting seven printed out. They turned out great! I think it gives the pictures some extra pop.

I will be ordering these again. If anyone else has reservations on ordering them I would suggest just going ahead with them. They are great :thumbsup2
