Now, I know that everyone on the Disboards are excellent drivers, but maybe you can pass my message on to others.

When I am in the right (slow) lane already, please do not tail me. I can't go anywhere to get out of your way and It makes me very nervous to have you that close. :earseek: Please respect my personal space and bug someone in the fast lane. Thank you very much.

Ok, back to your regular programming. . .

You do run the posted speed limit in the right hand (slow) lane correct?

Thank you so much for moving over to the right lane! I hate when someone in moving slow in the left lanes! I also hate people driving on my tail too!

That was going to be my question. :)

I like to tap the breaks to freak out tailgaters. :rotfl:

Not too much though, because I'm terrified that they won't stop in time to hit me! For the life of me I can't figure out why they aren't terrified that I won't slam on the brakes. Sometimes I wish I had a beater car so I could do it just for fun without worrying about trashing my car.

I am actually not a slow driver at all. I usually go between 70-75 in our 65 zone. I prefer to sail along in the fast lane but some mornings, everyone else is just a little faster than me and I get over to let people by and I end up having someone push me there too! I hate that!

When this happens, I do my best to ignore it, but admittedly that's hard (especially when their lights or even hood ornament disappears from your line of sight because they are thisclose.

My tricks: take your foot off the gas and let your car slow naturally. This often encourages the other driver to pass.

If that doesn't work, lightly tap your brakes a couple of times.

If that still doesn't work, pull over or pull off the road and let them go on. I try to find a parking lot, mall, bookstore, gas station, etc. to pull into and wait. You never know if the person is driving with a full deck or not.

I always turn on my hazards. They usually back off real quick because they think something is wrong with the car. If they get back on my tail again I turn on the hazards again. They always get my point by the second time!

::yes:: I hate when someone stays in the left lane and they are going the same speed as the right lane or slower. Why are you there?

I agree though, I hate tailgators in any lane. I tap my brakes to tell them to back off.

Oh yeah me too! I also hate when someone flies to get in front of me just slow down and drive slower than I would.

I can't stand people who cut you off and then go slow, especially when there is nobody behind you and they could have waited until you passed. If they were in such a hurry to cut you off you'd think they would speed up in front of you too.

That would be my husband driving right up your hind end. I apologize for him. Sometimes I just have to close my eyes and hope we end up where we are going alive. He's a control freak and doesn't like it when anyone else drives so I'm stuck!

I'm glad you admitted this because I was afraid to confess that my husband does it too. He's not a control freak or anything, but he gets so used to driving in city traffic every day where it's bumper to bumper that he forgets when he's on a normal highway. I always have to ask him to "back off" when he does it because it freaks me out!

I'm not a slow driver, so if I'm in the left lane I'm going fast enough already... What I love is when people flash me... Am I supposed to be scared? Oh, you're threatening me with your lights, I better speed up... Happens all the time around here and all I can do is laugh. Nothing in the world preventing them from going around me, they would just rather ride my butt and flash their lights while I continually slow down... There have been occasions where I've gotten down to 45 before they finally took the hint!

I love watching my grandpa drive..When my parents and him are in seprate cars and were both driving to lets say my aunts house and we leave 10min before them, grandpa always has a tendensy to beat us...

I wouldn't play around with someone like that, you never know what their story is. I don't go out of my way to move for them but I wouldn't antagonize them, either. I have heard too many road rage stories.

In Florida, there isn't a slow lane. There is simply fast and faster. Regardless of where I drive and how fast I am going, someone is always riding my bumper. I normally drive between 55 and 65 in a 55 speed zone. Of course, I am the only one. Most people feel that 70 is at the low end of the scale. It is no wonder that we have at least one horrific crash a day in the greater Orlando area.

Just a quick note, its actually a traffic violation to ride in the left lane (meaning keeping up with road speed and not passing). In NJ you can actually be ticketed for this. And yes, believe it or not a friend did get a ticket for this. :sunny:

Okay, my gripe this morning was this: If you are too old that you have to drive 20 mph and cannot use the full potential of a sports vehicle, please do not buy a Mustang!

Also, I've always warned my mom that if she ends up driving like a slow poke old driver, I will take her license away. Well last week she got a speeding ticket...50 mph in a 25 mph zone. She blamed me b/c I threatened to take her license away if she drives too slow. :rotfl:

Glad I'm not the only one! If our husbands are ever in traffic together we may wind up meeting whether we want to or not!
