I know it is early but does anyone have any idea when they put out the dates for the Merry Mixers? Tried to find the dates for last year but no luck - was wondering how early they start.

In December, closer to Christmas. Last year they moved the location and I think that I remember someone reporting that the format had changed slightly. FYI - the event is put on by DVD Marketing so depending on resulting sales and budgets, the mixer could be modified or canceled, so if you get the opportunity you might want to check it out.

Last year they held the Merry Mixer the last 3 weeks of December only. In previous years they held it in the first week also.

Oh how the Merry Mixers have changed over the years! It used to be a nice party with all of the snacks and drinks you could enjoy, with more personal touches (hard to describe).

Last year it was held at the Contemporary instead of at the International Gate area (outside) and seamed like just a series of long lines to stand in to get the usual promotional items and pins. Oh, and a "coupon" for a cookie or crispy rice treat; one per customer, please!

IMO it has changed just like the DVC has changed. More about business and making money and less about providing a club for people who have prepaid for their rooms.

As time goes on we are seeing more behind the curtain. :sad1:

There was a nice gingerbread tree ornament that you received at the end! We didn't stay long, but we enjoyed the treats, stood on line for a picture with the characters, and thought it was just OK. Little children were dancing and seemed to be having fun, but it was loud music and I found it hard to hold a conversation with my friends.

Thanks for the input - we went a few years ago when it was by the International Gateway and I thought it would be something my DGD age 4might enjoy this year but since we will be there the first week of Dec guess we will find something else. Sounds like it is not what it used to be anyway. The year we went they had dancing and games with the characteres and beverages and cookies.
