So bummed. We are going to be in WDW the week of 12/6 and that is the only week DVC is not hosting the Merry Mixer. Is there something else going on that I don't know about that week?

On December 11th there is the DVC Condo meeting at the Contemporary. Info in on the DVC site.

Although they've had the Mixer on the same day as the Condo meeting before. That really shouldn't be the interference.

We have never been to a Condo meeting but from what I understand while it has to be open for owners to attend they really don't want them there anyway. Why not offer an alternative?

CM availability. Planning, setup, coordinating, supervising, and being there during the events takes CM's. I doubt if DVC has a huge staff for these types of things.

You are probably right. They wouldn't want to double up on the refreshments in one week either. :rotfl::rotfl:

So the CM's they have today aren't as capable as in the past is what you're saying? Because they've managed to have the party and the annual meeting in the same week before.

I think he is referring to the budget. You have to pay for the staff if you have an event. From a business standpoint they are not hosting two events in one week.

It's possible that the needed space isn't available that week.

Since Pop Warner championships are scheduled for that week, my guess is that the space was booked for something related to that. I know in past years, I've noticed cheerleaders going in and out of that area during Pop Warner week.

That was uncharacteristically harsh. You're usually very positive. and helpful.
I too think it is most likely a budget or space issue

Also no welcome home wednesday that week either.

Of course that is the week we are going.

It sounded like Bill was stating that DVC couldn't handle two events.....or I guess it's three if the welcome Home Wednesday is also cancelled that week. I was questioning that statement not the CM capability. DVC has done it in the past. I'd have thought it more likely that it is the space.

I'd also doubt its budget as information from Bill is that members pay for these events. Last year the home depot awards were held at the Atlantic Dance Hall and looks like it's that same week this year and if so may account for no Welcome Home Wednesday.

My understanding is that with the new DVC management things were changed and maybe CM's were reduced or reassigned. We know that they have been short MS CM's with the 40 min phone hold times and we know that they just hired 60 new CM's for MS and they are out of training.

IMO mixers, mingles, and Wednesdays are put on as a PR event paid for with our dues to make us feel good about our ownership. Since they do not generate revenue for Disney, they are not a critical item. The association meeting is required even though it is also paid for with dues money so it would have a priority.

Is the merry mixer worth going to? Is it just like welcome home wed? Never been their during the holidays.

They're fun. I went last year.

Sad for the same reason this year. We'll only be there the 5th through the 8th. So not in the cards for us this year.

My friends do not have park hoppers, and I was able to change our Candlelight Processional dinner package to a date there will be a Merry Mixer. You see the snow, merriment, stay if you want pictures with characters, some refreshments, get an ornament, it's fun.

Such a bummer that there won't be a Mixer the week we are there. We always go the week after Thanksgiving but changed to the second week of December so DD could join us. Guess I will have to stalk eBay to get this year's ornament. Have fun everyone!
