  • Friday, December 23

This event will be held at Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Ok, we have 1 day, Dec 2! Anyone else going then?

We will be there Nov 24-Dec 3. Not sure yet if we are going on the 25th or the 2nd. :)

Sigh, this is our off year for early December. I always feel a bit sad when the mixer dates are posted, LOL.

But I'm happily surprised to see the Friday after Thanksgiving and December 23rd on the list. That might allow more members a chance to attend one of these events. :teeth:

Brand new DVC here ( just 3 days ago! ) We will be in WDW during this time, but not staying on our DVC points. Can we go? Is it free? What is it?

Yes, you can go. Yes, it is free but Epcot admission is required. There is music, you can have character photos taken, there is a prize raffle, there is free lemonade and a crispie treat, and as you exit you receive a free holiday ornament. (At least this is what has happened in the past.)

Can you bring guests to the Merry Member Mixer?

Someone in your party will have to show DVC membership card. We have brought guests, but in the past 2 years only one ornament was given to the group. I had been years ago, when that was not the case.

Do you have to register to go?
No

Just be warned the line gets long FAST. It moves decently fast, but we got there right at start time and the line was already to the entrance of the world showcase by that little gift shop.

We wait and go in about an hour after opening. The venue is not crowded with people going in, getting a drink, walking around a bit and leaving. I get the feeling that many go just to get the holiday ornament. Kids seem to enjoy the DJ, we find it loud, lines for characters aren't bad.

I did not see it on the member website. Can someone share a link. What is this event about? What characters are there? Is it worth arriving a day early for? Do you RSVP?

I really like the ornament. The cookies are good (the kind you would pay $5 for at a Disney bakery counter, my son loved them. You get 1 per person, they give you a ticket to exchange for the cookie). Having said that, I wouldn't alter my schedule around an ornament and a cookie. We didn't stay long.

You don't RSVP. I am not sure if the characters change from year to year.

I've not had any children come with me to the event, but some children there really are enjoying the dancing and contests. It does get very crowded. If it isn't too hard to change and come early, I would and see for myself.

Usually see Mickey and Minnie together and Goofy. I think there may be 1 more but can't remember. The nicest thing is they are all in holiday attire!

It was LILO/Stitch, Mickey/Minnie and daisy/Donald at ours.

The cookies were awesome. I'm always too cheap to buy them, but I probably will buy one next trip because my kids loved them.

We basically had time to meet Lilo/Stitch and then the kids colored some postcards for the troops.

They close the character lines pretty early because they get long.

We finally went to one last year. Enjoyed getting the ornament (without buying on Ebay although one Dec we were at Aulani and they gave us one. :thumbsup2). It was fun to see but too loud as most of these parties are. I keep wondering if kids require that stimulation these days to enjoy (jk - I don't think it's required) or if Disney is trying to make them and the rest of us deaf. Anyway, enjoyed some lemonade, picked up a cookie and left. We had waited until 30 or so minutes after the start of the party and it was still a 20-25 minute wait to get in. Verifying DVC cards was the hold up and being poorly handled but we made it. Would I go again? If we happened to be there I'd wait at least an hour into the party and go get the ornament, but I don't feel a need to plan around it.
