Merry Eats at DL/DCA this Year?

That would be excellent!! :cool1: chocolate is yummy too, and with mint....
I make a peanut butter butterscotch rocky road type (with mini marshmallows and chunky peanut butter) fudge that is super easy too, it's the only one I've ever been able to do! It gets gobbled up when I make it.
The last time I had the candy cane bark, it did not have sprinkles on it like that..... it's sooooooo good!
I see they don't have holiday mocha's this year. I don't know what they used to put in them, but I was addicted to them! I am going crazy waiting to be there for all the goodies as much for the rides!! :santa:

Ok, you have to share your rocky road fudge with me because YUM!!!!! LOL I'll show you mine if you show me yours.....LOL

Hey, you will be there at exactly the same time I am! I am also leaving in two weeks, on a peppermint hunt!! I don't know how long you are staying, but I am there from 19th - 22nd. I should have my LGMH dangling from my bag somewhere, so look for me!

I will be on the lookout for someone with a LGMH! :) We are going down to DL because my DD's boyfriend is proposing to her 2 weeks from tonight! His family and our family will be going down to share in the joy and excitement. It's a surprise to her (although I think she suspects something!), so if you see a group of 9 people with a young lady sporting a big grin and new sparkly diamond ring, that would be us!:cloud9:

I will look for a super excited group of 9 people and a sparkly ring!!! I have known some folks who got engaged at DL (in front of the Castle, to be exact), and they said that being there made the proposal even more magical and special. I hope everyone can keep the secret and your daughter doesn't find out for sure, even though she suspects. Is there any plan for where her soon-to-be fiance is going to pop the question? Is it up in the air until you get there or is there a plan? Would it be someplace obvious like in front of the Castle, or someplace totally unexpected, like in the middle of the POTC ride or something?:rotfl: Anything to throw her off track, I would think!

I saw no LGMH's the last time I was at DLR, and if anyone spotted me they didn't speak up. I am holding out hope for this trip!

:woohoo: :surfweb:  :lmao: :cool1: :flower3:

thanks for the info - useful thread...

this seems useful information...thanks for sharing... :woohoo:
 :teacher:

He wants to do something involving the castle. He called me a couple of weeks ago to get the DL guest services number to talk to someone for some ideas. I don't know specifically what he is doing or the timing. :)

I have tried to spot LGMH, too, but sometimes it's hard! If someone is wearing a LG shirt, I never know whether to go up to them or not! Good luck on your search for peppermint goodies! :goodvibes Maybe we'll run into each other there!

I have a lot of pictures scattered about in the PhotoPass thread, and also in my Trip Report (link is below in my signature). I will probably be with that same friend or group of friends, too. So you can see what we look like and then keep an eye out for us. I will be hunting out peppermint goodies - even if I don't eat the treats, I like to see them up close! :goodvibes

I just checked on Accuweather, and it now appears that rain is looming on the horizon for part of the 20th and it looks like definite rain for the 21st (it is still early yet, but we will see). Drat! Anyway, I hope your daughter's boyfriend plans his proposal accordingly - he may get rained out!:goodvibes

I know what you mean about the rain Sherry :( But hopefully that'll thin out the crowds?? I'm bummed about the rain as just the other day it looked like 70 and partly cloudy. But I am a rain expert and it doesn't bother me...it may actually be fun :)

My BFF's DFi just propsed about 2 weeks ago....at DL!!! He proposed at the Wishing Well. He told her to close her eyes and make a wish facing the well, so she did. He then asked her what her wish was and she said she couldn't tell him or it wouldn't come true, he told her that if she wanted to know his wish she should turn around, she did and he was down on one knee. :) Of course she said yes. :)

Goosebumps!!!! How sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!! :goodvibes DH was going to propose on our trip there some years ago but he got too excited and couldn't wait :lmao: But I still love him.

We watched the fireworks in front of the castle, actually near the "Friends" statue last Friday. And just when it started to snow and play "I'll be home for Christmas", my DH turned to me and said "I love you". After 34 years, it just brought me to tears. Maybe watch the fireworks near the castle or the statue and propose just as the snow starts and the "snow" lights up the trees and castle.

Exactly! Just the other day on Accuweather, there was no rain around my arrival time! It was around 70, as you said. But it is still far enough away that it might change direction or get delayed by a few days. I can roll with light rain that is not intrusive, but I really wanted to get a LOT of pictures of all kinds and the rain will put a dent in that plan if it happens! The PhotoPass people go indoors, my friends won't stop and pose, they will be running for the nearest shelter, it will be a mess. So just for the sake of having a fully productive trip all across the board, I hope the rain holds off a bit. But yes, even if there is the threat of rain, it will keep crowds down. So maybe if it just threatens to rain and doesnt actually rain, then that will be good for me!!! IT will be enough to keep people home but not enough to mess up my trip!:rotfl:

That's beautiful! I think that is what every woman hopes her husband and marriage will be like 34 years in! I hope you said it back to your DH and gave him a big hug!

I think everyone who travels with me has learned to humor me about posing and stopping when I see fit :lmao: Photos can be a pain at the time they are taken but they are so fun later! Everyone always says "why didn't we take more pictures on that trip?" So I try to take as many as we have time for...random live action shots and poses. Thankfully they do as I ask. Perhaps it is because I am a redhead and they dont want to make me cause a scene at disney :rotfl:

That used to be the case with me too in the old days. Years and years ago, I was always the one with the camera, snapping posed shots, candid shots, people doing wacky things at parties, just non-stop snapping! The 'subjects' would get annoyed. "Oh, there's that @#$%&* Sherry with her @#$%&* camera again." Groan, whine, moan, complain. BUT, when the pictures came out, and especially as the years started to pass, all of these people started to say, "You have to give me copies of that!" I have had friends consult with me to look over all my albums so they can arrange to have 100 copies made of all kinds of things now. But at one time, they were all about complaining! Now, everyone remembers me as being the one who took the fun pictures!

Still, I get complaints now. I want to stop at a good photo spot - for my own pictures or for PhotoPass - and I have to corral everyone who is racing off in the opposite direction and get them into the picture. "Trust me," I say to them, "everyone always complains at the time we are posing, but later on, you will ALL be happy I took these and want copies!" So, they will oblige, but sometimes it is like pulling teeth and they look miserable in the pictures, or like kidnapping victims, which bums me out! During rain, however, there is just no getting them to pose. They will run to a covered bench before I press the shutter!

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I'm sorry but that just cracks me up! People are so silly!!

I understand...rain is not always enjoyable, especially when you are not used to dealing with it. I doubt the rain would stop me from taking pictures but is also rains here...A LOT. I dont like when people dont smile and ruin a picture. My sister did that in some of my wedding photos and I am still pissed about it :lmao: So I told her I will return the favor some day! Anyhow..I will make them stand there until everyone is smiling. The longer they moan the longer the photo takes! I hate having my picture taken but I will always smile and "get it over with" and I do this because I know it makes whoever wants the picture happy. And Disney, and vacation, is all about keeping everyone happy! :thumbsup2

When years pass, I don't think there is ever a situation where people are glad they didn't take photos at a certain event 10 years earlier or glad that they didn't get in any pictures themselves. If anything, I look at all the pictures I took and wish I took even MORE than I already did! Let's face it - our memories will fade and get fuzzier as we get older, and pictures help us remember what we did and who we used to know or who we used to date or what vacations we took or whatever! So, if people would just realize this NOW rather than later, and stop insisting on looking like hostages in the photos, then everything will run much more smoothly and the photo sessions will be much faster!:rotfl:

Well I truly wish you the best of luck! Thankfully on my dec trip its only DH and I and he never turns down a photo! But in April there will be 13 of us and four kids all under the age of 3...so that should be interesting trying to get the lil ones to stay still lol

But back to merry eats...Does anyone have more info on the peppermint fudge? My lil sis loves anything peppermint but she doesn't like dark chocolate, I am curious if it is more of a white chocolate fudge or is it dark? Also where can we find the peppermint bark?

Ooooh! 13 people! Yikes! That will be some group photo if you can pull it off!

I saw the peppermint bark last year in the Candy Palace, in Marceline's in DTD, and in that candy place (forget the name) in DCA. I think I even saw it in some other shop too - I remember it kept popping up wherever we went, but I never had a good opportunity to stop and ask them for a small sample. They had it behind the counter and also wrapped in plastic with several pieces in it, as a gift package. I think I even saw a whole box of it sold in Marceline's!

And I always assumed that the peppermint fudge was a white chocolate fudge because it is white on the outside - we ran into that everywhere too! I would be surprised if it is not white chocolate inside. I would want a sample of that too before I bought it - just in case it is horrible, for some reason!

It was fun reading about the different proposals (or sweet "I love yous" from hubby!) I hope the weather holds out! Just yesterday it said "abundant sunshine" for the 20th! Well, I guess that means more yummy treats to try indoors! :)
