Merry Eats at DL/DCA this Year?

Why are they taking the letters away? I love it when they are peppermint striped..

Well, let me correct myself - I THINK the letters at the entrance to DCA will be gone by next Christmas. It may be the year after that. The letters are coming down as part of the transformation of DCA over the next few years. Since they are kind of changing the theme of the park in some ways, the whole front section of the park - inlcuding the letters - is going to be revamped or removed. The Golden Gate Bridge is eventually going to be gone. There was even some talk at one point about a name change for DCA, much like Disney-MGM changed to Disney Hollywood and EuroDisney changed to Disneyland Paris, though this is still up in the air as to whether or not it will happen. Latest reports say no name change, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do change it a little once the park is made over. I would imagine they will put up some new style of a sign at the entrance that says California Adventure - or whatever they decide to call it if it changes - but, supposedly those letters will be gone eventually.:sad1:

Thank You So Much Sherry!!! I can't wait to see the maps and hear all about your trip. I hope we are able to find out about the eats, I wonder if they do ship them, that would be awesome if they did, I could have a little bit of DLR here in PA for the Chirstmas season!!!!!:goodvibes

How much would it cost to ship you a cookie? If you call and ask and they tell you no I would be willing to get a cookie for you, although not sure how well it'd ship and travel...or if they come packaged or not. But even if you can't eat it you could look at it? :rotfl:

I was wondering that, too - whether they sell any of the gingerbread men w/ ears pre-packaged. Last year I know I saw them in display cases in the Candy Palace and Marceline's and somewhere else, but those were the ready-to-eat ones. For some reason, it seems like somewhere in the back of my mind I recall seeing cookies wrapped in plastic. I could be very, very wrong - and again, that is a question for Disneyland DelivEARS, probably - but there may have been some sold in plastic. Certainly DLR must get requests to ship some of their food items to other places, so it doesn't seem outlandish to think they would ship some cookies!!! I can see where they can't exactly ship the fresh cinnamon rolls, but it is easy to package cookies in shrink-wrap!

I could have sworn when I went in Oct they said they can't ship food items I may be wrong though. I am curious as a PP mentioned new menu items for what will you celebrate. Do you happen to know what these might be? Thanks

Anything that is sold in the DLR Restaurants (including the bakeries) can't be shipped as they aren't part of the DelivEARS system.

As to the Stores (Fudge, their Gingerbread Cookies, and whatnot), if it's packaged, they can send it to you. However, the Fudge and other single pieces, I don't think they will (and if they did, the shipping would probably cost more than the item).

We're going to be offering a whole bunch of new food options, and sprucing up a lot of the current ones.

You can find information on it here.

Great information to have, once again!:goodvibes

We just got back. The smells walking through DD and Main Street were amazing. I loved the peppermint ice cream in a holiday waffle cone. And the gingerbread cookie with Mickey ears was wonderful.

To the poster who asked if they came wrapped- they do! We went on the holiday tour and were given hot cocoa and a cookie. The cookie was packaged in a clear wrap. I didn't see them sold anywhere this way but we got them. They were yummy!

Oh that's right! It just clicked in my head this second - you were on the holiday tour with Cheri (DizMe), right? I remember that two DIS-ers were doing the tour on the 23rd! How fun! See, I KNEW I had seen a wrapped gingerbread man w/ Mickey ears cookie last year, but I wonder if I saw it in the stores (like Marceline's or Candy Palace) or if I saw it in someone's hand. Maybe someone who had taken the tour was holding the cookie!:confused3

I must have the peppermint ice cream in the holiday waffle cone! I cannot resist that!:santa: And the cocoa sounds like such a good idea now that it is about to pour rain on us in SoCal!!

Does anyone remember DL having tamales in the past around this time of year? I didn't partake, but I HATE knowing there was something that existed I completely overlooked. Even if they tasted terrible, I would have liked the option to get it if I felt the urge.

I know they have chimichangas (sp) but I haven't seen anyone mention tamales.

Jack Skellington Cheese Cake

They had this when we were there in October. If it's the same one, it was good! :thumbsup2

No, although my kids tried. :rotfl2: He was ceramic or something.

ETA: It's hard to make out in the pic, but the whip cream is supposed to be in the shape of Zero.

Aw adorable!

Looooove Nightmare Before Christmas :rotfl: :rotfl:.

Is there any festive NBC foodums around the park?

That cheesecake I believe is the only NBC themed food. Although when I was at the French Market in Oct, I didn't see it. But I got jell-o in a coffin for dessert instead! :goodvibes

There are HMH popcorn buckets and souvenir mugs. I don't know if you'd consider those NBC foodum items, but food is definately in it! popcorn::

:offtopic: 600th post. Yay!

We ate dinner there on Oct. 15 and they had them then. Jell-o in a coffin sounds cool though!
Congrats on your 600th post. :cool1:

Not the mug, but this is the popcorn bucket they had. It's cute.

I sure hope that the DISers who are going soon will come back with some pics to post!! I'd love to see some of these goodies we've been hearing about.
I'd take a bunch..........if I was going. :sad2: :(

What is this? I saw a picture and it came in a ceramic mug but could not tell what it was.

It differs from Restaurant to Restaurant.

Café Orléans serves Espresso in the Demitasse with two Mickey Mouse-shaped Beignets sprinkled with Powedered Sugard on the side.

Plaza Inn serves a Candy Cane Chocolate Pot de Crème Peppermint Cake in the Demitasse with a Christmas Tree Sugar Cookie on the side.

The remaining restaurants (Blue Bayou, Wine Country Trattoria and Storytellers Café) will serve a Panna cotta with Chocolate and Créme in the Demitasse, accompanied by a Christmas Tree Sugar Cookie on the side. A Panna cotta is an Italian dessert made by simmering cream, milk and sugar together, mixing with gelatin, and letting it cool until it sets (thank you Wikipedia :)).
