I thought I would try to set up a shot using the self timer(10 seconds to run and jump in my spot). I just wanted to say Merry Christmas from my family to yours!

Good Job with the picture! With kids this can be very hard to do. Merry Christmas to you and the family as well as everyone else on the Dis Photography boards.

Thankyou Marlton Mom, it took me a couple of tries to get it right. I wish I had an IR remote.

Yeah, that's a lot of exercise running back and forth from the camera to the sofa and trying to get the kids to look at the camera, LOOK at the Camera! NOW SMILE!!!!!! :lmao:

After awhile they start to think Daddy's turned into a nut! .... but it was worth it! It's a great shot!

You did great! Especially considering you had to settle a kiddo on your lap as well.

It can be hard to get into place with the self timer. I just did a project where I was in two of the shots and I had to use the self timer because I've never gotten around to getting a remote for the 50D. It took me a good 20 tries for one of the shots.

Happy holidays!

Merry Christmas back at ya! Thanks for sharing a lovely pic of your family.

Hey Gianna'sPapa, how is your wife? I hope you all had a great Xmas today.

She is out of intensive care and on the intermediate care floor (telemetry). Every indication is that it was a major heart attack. Its going to be a long recovery. We have excellent doctors and family support so we are taking a very positive approach that eventually all will be well. Everyone has been very supportive. I'm taking a break from the hosptal tonight while my youngest is having some private time with Mom (they are very close and she just happened to be in town for Christmas). I'm watching the Bulls come back in the 4th right now and am fearing the Packers are going to kill the Bears tonight!:rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Beautiful family portrait!

Gianna's Papa, sending prayers your way for a speedy recovery for your beautiful wife!

Merry Christmas All!

Gianna'sPapa, I can kind of understand what she is going through. When I was 29 I had a Heart Attack. At the time, my DW(RN) kept trying to convince me to go to the ER. She kept telling me I was having a heart attack and I was being stubborn(a typical man). It took me a week to go to a Cardiologist and get a checkup. To make a long story short, I am glad to still be here. I left the hospital with 2 stints in my RCA. Everyday I pray to make it until my girls are grown and married. Anyway, enough about my story, my prayers are with your wife right now.

Tomorrow is our big rivalry in the DOME! I'm looking forward to Brees breaking that old Marino record.

!!!!!!WHO DAT!!!!!!WE DAT!!!!!!

Take care of yourself, thanks for the support and take care those beautiful little girls!

Thanks Gianna'sPapa! I have been looking at your photos and exif data to try to plan some shots on our spring break trip. Watching the parade today is making me more excited about being there in 94 days. Do you have an UWA? I had to make a decision between the Sigma 10-20 or the Tamron 60 f2 macro and I chose the Tammy. I think I will use it more frequently than the UWA. I am just having thoughts about missing out on shots around WDW without the 10-20. What are your thoughts? The 60 will be here Wednesday. My current setup is D5100/18-55/35 f1.8/Rokinon 8mm fisheye.

No, I don't. With the majority of my photography being involved with motor racing, I haven't had the need. My normal walkaround lens is a 28-70 f2.8. If I need to go wider I use my 18-55. With my K10 it was sometimes a struggle with lowlight. With the new K5 (and the new 18-55 WR version) with the higher usable ISO, I seem to pick up an extra stop or two. Eventually, its one of my goals to get one. More than likely I would be looking at a 10-20 or 12-24. At the big speedway I use the 70-200 and 100-300 for the track and the 28-70 in the garage. At the dragstrip (Route 66), I'm much closer to the action so I have used my 18-55, 28-70 and 70-200.

Saying all that, I have seen some amazing shots with the UWA. On this past trip, I took about 2600 shots which was about half of what I normally take. Of course, this trip was never planned to be a total photography trip because it was our Anniversary trip. I had some very specific goals for the lowlight rides some other things and was able to achieve most or at the least learned more about the K5 for next time.

Gianna'sPapa.. we'll be keeping y'all in our thoughts down here in Texas. Even though we like the Mavs and not the Bulls.

GiannasPapa, these boards are the reason I want the UWA. I think I have UWA fever. Maybe I can talk the DW into letting me get the 10-20 before our March trip. I'll tell her its a necessity!
