We are thinking of AoA mermaid room for the first time, but we need to be able to fit a twin blow up mattress. Is there room to fit it? I'm thinking of by the door- we would take it down each morning.

Yes, that should work. Will be a little tight, but if you are taking it down each morning, it should be fine.

As a hotelier I have to say, by the door is not good especially if it blocks the egress (exit) from the room in any way. The chance of an emergency is of course low but if you do have to exit quickly you will have far less time to get out than you would think. 90 seconds from room to outside is the max. So use the mattress, sure it’s okay, but don’t block the ways out.
