Hi,
I'm finalizing details for my cruise out of Galveston on the Magic. I want to do an excursion in Merida but have not been able to find any trip reports for any of them. I'm leaning toward the art excursion [Enchanting Artistry: Merida's Cultural Delights and El Pinar Manor Experience (PGO36)] but am curious if anyone has had any experience with this or any other excursions in Merida? the beaches and Mayan ruins definitely seem more popular so I'm wondering if we will be solo on this? I've done cenotes and mayan ruins in the past and they are very cool but I've never been to Merida so want to check it out : )
TIA!

This sounds like a decent option for those who enjoy exploring on foot, with an emphasis on art and architecture.

Definitely a break from cenotes and Mayan archaeological sites.

I wonder if this excursion is new; I see nothing like it in an internet search (to cover more than Disney).

I think there are other guests who would be interested in this.

Oh I wonder if you’re right and it’s new—would explain why I can’t find anything about it anywhere!! Will have to go and report back myself ☺️

Thanks to you, I am adding to my knowledge bank.

“Why is Merida Mexico famous?

Mérida, Yucatán - Wikipedia

The city's rich cultural heritage is a product of the syncretism of the Maya and Spanish cultures during the colonial era. The Cathedral of Mérida, Yucatán was built in the late 16th century with stones from nearby Maya ruins and is the oldest cathedral in the mainland Americas.” - Wikipedia

Merida has a population of nearly 900,000 and is home to four universities. It is the capital of the state of Yucatan.

We booked something similar, a “Scenic Photo Tour and Foodie Experience” in Merida, after we found I wouldn’t be able to walk around ruins in January. It was cancelled shortly before our cruise - not enough people signed up. Hopefully your tour will happen!
