merging reservations

They work the merge (and waitlist) requests in the order of arrival.

Well that is what they claim. I submitted a request 8/13 for a merge, and got an email saying allow 7-15 business days. It has been 10 business days now, and still not merged, but dollars to donuts other merges have been done in the last 10 business days. I don't know if it got set aside and forgotten or what. Same thing happened last time I made a merge request (many months ago). I called in after 15 business days passed, and they resubmitted it. It took another 8 days after that!

Just an update. I submitted the request to merge my two reservations 8/14. I was told it could be up to 4 weeks. But they were merged today 8/28

I put in a waitlist request on 8/11 and still has not come through. I have called twice about it and they said it goes in queue and they do them in queue order.

I would not be surprised if they have one or two people that are allowed to do this and only do it for one hour a day because their position has them wearing multiple hats and combining reservations is low on that list. That's just my feeling.

I submitted a merge request via the Chat tool earlier this month and it took about 10-days to complete.

for follow up purposes, mine got processed on a 10-day turnaround. all in all not bad!

We put one in on August 22, not processed yet. Guess we will follow up next week.

Ours got processed this afternoon, so 10 or 11 days. Not bad. We'll have to do it all over again if we can get the same room type at Poly for the first night.

They used to merge without contacting them. Any idea why they stopped?

on phone. they told me 10 days for my merge. i also waitlisted a 1bedroom for the length os stay also. not like it will happen but hey who knows. i think i have been a good person. maybe i'll get some good karma.

We used to merge (pre-COVID) split stays, to allow us to book harder to get reservations near the end of long stays. During COVID they told us it was no longer possible, so I'm excited to see that it looks like they're possible now.

We're going in January, and have a bunch of things booked: 3 days @ CCV, 4 days on a cruise, 3 days @ VGF. Does anyone know if it's possible to merge w/a cruise in between?

They never stopped merging reservations for DVC stays that we’re the same room type, but booked at different times.

Or are you referring to the ability of DVC to connect rooms for split stays that were at different resorts for dining?

That is no longer possible. The merging here is referring to combining of several reservations back into one since they are the same room and same resort.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. I was talking about merging different resorts for dining.

The last time I called to merge two resort reservations they told me that they no longer could, due to new systems and working remotely as a result of COVID. I was told the reason they "helped" was b/c the legacy room reservation systems required them to manually connect the two reservations, so that the dining reservation system would see them as the same start date. That's what allowed booking from the first through the last of the stay. While they WFH they lost that access, and couldn't help. When I saw this thread I hoped they'd fixed the problem, but I guess not. :(
