I, like many on this board, am looking for ways to supplement my income. With the economy and raising three kids, I decided to look into part time merchandising jobs aftering finding the websites on this board a few weeks ago. With my two older in school and my little one in pre-school this would fit in my schedule great. I have applied for a few jobs so thank you disboard members for the information! I didn't even know anything about merchandising jobs before. Can anyone tell me about being a Hallmark merchandiser? There was a posting for one in my area and I am interested to hear the good and bad about the job. Can it only be done during daytime hours and why? The store they are looking for merchandisers in my area has hours from 6am to midnight. Thanks for any insight into these merchandising jobs!

I work for Hallmark as a RM. I enjoy what I do. I have a 4 and 1 year old and it is flexible for me. Hallmark RM jobs are going to vary from store to store. What you do will be pretty much the same as, say, what I do. My general day....go in, straighten the cards and gift wrap, make a list of what I need from backstock, go in the back (I work in a Wal-Mart), check in the boxes that have come in, go through and get what I need up front. I sort through cards and put them out too. I also have party supplies and balloons that I take care of. The number of days you work will depend on the amount of sales that the store has. We are a 4 day a week store. I work MWF and every other Sat. There is another lady that works with me and she works M and every other Sat. Hours will vary from week to week. I've been given anywhere from 12-over 40 hours. It depends on if it is a "card" holiday or not. Card holidays...valentine's, christmas, mother's day, etc. There are certain days that are set in stone to work....the day after a holiday...so say the day after easter we take down all the easter and set mother's day and graduation. Those are long days. I normally do my work in the morning while my 4 year old is at pre-school. I have gone in at night. It will depend on what your supervisor says and what the store will allow.

Overall, I really like the job. It does not pay as well as say other merchandising jobs, but I still like it. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you may have. :goodvibes

How do you find these jobs? Especially Hallmark -- I would LOVE to do that! I usually 'clean up' the cards a little when I'm shopping; I might as well get paid for it! :lmao: TIA

You know, after working with Hallmark, I have realized that there are some people that are just lazy, they just put stuff back where ever they please. :sad2: I was literally standing right behind a lady (while I was working...and you could tell that I was working in that aisle) who was looking at bags...she looked at 3-4 different ones and could not put a one back the right way.:headache: :sad2: Sure enough, she left and I had to clean up after her.

Hallmark listed an ad in our local paper. There is a web site to look for them too.....do you think I can remember it at the moment...nope...when I figure it out, I will get it to you.

I haven never done hallmark but I was the make up aisle merchandiser. I had 7 stores, hit the same store the same day every week. I would clean the whole aisle, pack out my order that came in and place a new order for the following week. I had a telzon machine to scan everything in. It does pay more than hallmark.

I also did the flowers at coscto for a few years.. I was employedby the flower vendor.

I picked up odd jobs at macys, kohls pennys and crackel barrel.

Some weeks were nuts but others weren't than bad.

I enjoyed it but stopped when my 4th child was born.

I used to work for American Greetings. I did a Target store and it was very demanding but was a great job to work around my kids school schedules. American Greetings do not pay very much and do not pay mileage. After 10+ years with them I finally quit because with gas prices as they are it was not worth it to go into my store for just 2 hours a day - 4 days a week. I now work for Beckett and do the sports cards and pokemon type cards in Walmarts. I love it and this can be done around my other little things I do. They pay a set per amount per store based on sales and size. They also pay an additional amount per store for gas. Very good company to work for, plus when you do a good job your name gets around. I have been approached by many other companies looking for merchandisers and been offered other jobs. Any questions just let me know. Lisa

I am a rep for glaciaeu waters and I found my position from Narms. I just applied for everything on the board and then eventually one day I got an oppoortunity. My day is similar to the PP and it works really great around my children.

Just like some else said my pay is low but between that and demo jobs it always make extra for Disney Trips

I was going to suggest narms.com and volition.com. I found the Hallmark job on narms.com and have an interview in a few weeks. I was really surprised to find out that there really are a lot of merchandising jobs out there. These type of jobs seem perfect for mom's to earn some extra income while still being there for the kids.
