So, I'm going to DL for the first time....Staying at DLHotel, I think I have everything in place.....Being a WDW vet....I've got loads of park merchandise...is there anything I should look for at DL? That I can't get at WDW?

Oldest DD is sort of a pin collector...so I know I want to get her some DL specific pins....

but what other kinds of stuff is there?

A lot of the stuff is available at both parks, with the exception of stuff that specifically say Disneyland or Disney World, (sweaters, t-shirts, bags ect.) and even then they sometimes have their own versions. The official pin trading site a list of upcoming releases that are exclusive to the park if your DD is interested in that. A lot of the pins do come out eventually in thier respective parks. Good luck!

I'm a WDW vet myself having gone 11 straight years in a row and we are also making our first visit to Disneyland in August and we too are staying at the DLH!!!!

I am a big Disney memorabilia collector so I too will be looking for exclusive Disneyland items.:thumbsup2

I'm going March 1-3. I have a wedding to go to in Houston on 2/29 (leap day) and my friend who lives close to DL & I are turning my trip into a 3-leg trip! I'm flying from Chicago to Houston....(do the wedding thing)..She's flying from so Cal to Houston....then we're leaving together from Houston to Calif...then me back home to Chicago....so I'll be on a plane a lot in 6 days....but it was too good of a deal! She won a silent auction at her school for dinner for 2 at Club33....her dh wasn't impressed...but she KNEW I would be!

Great idea! :thumbsup2 It's going to be my first time at DCA, DTD and PPH, although I've taken two day trips to DL in the pre-DCA past (1998 and 1987). Is it "cheating" for me to ask for one of the pins? What if I only wear it at DCA, DTD and the hotel and promise to take it off when I enter DL?

Too funny. :) FWIW, we have been asked "is this your first time on this ride?" When we answered yes (we had never been on Peter Pan) they gave us First Visit buttons. :confused3 I took mine off, but DH and DS wore them. They are pretty liberal with their button giving, so don't feel weird about it.

If birthday buttons are given b/c you are *celebrating* a birthday (no question of WHEN the b'day is), you can certainly celebrate the first visit to DCA, or the first visit of the year, etc. :)

Some Disneyland specific souvenirs would include the ones that would reference New Orleans Square, Nightmare Before Christmas/Jack Skellington, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, anything with California Adventure (there is a teddy bear whose paw pads are in the shape of Mickey heads - really cute), Casey Jr. Circus, the "face" on the facade of It's a Small World, Indiana Jones - fedoras, etc., Finding Nemo Ride, etc.

When we were there in November, the first thing I did was go to City Hall to get my younger son a First Visit button and they didn't have any, and didn't know if or when they were going to get any more. :confused3

Luckily, later that day we were in line for Star Tours and the CM at the door was chatting with us and it came out in the conversation that it was my son's first visit. She said we should have gotten the button for him and I told her about City Hall being out, so she told me to ask up at the "desk" inside. They ended up bringing us four buttons. I carried the three extra ones around and gave them to three kids in the Monorail line the next morning since I heard them talking about it being their first visit. It felt so nice to spread a little magic. :wizard:

Well I definitely want the first visit pin because it truly will be for us and who knows if and when we'll be back to it's important to me. I'll remember your tip and if City Hall doesn't have it I'll have to ask around.

Thanks!:thumbsup2
