I'm not supposed to get the discount, but my wife has had zero problems getting the current 30% discount on Disney merchandise as resale owners. We've shown them screenshots of our white card and have also showed our DVC ownership from the MDE app under Memberships and Passes.

So anyone who bought resale after Jan 2019 (like us), you will likely also get the discount.

I have wondered about this; enforceability seems rather difficult.

Weren’t the discount benefits removed in 2016? Or am I mixing things up?

Would you argue with someone while making like $12 an hour. I wouldn't.

It’s not stealing. They aren’t asking their card and photoshopping it blue. They are showing what they have and Disney is giving them a discount.

This is probably a YMMV type of thing, but I would love to know if others had similar experiences. Personally, I would flash it everywhere and just play ignorant if told I don’t qualify for the DVC discount with a white card. :rolleyes1

I'm white card and got the discount on shopdisney.com on DVC merch. I bought the magnet because they never sent me one, or anything else.

"But I swear I didn't know downloading from a torrent site was illegal."

You know you shouldn't get a discount and go out of your way to try and get one. If you don't know if you qualify and ask for clarification and they give it to you that is completely different.

Anyone can do whatever they want just calling it how I see it. If you choose to try and fool people in to getting/saving money you shouldn't have then that is your choice.

If you are talking about SHIPMAGIC code don't think there is any check to that and you wouldn't even have to be a DVC member to get it. Same with the D23 discount as well. The only one with verifications I think is the Disney Visa one as they require you to use the card I believe.

Is there a % savings discount on Shop Disney for DVC as well?

There is until tomorrow at midnight. 30%. DVC eventually matched the discount being given to APs.

It was a 2016 change. The only change in 2019 that I know of was the restriction on future stays at newly built resorts. I think 2016 is when they removed the AP/food/merch discount. Not totally sure though- we didn't buy our resale contract until 2018 and purchased direct before that. But I have always been asked to show my DVC card when using the merch discount in the past.

Apparently they changed it so all DVC members get the discount. My wife said she first showed the white card and told the clerk we bought resale. Clerk said still eligible for discount.

I just tried it again, and it shows the discount for any DVC merch in my cart, without any codes.

So maybe white cards gets the DVC discount, but not the other merch?

According to the rules, white card members are not entitled to discounts. What actually happens when a DVC owner asks at the check out with a CM is up to the Disney CM to decide. With that, I am closing the thread.
