We are going to be flying and taking YourRide to WLV but will be arriving around 7:40am. We decided since it will be so early we wont make a grocery stop since it will be awhile getting in to the room. We will probably eat most breakfasts in room, what kinds of breakfast things can we expect to find at the mercantile store(milk, juice, cereal, poptarts) etc. Just anything you can think of. Also, at Roaring Forks, what kinds of Breakfast items do they have.

Thanks so much for any info. I can always count on yall to give great feedback!!

You can find all that and more if you want to cook a full meal for breakfast(bacon & eggs, etc.). Roaring forks has lots of hot and cold stuff for breakfast. Actually, almost everything you could imagine within reason for counter service. We loved eating there every morning. The breakfast sandwiches were great. They are a hugh keiser roll with eggs, ham and cheese; and come with a version of tater tots. Really filling and reasonable by Disney standards.

Ahhh, you're taking the 6:00am direct Delta/Comair flight from RDU? We just did that two weeks ago, got in the same time that you're going to. I would recommend having yourride take you to the grocery store - the stuff at the mercantile is a) very expensive, and b) very small selection. The luggage handlers at WLV were wonderful about storing our stuff. The only perishables that we bought at the grocery store were milk and half and half, and they put them in the fridge from 8:00am until our room was ready at 3:00pm - no problems. Yourride gives you a 30 minute grocery stop for free, take advantage of it. The one really good thing we did this time was to be much more restrained in our grocery buying than we had been last time. If you make up a list beforehand of everything you're going to want and don't buy impulse items, it really helps. The first trip, we spent $75 in groceries and wound up having to leave much of it behind. This time we spent $30, and pretty much used everything up.

One time we were in the mercantile a family in front of us bought a tiny little jar of peanut butter, a tiny little jar of jam, and a loaf of bread. It cost them close to $15.

Don't get me wrong, I love the mercantile - it is a great store - just not fantastic for grocery shopping, IMHO. :D

JonHM Thanks for the reply! That bread-jam-PB $15 story spells out what I dont want to do, overspend on trivial items. Heck, that $15 will almost pay for a meal at Pecos Bills for us 4, almost anyway.

We are using YourRide for 1st time. We have used Fl. Towncars twice with good results but they have gone up and so many other services have a less price and also offer coupons.

We are taking 6am Delta/Comair out of Greensboro. We have flown twice out of Raleigh, once on Midway and once with Delta. That time with Delta was because Midway went bankrupt and we already had tickets to fly with them but ended up rescheduling with Delta, long story short had to go through usual routine in Atlanta airport layover, return trip from Orlando to Raleigh 7hrs.

Thanks again for the heads up on mercantile store and be sure to get to next Dis bash in NC, lots of fun sharing Disneyitis stories with others.

msdis Thanks for the reply about Roaring Forks. We have only stayed at AllStars, they have good food at their counter service but havent heard much about RF. Seems like Artist Pt. and W. Canyon always seem to overshadow it.

Although I have never been to the all stars, from what I can tell from reading the boards you might be disappointed in roaring forks compared to the all stars food court. It's much more like a snack bar than a full blown food court. We have grabbed quick meals there when we felt like minimal fuss and they have always been good but as I said, the selection is somewhat limited and the seating area small. I have heard of long lines during prime breakfast times.

Lisa-
You are so right about the comparison of selection between the All Stars and WL "food courts". But keeping an open mind there were enough meal options to qualify as a counter service eatery as opposed to a snack shop. In fact, they have a "special" 3 times a day that is not on their regular menu. I looked forward to seeing that every day not because of the value it might be but more so due to the fact it provided one more option for a meal choice. I usually had one special each day and they were really good. They do serve a lot of cold sandwiches but they do have at least 6-8 hot meal options too. And yes, breakfast did seem to be the busiest time of the day at Roaring forks but it also offered the largest meal selections. Over many years of observations of Disney resorts I conclude that the more costly per night a resort, the less "cheap" dining options available. You will also note that the All Stars does not even have a real restaurant, hense the need for a more elaborate food court. We once made a game out of resort cookies. It was the funniest thing to watch the price of the exact same cookie from the All Stars, to the moderates, to the Boardwalk, to the Grand Floridian. Also price a chicken strip basket from one resort to another. It really is amusing. The demand for food courts and counter service diminishes up the ladder. Of ALL the DVC resorts, VWL is the ONLY one with an eatery like Roaring Forks. Can you tell, I'm VERY grateful it's there.

Thanks for the menu uplink. I can appreciate your enthusiasm!
