Does anyone know if it's Mears that does that 1/2 hour stop at a supermarket?

No they don't. Most towncars do upon request.

I just looked at the Mears website. They do have towncars but I have no idea if they make grocery stops.

We use a towncar company because it is both cheaper & more convenient. Mears costs $100 (w/o any discount) for 2 adults & 2 kids over age 3. A towncar cost $90 (w/ $5 coupon). The driver meets you and helps with your bags. You get to stop for groceries. No waiting for other passengers. And so on.

Kids under 3 are free on Mears, but there's no guarantee that theyll get a seat, or at least that's what they told me. We booked a towncar so that we could use my daughter's carseat (she was 3 months old at the time) because when I called Mears to be sure there was no fee for infants the woman I spoke with said that they're free, but you may have to hold them on your lap since vans/buses don't have to adhere to the carseat laws. We could have just bought her a ticket for Mears, but if we did it was really almost the same price as a towncar so we did that. It was nice not to wait for the van to load and the grocery stop was great.

I am using Quicksilver. They had no problem picking me up tonight instead of tomorrow evening.

We have used Tiffany Towncar on 6 trips now and they're great.
