Hey guys I am trying to throw together a "brunch" menu for my reception....Can anyone help me think of foods that they enjoyed as they have gone over the years? I know that beef and barley soup is on my list and so is the stuffed french from Cinderellas castle. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated....

Jonette, I wish I had some idea but I really don't know what brunch menus should have especially for a wedding. Did you try on line doing a search?

Anyway...I wanted to bump you up so someone saw your question :sunny:

This might not go with your theme at all...:) but I really enjoyed the sausage biscuit casserole at Boma.

Hey!

Where are you having the reception? I think we have just about every menu from them- although they may hvae just given us the dinner menus. I am assuming (and quite possibly incorrectly) that you're going more a buffet route here. Maybe check Chef Mickey's? Crystal Palace? for ideas?

I usually like to stick with the breakfast side of brunch, so here goes:
-Mimosas (!!!)
-Waffles (Mickey, of course!)
-Pancakes
-French toast
-Fresh fruit
-Carving station for ham (kind of works as a breakfast meat)
-Yougart parfait (If you're doing a buffett, it could work great to have the glasses, yougurt, fruit, and granola so people can make their own)
-A pasta dish
-Seafood that most people like- like shrimp with cocktail sauce
-Salad options
-Small sandwiches (club, turkey, roast beef, etc.)
-Omelette station
-Eggs Benedict
-Potatoes... like home fries, almost
-Bread station with croissants, bagels, Danishes, etc. in addition to rolls
-The Breakfast Pizza from CM's (my favorite!)

This sounds like so much fun! I'm so jealous! :p

JonetteA, where are you holding your reception? Have you requested brunch menus from your wedding coordinator yet? Disney has all sorts of menus that they could easily e-mail/FAX/US Mail to you (they have done so for myself and many others). I would start with their standard menus and take it from there.

Consider sitting down with your future spouse and discussing your favorite foods. Since this is your wedding reception, you should personalize it with a few of your favorites dishes. Perhaps you could add something that you enjoyed during your very first meal together as a couple. Or something from your favorite restaurant. Or how 'bout the first time you vacationed together -- was there a special meal that you enjoyed?

I bet there are all sorts of scrumptious food items that you can conjure up. Give it a try and have fun planning!

Janet, my issue is the California Grill. They really don't have alot of options, and from what I hear from others don't like to go "off the beaten path". I really want a "Through the Years" celebration b/c of the 50th as well as this is when we both went as a child.....either they can or they can't, and then I have to weigh out if the location is fabulous and not have what I want, or is the reception food the most important thing. I really don't know right now. I have never eaten at the Cali Grill before and they don't do tastings, so I am kinda stuck b/t a rock and a hard place. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

JonnetteA, I am surprised to hear that. Has anyone from the FTW department sent you any brunch type of menus? Please let me know.

The CA Grill is a wonderful restaurant. Every time I have eaten there (I ate there most recently in August), the food has been delicious. And the view just cannot be beat. Your reception will have the best of both worlds -- scrumptious food and an incredible view, have no fear.

i would go with a mix of breakfast items like omelets, pancakes with fruit & whip cream on top, hashbrown casserole and lunch items like finger sandwiches with sides, soups & salads.

i think your problem with the cali grill is there normally just a dinner restaurant, but i think the chef or one of the other restaurants at the contemporary should be able to help with recipes & ideas, etc. the cali grill is a very nice restaurant, has some great views & yummy dinner food. i would keep pushing & suggest your own menu ideas too.

I am also thinking about a bruch menu- Today is one year from the date that is my first choice--- how long will it take for them to notify me if I get that date? Also if they send you menus I would love to see them too, but I am going to try to have my reception at Ariels......hopefully I will get that date...I am nervous-
Thanks

Some of the menus are a bit outdated, and you might have already come across this website but it should give you some fun ideas to start planning.

Have you spoken with a Sales Manager? We did our site visits on the year date though. :confused3 We had a tentative confirmation email within about 2-3 weeks. Then you have to block the rooms, etc. By the time you sign your contract and send in your deposit, that time and date are your's. Up until that point though, I'm not 100% certain. If you're nervous, contact the SM and let them know you want to get the ball rolling! Are you at a busy time of year that you're at risk for losing your spot?

Good luck!
xoxo
